  1. It was a great game. Mid-80 temps, a little low for this time of year, but made it quite an enjoyable day. Here are a couple of my favorite pics from where I was sitting.
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) Jason, have you seen Honel or talked to anyone who has seen Honel recently? I'm just wondering about the status of his 'stuff', i.e. if he's still throwing that knucklecurve we heard so much about when he was drafted. Not sure if I am the Jason you were directing this to, but I was not able to make it to Monday's game. Until the end of this month, I am teaching on Monday and Wednesday nights, but I did listen to about an hour of the radio broadcast. Honel's knuckle-curve was mentioned a couple of times. He had a pretty good outing that night. I hope he stays healthy this year.
  3. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) Carolina 3 @ Birmingham 6 Getz 1-4, R, SB Collaro 3-4, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, R, K (7-17 with 3 XBH on the year so far) Lucy 1-3, 2B, R Whisler 5 IP, 3 R (0 ER) Wing 3 IP, 0 R, 3 K, 0 BB, 0 hits (W) The game ended up 6-4. Day came on in the ninth to close and ended up loading up the bases on two hits and a walk with no outs. He then walked a run in. Fortunately, the bleeding stopped there and the next three batters went down in order. Scared me for a few minutes there. The Barons played commanding ball all day long. Collaro seems to really be on fire this year.
  4. QUOTE(mac9001 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 07:14 PM) What'd the rotation look like? Gonzalez Russell Egbert Honel Whisler? Vazquez? ...and i assume Day will close? I had to leave after the 5th inning, but the Barons were ahead 3-1, mostly by capitalizing on errors made in the field. As of the 5th inning the rotation was Whisler, Day, Bittner.
  5. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) How's Honel doing? Exhibition tonight against the split squad. If I get to see him in action tonight, I'll let you know.

  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) Welcome aboard and thanks for your insite. Judging by your name, I take it you see at least a few Baron's games a year? The thing I like about Getz is his ability to play multiple positions (since I see him as a utility player in the long run). Thanks for the welcome! Yep, I live in Birmingham and have season tix for the Barons. Looking forward to seeing the Sox play the exhibition game against the Barons on March 29th.
  8. IMO, Getz is the best 2B I have seen at the Barons since Aaron Miles. Great glove and consistent hitter. I hope to see him again next season, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he gets the call.
