Williams will be good but he’s returning from a major injury and has hardly played this season. Hockenson played less than half a season with the Lions. If Chark is better than Claypool, the bears front office made one of the worst trades in franchise history by giving up a high second round pick for a bottom tier #2 receiver.
-
Why didn’t you include them in your list? They had a similar number of pass attempts in college as Justin Fields.
-
Exactly. Someone said the Lions aren’t going anywhere with Goff. Seriously? If the rest of the team is loaded, which it appears to be trending that way, they can absolutely win a SB with Goff. Guys like Flacco, Foles, Eli Manning, and Stafford have won Super Bowls. I mean come on.

Williams has been injured most the year. Chark had one good season like 3 years ago. Hockenson was traded to the Vikings.
-
Lions can absolutely win a SB with Goff. He’s already played in one and is better now than he was then. Everyone talks about the Bears crappy WR corps. Who do the Lions have outside of 2021 fourth round pick St. Brown?

Tom Brady? Aaron Rodgers?

Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
JUSTgottaBELIEVE replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yep, Escobar is definitely the odd man out and with $10M guaranteed remaining on his contract I think they’ll move him rather than keep him as a utility guy. Good fit for the Sox if they can snag a prospect like Baty too, who is also blocked. -

Hendriks for Baty and Escobar. Who says no? -
Jesse Rogers: Sox Sign Benintendi - 5yr / $75M
JUSTgottaBELIEVE replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don’t disagree but, on paper, I see this collection of transactions as a lateral move. Don’t think they got better. So that means the carry overs from last season have to improve significantly to make a real run at this thing. I still think the roster severely lacks depth. They’re a couple injuries away from guys like burger, garcia, etc getting significant playing time again. -
Jesse Rogers: Sox Sign Benintendi - 5yr / $75M

I’m surprised they signed him but also fully expect this now means Liam is traded. The bigger concern is whether the team is any better after a Liam trade than it was at the end of last year? Added: Benintendi, Clevinger, Reyes, return from Hendriks trade Subtracted: Abreu, Cueto, Pollock, Harrison, Engel, Hendriks -

This site says they’re already projected at a $179M payroll as is and yet people think they’re going to spend another $25M? wake up. https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/payroll/white-sox -

It’s been widely reported that they have a hard cap at $180M. What makes you think they will exceed this other than wishful thinking? -

Dream on. Time to step back into reality. And reality dictates, one Frazier is about all they can afford. Unless of course Jerry is willing to eat a significant amount of salary and dump guys like Grandal or Lynn (don’t see it happening before the season starts). -

Looks about right and makes him the second best outfield option on the roster (assuming Eloy is primarily a DH) -

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33761266/the-end-mlb-service-manipulation-how-kris-bryant-paved-way-next-kris-bryant?platform=amp It’s about halfway into the article but those are the reasons, among others, why Colas will be the opening day RF. -

With the new union rules regarding service time manipulation, I could see the Sox penciling in Colas from day one and they should if they’re serious about winning in 2023. -

I think they’ll sign a garbage bin vet like Naquin but if people are expecting much more than that they’re setting themselves up for disappointment. Outfield options will be cheap vet, Robert, Colas, Garcia, Reyes, and Sheets/Eloy in a pinch. It’s also possible they don’t sign a veteran outfielder at all and just roll with the rest of those guys plus a near MLB ready minor leaguer like Cespedes. -

Maybe they’ve been saying it now but they weren’t saying it last summer. Again, review the Conforto thread from last summer. As far as opening day RF, if not Colas then who? -

They can go internal for outfield too but it doesn’t mean they should. How much do you think Conforto is going to sign for and how much more do you think they will spend? You might want to revisit the Conforto thread from last summer as a refresher on this entire Conforto/Colas discussion. -
Merkin: Colas figures to be Sox 2023 RF
JUSTgottaBELIEVE replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Actually there isn’t. Sox are already tapped out on budget if they sign Conforto but they still have other positions to fill. Think Tyler Naquin or similar, that tier as the outfielder free agent signing. -

Who penciled him as the opening day RF 4 months ago? I said he’d be up in early May and was told no way he’d be ready by then. -

Ha, and everyone argued with me when I said 4 months ago Colas was going to be the starting RF in 2023 when many were advocating for a Conforto signing.
