QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 10:37 AM) When you change it from Allah to God you change the power behind the words. if you read that a gunman shot several people shouting 'God is great!" you think White Christian. You hear gunman shot several people shouting 'Allah is great! you picture a Muslim. Why would you want to change that perception? You know why. Allah forbid you unfairly portray Muslims in the US.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) You may want to take a look at this I had read that but it doesn't seem to apply. Mine never runs the A/C unless I have the cool setting on.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) I do not envy your electricity bill. Yeah i'm terrified of what it will be. 10 hours a day does not seem normal, even for really hot days.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Have you checked your ductwork? My parents had this issue and they had some ductwork that had collapsed in their attic and so it was drawing very hot air and struggling to keep up. But yeah, I suppose it could also be Nest's algorithm... It's a one story ranch, so i'm not sure how/why any ductwork would have changed. And again, I've gone to every vent and they all blow out cold air at a pretty good flow. That's why i keep thinking it's something with the Nest. I noticed yesterday the thing was set at 72 and the house was at 72 but it didn't turn off. I'd hate to call the a/c guy and be charged $150 for a visit only for him to be like "yep, it's hot out, it'll work a little harder."

Random question - for those that can track it, how long do your AC units run on a given day? We got a Nest last fall and it worked great at keeping the house at my set temp all through the winter. Now we're using it for the first time to cool the house and i'm questioning if I have an AC issue. For the last week or two, my AC has been running between 10 and 13 hours a day. Other than the one 73 degree day we had when i turned the AC off, the rest of the time it's been in the high 80's, low 90's, so I expect the thing to work a lot more than if it was 79-80. I've never been able to track how long the system has been on before, so I have no idea if this is normal or not. It seems like a lot. This thing rarely shuts off. It constantly runs until it gets dark out. And the other thing is i have it set at 72 but i'm not confident it will get any cooler. I set it to 69 once and after an hour it only got to 71. I've cleared all the returns. I checked every vent and i'm getting cold air throughout the house. The humidity in the house is way down, so I know it's working, it just doesn't seem to be working efficiently. I keep thinking maybe there's something wrong with the unit, but why would I be getting cold air if the AC wasn't work right? And i'm getting plenty of airflow so it's not the fan. Maybe this is normal? Is this part of the Nest tech that forces my system to run more economically (running it longer means less start/stop time?) Any guesses?

QUOTE (Nixon @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) I must be in the minority, I f***ing hated that episode. 40 some minutes of Jon killing anonymous Bolton dudes. Wildlings/62 good men dying because Sansa inexplicably withheld info. Jon going for the obvious bait. I'm sure in the books Jon's going to get bailed out by the timely intervention of the Vale knights too, but at least it will be because that's as quickly as Sansa could get there. Not because she just decided to keep it to herself cause her f***ing p**** hurt. The review podcast I listen to summed it up perfectly for me: it was too predictable, but being predictable is what made it so damn satisfying. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) She may have not known they were coming and would get there in time. It's unknown yet whether everyone in that world yet knows that time and distance no longer exist in this season. I think it's a small gripe, but there's really no reason why she couldn't have told them on their march down to Winterfell, "oh yeah, hey, so I asked Littlefinger for an army to help. Maybe we just chill for a week and see what kind of response we get?" Especially since they included a scene where she's arguing with John that Ramsey had the advantage and they didn't have enough men. Rikon running in a perfectly straight line and Ramsey shooting the dying giant in the eye instead of John, who was RIGHT THERE, are far more unrealistic/egregious. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) Jordan wins GOAT 1) Much better history of clutch shots, starting with 1982 at UNC...for every memorable game-winning LeBron shot, there are 3-4 iconic ones for Jordan 2) You can't add 2 more years to LeBron's career that MJ didn't have (actually three, because of the baseball detour) without looking at what MJ accomplished at UNC and especially the 1984 Olympic Team coached by Bobby Knight/The Dream Team, etc. 3) MJ's history of voting totals for Defensive Player of the Year 4) Jordan's accomplishments were limited to pretty much the Bulls...he also didn't bolt in order to get a couple of gift titles playing with a hand-picked roster of All-Stars in Miami 5) Jordan almost single-handedly destroyed the Cavaliers, Celtics and Pistons...for decades Time will judge the level of competition....many will argue the 1980's and 1990's as the NBA's peak, others will say it has never been better or more athletic. You had players like Malone/Stockton and Barkley struggling their entire careers to win just one championship. I still don't think Lebron ever went through a good to great team in the ECF either. Who's a hall of fame player that Lebron has had to go through to get to the Finals? Jordan had to go through peak Thomas, Ewing, Reggie, Shaq, etc.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 10:55 AM) Golden State was the epitome of team basketball. Hero Ball is such a stupid description of modern NBA. This isn't 2002 anymore. You don't like basketball, move along. What is the purpose of fans that pipe in to a major sports championships just to say the sport is stupid? Come on now, the last 5 minutes was exactly that. Both teams went a combined 1-17 in that span with Irving's shot - a one on one fall away three - the only made bucket. Both teams went to the ISO to get a bucket and sucked at it. Both went against what got them to that point. Lebron had about 4 awful drives/shots and so did Curry. To answer the other question posed, the Warriors CHOKED that series and game 7 away. I know Lebron is going to get all the praise, but good teams don't lose when up 3-1. Curry and Kerr were especially atrocious. Curry for putting up some horrific shots and making some horrific turnovers at key moments in the game, and Kerr for playing Ezili and Varejo significant minutes in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, short bench or not. Also, Harrison Barnes. Jesus.

Ugh. Congrats Kyrie.

Warriors don't deserve to win this. Draw up a friggin play.

Wtf Curry?

Wow such a great game.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) I thought I saw that the gun shop didn't have the guy's name, address, or any other identifying information, and the video footage was not of the greatest quality. I also thought I saw that the tape has since been wiped in the ordinary course of business, so they can't verify anything re: the video. I'm not sure what the FBI could have done with that. Sidenote, the "See Something, Say Something" mantra has always seemed like it's probably not that helpful to me. I don't envy the amount of noise those guys likely have to sift through. "Yeah, FBI? This guy came into our store and a bought a gun. Looks suspicious. That's all the info we have. Thanks!"

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) Afflalo supposedly opting out. How about Afflalo, Calderon, and a 2nd rounder for Rose and Tony Snell. Afflalo opts out, Calderon owed $7 million this year but Bulls could be players in free agency. Not a lot out there though, that's the problem. http://hoopshype.com/2016/05/03/nba-free-a...he-top-players/

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) No one's saying don't question him. He's 2/5 right now in NBA Finals. Go ahead and question that. Don't question the fact that some of his greatest gifts are getting his teammates involved and being a f***ing basketball genius. The last two games he decided to forget trying to get some losers on his roster going and went out there and got it. He's probably the best team player in the history of the league, and yes, he can take the f*** the game over when he wants. 77 games 27.2 ppg 7.5 rpg 7 apg 50% over 1,000 career regular season games. But he's not leveraging his gifts. You GMAFB and come back with an argument that's actually valid. And that's the point, he doesn't always do that, sometimes to his teams detriment. This series should be over based on his play the first 4 games. Gaudy stats or not (which btw, he frequently has the quietest, least effective dominant statistical games of any great player I can remember), for HIS potential and HIS physical dominance, he should be better. I'm not sure why that's not a valid criticism. We criticize guys that have good stats all the time for not reaching their potential, even if that potential is still hall of fame, greatest of all time caliber. You can be impressed and respect his accomplishments but still wonder why he left so much on the plate. Again, the dude is the best physical specimen the NBA has ever seen. He shows time and time again that when he asserts himself, he's unstoppable. On top of the constant whining, b****ing and flopping, the dude doesn't always play to 100% of what he can be. That's incredibly frustrating as a fan, which is why I despise his style of play. That doesn't mean i can't awe at some of the things he does, but I sure as hell don't see the need to ROOT for that crap.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) It's not illegal to own a gun. It would be illegal to have a gun outside the restrictions set. But if you're a psycho intent on mass killings you're clearly not worried about legal consequences so...
-
Did anyone hear more follow-up on the report that the owners of the store that sold the guns to the guy in Orlando called the FBI to report him, and the FBI ignored it?
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) You know what would be nice to help figure out the best way to reduce the mass casualty capacity of many legal guns? If we could study it. The technical pointed questions are a deflection. Some handguns can fire faster than rifles, extended clips can hold more bullets, yes. But the point is not a single gun is dangerous, but why can't we regulate deadly weapons such as guns to reduce their power to inflict mass casualties in these situations? Nothing in the 2A says we can't dictate the ammunition capacity and amount of bullets fired in a certain time frame. If people hack it, they hack it, but at least it would be illegal to hack it. We can of course, do this, and the balance of freedom to own tools that do this vs the risk that it poses to society seems clearly tilted toward regulation. That said, unlike others, I literally do favor a gun buyback and constitutional amendment to overturn the 2nd amendment. I'll settle for less, but it's time. I get there is a nostalgia factor. And I think there is plenty of room to allow people to have guns, but the 2A is so absolute that it obstructs it and I'd favor removing that right of citizenship. Um, you mean like the laws that make it illegal to shoot people?
-
You all act like this is some new criticism. It's been a criticism of his by fans and analysts for a long stretch of his career. Hell, even in this series, until Game 5 it was "where the hell is Lebron? Why is he taking 15-20 shots a game and not 30?" Suddenly he has two of his career-best games and it's back to "Lebron can never be questioned!" GMAFB.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) Come on, no one can match him physically. If he's aggressive, that should be relatively easy. The dude is the greatest physical specimen the NBA has ever seen. Is it a coincidence that when he decides to take more than 25-30 shots a game he scores over 40 like in these last two games? He should do that nightly.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) If Iguodola's back is not a lot better by Sunday I don't see the Warriors being able to pull this out unless Klay and Curry go absolutely crazy. They have no one who can defend Lebron other than Iguodola. Yeah Iggy couldn't jump in the 2nd half last night. That's a huge problem. It would also help if the Warriors hit some shots. Barnes especially. That guy is losing millions with his inability to hit shots. Some of that is a credit to Cleveland finally playing some defense, but the Warriors are just missing a ton of open looks.
