  1. man this reminds me of 2007 SO much haha, it's kind of eerie@_@
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:01 PM) Like last game? No, yesterday we weren't facing a pitcher dominating us. I think you missed my point. This team needs to hit homeruns to score 4-5+ runs a game, which is about the amount we would need to have this game tied up with Carmona pitching
  3. man, you take homeruns away from our offense and this is what you get
  4. LOL walks him, javier is done, cold is probably getting to him
  5. lol @ uribe, he's just all around hurting the team today.
  6. the time for quentin in RF may be nigh, dye's defense and speed are seriously in decline. i know it's cold but he looked just like this last year in warm weather
  7. anyone find an early lineup card posted anywhere for this game yet? i wonder if BA will get a chance vs carmona, and uribe sitting on the bench in favor of lexi?
  8. welcome back to the AL, rentaria. meche k's him on 3 pitches. (sorry, not turning this into a game thread lol)
  9. wow, absolutely the worst called third strike call i've ever seen in my life @ the tigers/royals game, on alex gordon, the ball was outside about 5 inches
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Rockstar Dogs named their footlong the Tommy Lee. I don't think many guys would order it. lol
  11. is the lineup in the OP the official opening day lineup, as far as batting order? i checked the mlb.com link to ozzie's final opening day starters, and i couldn't find an official actual batting order of that lineup
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) I assume you'd have Uribe and Alexei flipped in scenario 1. nope. because SS is alexei's strong position, and uribe seems to be better defensively at 2nd than alexei is, granted we've only been able to look at spring training to make decisions like this
  13. i'd actually rather have (assuming uribe is going to be in our lineup) alexei at SS, uribe at 2nd, BA in CF with garland over floyd in the rotation instead of cabrera at SS, uribe at 2nd, alexei in CF with floyd in the rotation i guess that's the way i look at it right now
  14. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) Hey everyone can watch the game . There's a free preview on MLB.com ! this game is on espn also, i think
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) Not true at all. Rain delays, a starter having a bad day, getting hit by a line drive. There are TONS of reasons that you may need a long man. Sometimes you want to burn a game so you can be at full strength next game. When you have relievers with a history of injuries, and your pen is full of specialists, you need someone to flat out eat innings. Is Masset the guy? No, but we need someone to do it. oh, don't get me wrong, i guess i should've been more clear. i'm not against having a long-man in the pen, period, i just don't want it to be masset. because if you're relying on masset to be that long-man/spot starter, then the team is done already. i'd personally rather have broadway in that role, he looked pretty sharp in that last royals series last year it's just that, if we're relying on a long-man this year because one of the 5 guys sucks and can't do the job, or if one of them gets injured, our season is over, whether it's masset or not, i just don't want the long-man to be masset is it finalized that it's simple down to macdougal/masset/wasserman for the final spot, or just wass vs. masset? i'd rather put massett on waivers, bring up broadway and keep wasserman & macD in the pen, assuming macD is already set in stone i just don't like the idea of masset being our longman, he's brutal
  16. this is a no brainer, wasserman. if your starting rotation is having problems with one or more pitchers going more than 5 innings without getting totally abused, needing a longman to come in for relief on those days, or a "spot starter incase someone gets injured or simply can't do their job", then your team is already done for the year, especially when you're relying on masset to be that person to spot start or go long innings so play your strengths, put wasserman in the ROOGY specialist role and hope for the best, because masset isn't going to be able to give this team anything this year, to keep them in contention if another pitcher goes down, it's that simple really. we don't have the depth in pitching to survive a pitcher going down due to injury/sucking, so might as well put the guys on the team that are going to give us our best chance of winning under the assumption that every one of the 5 starting pitchers will stay in the rotation all year
  17. Says "Cotto needs to step up his fanbase, and his superstar status, before I can consider him a competitor" What a joke. After Cotto annihilates Gomez in two weeks, and possibly fights Williams and owns him, Mayweather will still be talking all this BS and continue to dodge cotto, blah!
  18. ugh, i had a huge reply typed up and accidentally hit a shortcut key-combination on this stupid small keyboard and erased the whole thing detroit has so many glaring weaknesses that i don't see how it's possible that they win the division so overwhelmingly as many analysts and people on here are proclaiming starting rotation is garbage after verlander, and that's a fact. can willis be any good in the AL after struggling mightily in the NL last year? we owned him in interleague play in 2007, scoring i think 4 or 5 runs in the first two innings or something. will rentaria be any good at all coming back to the AL? he's been pretty brutal in this league by looking at his splits. can their bullpen do anything besides blow games? they weren't very good last year and they've got even more injuries and holes this year. will jones be good enough for them to close games this year? he gave up 64 hits last year in 61.1 innings, 4.26 ERA and blew 6 saves. is kenny rogers done? he sure looked done to me last year, and he's not getting any younger. zumaya is gone for half of the year or more, and he was their key centerpiece in their bullpen before jones, and was rumored to be grooming into the closer role, now he's gone. i don't see detroit winning more than 89 games, even with magglio, sheffield, polanco, and cabrera in the lineup. granderson showed a lot of upside last year but it was just one year, he could regress this year or put up similar numbers, but the one thing i do know is he's scheduled to miss like the first week and a half to two weeks of the season with a broken hand or something, which could cost them a game or two starting off the season i picked the indians to win the division last year back in may, despite a lot of tiger fans telling me how much of an idiot i was for thinking that. enjoying that crow b****es? cleveland will win the division this year, winning about 94-95 games i'll say, they have a better starting rotation, much better bullpen (the closer is a wash, with a slight nod to borowski) and a slightly worse lineup on paper, though they seem to have the key to beating the white sox year in and year out, vs the tigers not being able to find out exactly how to do that yet, for whatever reason cleveland 94/95 wins tigers 87/88 wins sox 84/87 wins
  19. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 05:17 PM) i don't see how we can be expected to win any games this year with toby hall playing, it's that simple really, he's garbage. TOBY HALL HITS A DOUBLE. Pig just flew past my window
  20. i don't see how we can be expected to win any games this year with toby hall playing, it's that simple really, he's garbage.
