A-f***ING-MEN I like Rowand a little more then that, but I could not agree any more. It is not possible to.
-
I would too. A year and a half of Randy Johnson could bring us to the promised land. We could win the whole f***ing thing. As of right now, I see 1, maybe 2 teams with a better 1-2-3 then us(that being Oakland and Boston...both matchup better then us 1-2, as Schilling-Pedro and Mulder-Hudson are better then Garcia-Buehrle, but I like our chances with Zito and Lowe/Wakefield against Loaiza). Give us Randy Johnson, and those matchups become Mulder/Schilling-Johnson, Hudson/Pedro-Garcia, Zito/Lowe(or Wakefield)-Buehrle...those look a hell of a lot better to me. Johnson-Garcia-Buehrle is not only the best 1-2-3 in the AL, it is the best 1-2-3 in the majors period, especially when Prior-Wood-Zambrano is ailing. Take out Prior, and it becomes Wood-Zambrano-Clement, and Clement always has the ability to hang a few sliders and lose control and walk 4 guys a game and have 120 pitches by the middle of the 6th. Garland does s*** for us in the playoffs, except maybe come out of the pen as a middle reliever. You can bring in guys to do that s*** for you. Talk to Seattle and dangle Rauch in front of their face and see if they don't give us Guardado. Have Arizona include Valverde in the trade(though I think he's injured right now...or atleast he was injured earlier in the year). There are enough relievers available to make your head spin. If there is a package that includes Garland-Rowand-Borchard-Munoz for RJ(and maybe Valverde...and if they want Crede, make them give us Hillenbrand too), I do it in a heartbeat.
-
No. I do it in an instant too. Garland is not as good a pitcher as apparently everyone thinks. He does not have plus stuff, and quite frankly, he does not have good focus/demeanor on the hill. If we can get RJ for Garland and Rowand, along with a few other prospects, I do it in a heartbeat. If he had stuff like Carlos Zambrano, I could see why we would not give him up. But he does not. He has a mediocre breaking ball, a mediocre sinker, and a fastball that hits 94 when he's at his best. I'll take RJ, thanks.

FWIW, I got it too. Though I would not put giving $30 mill out of Steinbrenner's range. As far as the deal is concerned...I do make that move. Willie and Timo can always share CF duties, and Johnson is so much better then Garland is, it's not even funny. If Schoeneweis decides to continue to suck ass, a cheaper SP can be brought in. f*** the future...win now.

I say we get Harold Baines And seriously, I say f*** it...go get a huge bat to replace him. We need it. Badly.
-
And we'll get f***ed up. We need to make a move to help jolt this team offensively, and it the quicker, the better.
-
Don't quote me on this, but if I had to make a guess, I would say they are already above $100 mill above the average. Their payroll is $186 mill. That's $156 mill over the lowest, which is the Brewers. Someone who is not as lazy as me can figure it out.

Settle down psycho. No one's killing anyone. And just for your information...Jose hit .273 in 2000. That looks like .260 to me.
-
IIRC, we have one series in August against a team above .500(one or two anyways). The Twins have one series in August against a team below. We could easily finish 10-20 games above .500. Another bat will be brought in to replace Thomas for the next 8 weeks, and the pitching will step up. This is the time last year when the team really caught fire. That is, after they lost 10-9 against Detroit. The division is definately ours to lose still.
-
Where at? $35 is f***ing cheap for a brand new game. Even Max Payne 2 was like $50 for the first month or two it was out.
-
Probably the bone scan
-
That was a web gem? The one in the 4th? Timo made an easy play look extremely difficult. He misread the ball badly, luckily caught it, and then fired to an empty first base. Rowand makes that play in his sleep, and then fires home to keep Kotsay(I think that was who was on 3rd) at 3B or get him out at home.
-
How is he being a chickens***? Frank could sit on Jose. And Jose is not the manager of the team either.
-
The Heat will be the better team. Wade at point, Jones as the 2-guard, and Shaq down low? Could equate to 50 wins in the east. If they can make a decent signing or two, they could be very good. I like the Lakers depth, but I don't know how much that helps them in the end. I think they lost too much in losing Shaq. IMO, it is now time to look at Minnesota, Sacremento, Dallas, San Antonio, Denver, and Houston step up. If the Lakers make the playoffs next year, it would not surprise me at all to see them end up as a #7 seed. They lost a ton(like almost literally, a ton), and in the meantime, Houston added T-Mac, Denver added KMart, and Minny, Sacremento, Dallas, and San Antonio have not lost enough to have fallen off the face of the earth. I see Miami as a top 3 seed next year, and I see the Lakers in the lower half of the top 8. Therefore, Heat win.

While I don't like Jonny calling out the umps and going to the press about it(because he will probably be fined for this), he's right. That plate umpire was s*** last night. Harden was getting calls Garland was not...that's not right. And how about the DP that wasn't in the 4th? Beautiful work by the umpires rolleyeyes.gif

Freddy Garcia was there in 2000 and 2001. Esteban made it in 99 with Texas, and made a start against the Yanks(and it was a good start too...7 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 4 K's, though he got the loss) Shingo never gave up a run in the Japanese playoffs(given, that is Japan, but they are similar). Mike Jackson has been there a few times(though I would prefer he not be on the roster). Timo was a huge part of the 2000 Mets getting to the Series. And Valentin, CLee, Maggs, Konerko, and Thomas(if he comes back) have been there too, in 2000 and, in Thomas's case, 93 too. We definately have playoff experience. I can't find the gold glove part for you though.

Blue Jays Ask Delgado to Waive No-Trade Clause
witesoxfan replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If he costs very little and Toronto takes on quite a bit of his salary, yeah, he'd be a pretty damn good pickup. The question is then who sits when Frank gets back? You would have Delgado, Konerko, and Thomas all for 2 positions, DH and 1B. -
You're only about the 29th person to bring that up. And that may only be deferred if he remains with the Diamondbacks(may in that it is total speculation at this point). Sorry.
-
No. We only need Johnson to be put over the top. We do not need Beltran(though he would definately help). I say get Randall Simon and/or Carl Everett. Then we're good.
-
And they have s*** to give up. I think St. Louis could have interest, but when they realize how high the price is, they'll get out.
-
That is like some seriously deep s***. Almost deep enough for me to get into it actually.
-
If true(and I would actually bet money that it is not true) Randy Johnson, welcome to the Arizona Diamondbacks, where you will rot in last place.

U DA MAN!!!!!!! GO BILLS! -
No. Don't read too much into that.

Born in Waco, IIRC, and then went to Rice as Tony said, which is in Houston. No way they let him go.
