  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) Personally, I wouldn't call putting up an ERA of 5 in 17 innings a very good spring, but that's just me. a 5 era in tuscon is very reasonable, and he looked good in the outing I saw him pitch.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) Let's combine the five. Pretty tough to cut up 5 different people, and sew them back together as one... 2 or 3 people, now thats a different story.
  3. I personally am a big fan of Jacoby (how do you even pronounce that?) Ellisbury. I think he would be a great fit for us, because he isn't your usual Juan Pierre/Scott Podsednik/etc. noodle arm weak defensive outfielder. He is actually very good in CF and covers a lot of ground, and has a decent arm. Imagine an OF of him, Anderson, and Sweeney in 3 years if they all live up to their potential. But, the only way I see us trading with Boston is if we are out of contention, and they need some pitching help. Same goes for the Mets. And Angels, lol. I could maybe see the Angels go for Crede, and then they would just keep Wood at SS, or maybe even move him to LF.
  4. Little known fact... Javy struck out the Easter Bunny on 3 straight pitches.
  5. Are most of you forgetting... Contreras had a very good spring this year. And last outing didn't seem like he was hurting or anything, but it seemed like just one of those bad days... He didn't have his good splitter and he has trouble locating his fastball, and that usually makes for a bad day.
  6. Bring back Royce Ring... I was looking at the draft results from 2002, and it sucks so much that we missed getting Cole Hammels by 1 pick!!! Whatever happened to Ring? Wasn't he considered our closer of the future? And then even when he was traded to NYM, they considered him their future closer...
  7. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) My bold prediction: Dewon Day is on the White Sox major leaguer roster before August. In place of who...?
  8. Well, this will be a nationally televised game, right? So, at least Javy gets to pitch his first perfect game of the season in front of all of america...
  9. ??? That doesn't seem like a breakout season to me.. Are they just showing the PECOTA predictions, and how they would assess their scouting to PECOTA?
  10. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) I haven't seen any 40-40 projections... I've seen 30-30 potential and our cupboard is bare in the outfield. I supported the trade when it happened, but it's tough to argue with results. Anyway, it'll be win-win when Vazquez becomes our ace this year. It will be a win-lose when Vazquez becomes the first pitcher in history to throw 9 perfect games in one season, and finish with an ERA of .21...
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) Phillips is out of options, and at least put up quality numbers last year. He should be moved for something @ trade deadline time, or at the very worst moved over the winter. I hate just losing people as FA like we did with Tracey because we don't have room. I still feel the effects of losing Fabio... there was no reason why he shouldn't have been put on the 40, IMO.
  12. I am pretty sure they start from scratch, since of the possibilities of injuries, trades, call-up/send-downs, etc messing up the rosters.
  13. I personally am not a big fan of Young. I think his cieling as a player is something along the lines of Mike Cameron, and while Young does play good D, I don't think he will be as good as Cameron. Now, there is nothing wrong with that, but I don't think he is going to turn into this 40-40 guy many of you guys and some "scouts" are making him out to be.
  14. I think of Phillips, Haeger, Broadway, and Floyd, the only two that are probably safe to still be in the White Sox organization by the end of the season are Broadway and Floyd, IMO. I think both Phillips and Haeger will be used as trade bait.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) Remember who you're dealing with here. ...
  16. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) once you get past the same position, same ethnic descent thing i really dont see a whole lot of similarities. i didn't realize baldelli has the power to hit 46 homers in a season or the ability to hit .382 for a whole year. maybe im missing something? Did I say Baldelli has the power to hit 46 homers and ability to hit .382??? NO! I said that they play similar games. Their swings are similar, and they play(ed?) a similar CF. Like I said, Baldelli doesn't have the talent of Dimaggio, but their games are similar!
  17. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) did you really just compare baldelli's tools to joey D? wow actually, this is a common comparrison. Not only do they look alike and are both from Italian decent, they both play a similar type of game. Of course Baldelli is no where near the talent of Dimaggio, but there are similarities in their play.
  18. We already have Torii Hunter on this team... his name is Brian Anderson. If Brian Anderson can finally play to his potential, he will probably put up similar numbers to Hunter. I'd rather take my chance with that, then sign Hunter. Castillo is interesting at 2B. Both him and Iguchi are about the same age, but Castillo is a year younger. Castillo would probably be a better option at 2B, if we were to sign either of them. Castillo is a GG 2B, has very good speed, and would be a good option for leadoff. But it would all depend on the price.
  19. QUOTE(shoota @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 11:51 AM) Based on fact or hope?
  20. I'm actually projecting a breakout year for Sweeney in the minors this year. He is 21-22 now, and his body is probably almost fully developed. He showed good power in the second half of last season, and I hope that will carry over to this year. And I, like Hawk and many more, think he will indeed become a 25-30 homer guy in the majors. But, like you said, that is only if he lives up to his potential.
  21. If Dye has an 06-esque season, I'd like to say he'd be re-signed, but I would doubt it, because if he does hit again like he did in 06, teams would probably offer him a 5 year contract worth close to 70-75 million, and that is too much for a guy of Dye's age. But if Dye just has a mediocre year, I think there would be a good chance of us bringing him back for 3 years at like 20 million, something similar (probably more money though) to his original contract with the Sox. Also, if the sox have Fields at 3B, and dump Pods, I could see Dye being moved to LF, and Sweeney being called up and play RF. I think we will also see Contreras or Garland traded, and with Buehrle likely gone, IMO, we would have freed up about 20-25 million without them on the team anymore. And I don't think Crede will be returning either, and I think he will be traded for indeed MI help. So him leaving could free up 5 million or so, or whatever he is getting paid now. And he would be replaced by Fields. I'd like to say Iguchi will be re-signed, but for some reason, I don't think he will return. BUT, the Japanese player I want signed would be Ichiro. So. lets looks at who might not be wearing black and white next year... Dye, Iguchi, Crede, Buehrle, Contreras, Garland, Podsednik, Anderson, Uribe, am I missing anyone?
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) so they skip Javy i hope? I want to see Danks so bad. Also this is an absolute godsend for our bullpen to have an off day. I don't want Javy to be skipped, because he is supposed to become our top guy, or something like that, and have some-sort of a breakout year.
  23. Man, I am soo pissed right now. I was relly looking forward to see Danks first outing as a major leaguer, and no it will be post-poned a whole week. Well, I guess if Contreras completely breaks down again, we will see Danks on Sunday.
