  1. So the train is/isn't that much longer than a commute would be?
  2. Will keep Big Eds in mind. How long will the train commute be? I almost rather drive, but I don't know. Last time I was in Chicago it was plane, cab, hotel, games, etc. Is Friday drive bad because of work flow traffic? Fridays tend to be busy in the big cities.
  3. Yea I was hoping for Eloy at least, tough first pitcher to face, but it would be awesome.
  4. WOW. Ticket prices way higher than in Pittsburgh.
  5. ....now I just want a good game. I SO want to go on Friday instead, but may get outvoted.
  6. Yea as soon as the game is over we're gonna trek back to Waukegan.
  7. Looks like the Metra runs from Chicago OTC about 11PM and 12:30 AM, those will be the after the game. Is our walk from the Metra stop to the red line in a decent area?
  8. I am trying to talk wife into going Friday night if we're doing just the one game. I'd much rather watch Rodon v. Beiber than Shields against Bauer. Reminds me of my first ever White Sox game I saw live (in Baltimore) in 1983....all that great pitching that team had and I got stuck with randy freaking martz.
  9. Great stuff. I'll have this handy. Thanks man
  10. We are going to the Navy pier on Saturday and doing some stuff around Chicago, in the good areas of course.
  11. jimsorgi. I am on that. Malnatis was also recommended to me. Thats the deep dish. Oldest son is deep dish, I'm thin. Actually it all works for me.
  12. Thanks a ton footlongcomiskey dog
  13. Hey guys-Wasn't sure where to put this, but my son is finishing basic training for the Navy this week and we're driving from Pittsburgh to Chicago. Our hotel is in Waukegan. I was going to drive around, but the guy told my wife if we go into the city to take the train. Is there a train direct from Waukegan to the GRF exit? What is a good way to navigate there. Any decent places to eat/hang near the stadium? I have not been in Chicago since the last games of old Comiskey. What I did then was direct flight hotel, cab ride and basically stayed in my room the entire time. I was alone as my friend had stood me up, but had a nice time with fans at the games (versus Seattle). I have not decided if I am going to the Friday or Saturday game or both. I want to goto Friday's game because Rodon is pitching against Beiber, but we may opt for Saturday instead although that pitching matchup (Bauer v Shields) is much less palatable as a Sox fan. This involved my family of 5 and while my daughter hates baseball (yea I don't get it either) the other 3 are looking forward to it. Thanks for any advice. Moderators, feel free to move this to another forum if necessary.
  14. I got that impression in the 9th.
  15. So is this Vieira someone the Sox can count on to not gas can games? He struggled a tad with his control, but he got the job done.
  16. You got it man. I have been a Sox devotee since 1977-ish...nothing gonna change it. Love the White Sox....yea it sucks now, but when they come roaring back I'll be there and if ANYONE calls me a band wagon fan shit gonna get ugly. I do wish the team played better defense...the pitching is worse than I thought it would be...but NO losing is not the issue, sometimes its HOW they are losing.
  17. Oh my....a short guy wearing #7....is this me about 30 years ago? Oh no...this guy can actually hit. Really excited to see what he can do. Not worried about the positions at this point....that will all shake out in time.
  18. I knew there was a reason to watch this shitty game.
  19. So I will be back in Chicago for the Indians series on August 10th weekend....games like this worry me. I don't want to have what happened here in Pittsburgh where game 1 was over by the end of the 2nd inning. Please let Rodon be pitching that Saturday game.
  20. Put in Rex Grossman
  21. Fun bad. Bad Fun. A catastrophic success. It all applies. Ill just chalk this up to a shitty night, but Covey has not been as sharp lately. And tonight he was horrid.
  22. LOL...this is comical.
  23. Geeze. This is baseball...shouldn't they at least keep it interesting for a few minutes?
