  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 23, 2014 -> 09:44 PM) Cmon Conor. 1-4 is not good. Just stroke it; soft liner for a base knock. Just do it. ???
  2. Lefties 1/19 against Robertson this year. 1/20. Almost poked that one down the LF line.
  3. Webb, lefties hitting .140 and righties .289? Those are super weird splits. Jim Thome will appear as a PHer this inning against Thornton...that would be fun.
  4. Probably not going to be able to use Petricka now until next week. Now he's bringing in Daniel Webb, when he could/should have used him against Soriano? We're burning through our entire pen anyway at this rate.
  5. Wow...this outcome wasn't completely predictable, Mr. Manager? All this game needs is Mike Hargrove hitting. Petricka doesn't have a good enough breaking ball to miss bats.
  6. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ May 23, 2014 -> 09:09 PM) This is also going to be a 3:40 or so game with only nine runs scored. Yankees' baseball, nothing like it. More concessions revenues!!! And now we're leaving Petricka in when he's obviously lost his stuff. Sigh. No good options right now with this pen. I'm sure if he gives up more runs, we'll have wanted Webb, though. Or Guerra.
  7. This is a game we really miss Abreu in the middle of the order. Viciedo's been scuffling.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 23, 2014 -> 08:57 PM) I'm not sure how you can be so unprepared in that situation. The coaching staff had to know that the Yankees were going to pinch hit for Johnson with Soriano, right? In that case, the only left handed hitter Downs could have faced was Gardner and Downs should only be pitching to left handed hitters. There were Roberts (switch), Johnson and Gardner in a row, but no way were they going to leave Johnson in there...if for no other reason than nobody could play 1B any worse. I'm not sure how many games Brendan Ryan has played there his entire career, but Eaton or DeAza should bunt at him.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 23, 2014 -> 08:55 PM) Damn we have nine hits and only four runs. We need about five more hits and three more runs. You better make that 4-5 runs with the way the bullpen's been going recently...except for Putnam and Webb.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 23, 2014 -> 08:53 PM) Petricka clearly wasn't ready. I'm not sure why nobody was up in case Downs sucked (no surprise, he sucked against right handers). I don't understand why he wouldn't have used Javy Guerra over Scott Carroll with the White Sox down 4-3...that's not exactly a long man/waste innings situation there.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2014 -> 08:52 PM) Yanks with the lead. Don't worry, the two lefty relievers In AAA combined to give up 8 runs in an inning. Purcey and Veal? De Los Santos? Can't even remember what's left of that bullpen. Well, it could be worse...we could be the Red Sox and lose eight games in a row like the White Sox did this same time last year.
  12. Is Ventura deliberately trying to give this game away to appease all of the Yankees' fans attending the game in raw/cold spring weather?
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 23, 2014 -> 08:49 PM) Ellsbury is damn good. How bout a miracle 6-4-3? He has been completely lost at the plate recently.
  14. Goodbye to your win, Hector. Petricka's really struggling this week with runners on base. Granted, he shouldn't have been put in that situation in the first place. Goodbye, lead.
  15. Either the radar gun's off or Petricka's velocity is down 2-3 MPH. Deliberate unintentional walk to set up the DP?
  16. Pray for a DFA for Scott Downs. Keppinger and Downs the only real black marks on Hahn's resume so far. About $15 million wasted there. Feel a bit sorry for Noesi. He didn't deserve to lose his decision because of Scott Downs/Ventura.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 23, 2014 -> 08:39 PM) Is Matt Thornton still in baseball? What happened to Jenks' comeback? Get Downs out of there. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...king-a-comeback Spinal fusion surgery, Jenks' weight and lifestyle issues...not likely.
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 23, 2014 -> 08:38 PM) Betances was a local draft pick for the Yankees. High school kid out of New York. Aha. Kind of like Hector Santiago out of Newark. Just assumed he was from the Dominican. The Yankees' announcers are comparing his season so far to Rivera in 1996.
  19. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 23, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) Quality start for Noesi. Good job against the LH heavy Yankee lineup. That was honestly the worst quality start in the history of baseball. Noesi's ERA with the White Sox now down to 5.14. Well, by the skin of his teeth, he's earned at least another start.
  20. Ventura looking like a genius that time. Just goes to show how little confidence he has in Scott Downs at this point. And how close we were to seeing Scott Carroll as the "long man" in a game we were trailing the Yankees by only a single run.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 23, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) Does Noesi stink or not? I didn't see the first frame. He has been getting by with smoke and mirrors, like the 2003 Kansas City Royals "We Believe" team led by Jose Lima.
  22. Looks like Ventura will go to Downs against Ichiro. Guess there's no choice but to keep running him out there until Hahn does something to address the situation. 5 walks by Noesi...it's a miracle he has the lead in this game. Noesi against Ichiro? YIKES!!
