Because you are clueless when it comes to baseball. Or you care about the minor league system and the future of the franchise. And to that I say, f*** the future, win now dammit.

He told me that he told you he was going to the Angels. That bastard! :finger

I don't think so. The offense can suffice without Big Frank, and other decent bats can be found to help with the offense. If we can get another ace pitcher, with that pitcher being probably the most dominant pitcher of his time, you do it. With Johnson-Garcia-Buehrle-Loaiza-Garland, we could win the division with a s*** offense. We need pitching in the postseason, and Johnson-Garcia-Buehrle is quite possibly the best 1-2-3 in the majors.

Leaves Maggs DHing, Rowand in RF. Rowand has more range than Maggs in RF, and a stronger arm too.
-
I talk often to Randy Johnson too. He told me he only wants to go to the White Sox. Both reports have the same amount of credibility to them.
-
Seattle is very familiar with our prospects though too, due to Bob Fontaine's prescence.
-
I like the fact that there are no quotes of Randy Johnson saying that he only wants to go to the Yankees. Very professional rolleyeyes.gif

ROTFLMFAO This line kills me...

I myself was loling at the Rangers article.

No clue. Never heard of the show. I just typed in "Rick Ballou" into the Yahoo search engine and that was the first thing that popped up.

The Rick Ballou Show

I don't. Neither LA nor San Diego will want to give up very good prospects to a team within their own division. As I said before...I see him ending up in Chicago or remaining with Arizona.
-
Cerb(or anyone here)...what is Arizona's biggest need? I ask because I am currently wondering if a 3rd party could maybe get involved...perhaps bring Milwaukee or some other team looking for a good 3Bman and has something Arizona would need. Maybe Seattle could get involved. Anyone else think of something like that?

I hate reading this s***, because I can't get the game till next Friday(when I get my paycheck). But it's like I have to read it. Bastards. Have all the fun why don't you. :finger

I'd take Shea. I just wonder how much more we'd have to give up to get Shea..I imagine it would not be that much. I'd be fine with getting Shea too. Make the trade Crede, Cotts, Diaz, Sweeney, and Rauch, and perhaps we can get RJ, Shea, and Robbie? Or maybe they would just give him to us as a part of the trade, and we only have to include one of Diaz and Rauch.

Of course, you do recall what Garcia did against Oakland this year, right? 7 shutout innings, allowing 4 baserunners(3 hits, 1 walk). I think I'll take that. Also...he was a different pitcher in 02 and 03. He was awful. This year, he has been decent. Another interesting tidbit about Chief...his worst career month is July(a career 4.93 ERA in July). If we can get 2-3 more wins out of him in July, we will be good. This is because his 3rd best month is August, where his career ERA is 3.77, and his best month statistically is the last month, September, where his career ERA is 3.07. Also, sox-r-us, Garland does tend to blow up in the 9th. That's why if it is a close game, Ozzie will take him out. Jonny G only had 90 pitches against Minnesota over 7 innings allowing 1 run. You think that stopped Ozzie from taking him out and putting in Marte?

IIRC, Crede and Olivo for Garcia was going to be the trade, so long as KW was given 72 hours to reach an agreement with Garcia. And then, as you said, Reed and Morse entered the picture. Maybe I just said exactly what you just said. Either way, I see no reason KW would have a hard time parting with Crede. If he was willing to part with him for Garcia, who is a very good pitcher, but is in no way shape or form Randy Johnson, I think he would give him up for THE Randy Johnson. If the Angels truly have passed at the idea of getting RJ, I think he ends up in Chicago or he remains in Arizona, and that's all he does. Apparently, the Cubs do not have the MLB ready prospects the DBacks want, neither the Sawks nor the Yanks do, and I don't see the Rangers or Braves stepping up and paying the price. If all of what I just said is true, IMO, we are the frontrunners for RJ. This RJ to Boston or New York is just smoke and mirrors.

Hell, I did not see it was a 4-game set. With a 4-game set, you have to get 1 of the big 2 atleast. You are right. I just assumed(incorrectly I might add) that because valponick only had the first 3 matchups that it was a 3-game set. My bad. I still think we take 6 of 8 on the trip. BTW, FWIW, Minnesota swept Oakland in a 4-game set in their frist series of the second half last year, though that was in Minnesota.
-
He's not saying that at all. He's saying the Cubs should not even be considered as a potential trading partner with Arizona for RJ, due to the fact that they have 3 pitchers with an ERA under 3.00(Wood, Clement, and Zambrano), along with Prior(4.00), Maddux(4.51), and Rusch(4.06).

He nearly traded Olivo and Crede for Garcia. Looks like 2 regulars to me. Besides, Cotts is hardly a regular. He is a decent LHP out of the pen. Uribe and Harris play together well. And if either start to struggle, we would have Robbie Alomar again as well.
-
What would really cap it off is if we then got Schneider or Kendal(and if Kendall, with Pittsburgh picking up about $15-18 mill of his remaining salary)l.
-
He very well could be. Or he could move to the pen.
-
We avoid the big 2. That's good. I like our chances a hell of a lot. I predict 6-2.
-
I do that deal so long as we do not have to give up Anderson and Arizona throws in Robbie Alomar. Give them Borchard or Sweeney...not Anderson. Crede, Diaz, Cotts, and Borchard/Sweeney for RJ and Robbie? Look good to anyone else? Lineup becomes... Harris - 2B Lee - LF Maggs - RF Thomas - DH(and if he isn't healthy, probably Borchard if he is not traded...otherwise, probably Gload or someone acquired...and obviously lower in the order too) Valentin - SS Konerko - 1B Uribe - 3B Rowand - CF Davis/Burke/Alomar - C with Robbie as a utility IF or insurance in case Harris starts to suck again. Personally, I have no problem with it. KW damn near traded Crede to Seattle for Garcia, I don't see why he would not be willing to trade him to Arizona. And out of the 4 we would give them, only one could be non-major league ready next year(that being Sweeney).

I don't know if I'd look into that too much. It is a Newsday report. Honest to god, I think RJ ends up in Anaheim or Chicago. I have said that before too. The Yanks do not have the prospects for RJ...and unlike that rotoworld report says, they will not get the prospects they need for Jon Lieber. Teams will be smarter then that, and they will not give the Yankees s*** for Jon Lieber. Just because the Yankees have 26 or 27 World Championships does not mean everything goes their way all the time. Boston does not have the prospects to get RJ, and he doesn't wanna go there anyways. The Mets are in the same boat as Boston, and really are not a good offensive team(though Richard Hidalgo has helped them immensely), and I don't think they'll last. I think the Dodgers could get him...however, they may not get him because they do not want to help Arizona beat them in the future by paying a high price for RJ. And almost every other team cannot afford him(and while we cannot really afford him, it does appear JR could be going for broke). A sleeper team to watch out for though is Texas. IIRC, they have a decent minor league system, and could potentially have what Arizona wants in return. Atlanta could also make a push too. However, I really do not think those teams have the desire nor the need nor does their GM have the balls to pull off a move like this right now. While Anaheim's GM(and I can't even think of his name) may not have balls, he does have money, and he does have things to trade...it is really a low-risk move for Anaheim. For KW, this s*** is high-risk, high-reward.
