Call it blind optimism if you like but I think its really convenient for them to make sure that this happens right now. It was measured. They probably had Lozano to tell them that Manny is their only 3rd base option and they wanted to show right away that its not. But kinda is though. :/

The negotiations reaching the final stages last call type of momentum. It kind of seemed like thats where this was heading but it was probably a false alarm.

I actually agree with this. But Sox can still wind up with Manny, either way they will have to pay up. They could have done it a long time ago though.

We have family and his best friend on our team. ✅ tax advantage ✅ location advantage so his family can watch him regularly on tv ✅ we have been there from the start showing him he is our Number one priority ✅ What else I am missing that is to our advantage?

Maybe their older but who the heck will care when the trade bids or contract negotiations come? None. We will all be pulling for Hahn to get it done by all means possible. He still may land something that we haven’t even thought of outside of those guys too, who knows. He isn’t going to quit if he fails with these two big guys. Look, I will hate Hahn for a while but because being a whitesox fan is more of who I am than what I choose to be I’m still going to hang in there. I don’t feel like I have a choice. I really hope Hahn comes through man.

Hahn will have a hard time living this down but time flies and it wouldn’t be long until the next big “whale” ( good god I hate that f’n term) is available for him to go after and win the base back on his side. We aren’t Sox fans because we have had the luxury of winning following this team. We are in it because it’s who we are. We will wait for the next opportunity for the next great player.

Hopefully this is just the Padres being used by both agents. Heyman does seem to think the Pads are in the lead right now though.
