  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) Abreu crushed the piss out of that ball. Giambi just about made it 4-1, he might still do it
  2. Nice Sox baseball right here. Arod get's a base hit to left. This should be a good game /green
  3. 3-2 twins, longoria moon shot
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) Good play or routine grounder? Slow dribbler to 2nd.
  5. Yankees: Here Sox, take the game, we're giving it to you. Just hit the ball. Sox: No. let's go Alexei, get some ribbies here sick, sick baseball.
  6. nice at-bat jermaine. unreal.
  7. clayton richard will be on the playoff roster, out of the bullpen, per ozzie just now
  8. Royals are on a 6 game winning streak, they've won 7 of their last 10 games :/
  9. debbie downer time tonight's game is how we're gonna look against tampa bay in the ALDS (imo) their pitching staff pretty much shuts down the longball, we're gonna have to play similarly to how we played in the game Floyd won, yesterday. string hits together, score with 2 outs, can't keep stranding leadoff doubles if we beat TB in the ALDS (assuming we get there of course), i think we'll be fine for the rest of the playoffs, at least until the world series i see TB as the most formidable team in the post-season
  10. accuscore had yesterday's game at 64% chance of winning for yankees accuscore has today's game at 60% chance of winning for yankees lol
  11. since there isn't a catch-all anymore, i figured i'd throw this in here our defense has been pretty sub-par this year. i went through all of the contending AL teams, and looked at their earned runs allowed and compared it to total runs allowed, then looking at what the percentage of each of these teams runs allowed were unearned runs we're by far the worst. 10.4% of the runs this team has given up in 2008, were unearned runs second is the twins at 9.1% third is toronto at 8.1% (they've given up the fewest total of runs, but have allowed as many unearned as teams that have allowed more runs on the year. for their percentage to drop into the 7% range, they would've had to allow about 10 fewer unearned runs or so) fourth is the angels at 7.7% fifth is tampa bay at 7.6% and the best is the red sox at 7.2% again, these are the percentage of unearned runs from total runs allowed
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 02:26 AM) Why is Jermaine Dye not an MVP candidate? Obviously he is, but he's been nearly as valuable as Quentin has. He's just so damn quiet that he doesn't even seem to garner the consideration for the award. I'm really interested to see who it's awarded to, so that's something I'll be looking forward to. As it is, I just hope Pedroia does not get it. He could very easily get it and you would not hear an argument from me, I just hate his ass. How can you be that good at baseball when you are 5'6? Roidz'
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 02:03 AM) I'm not going to say anything over the top, but I will go as far as saying that if the Sox want to play October baseball, they will. 7-5 against New York, KC, Minnesota, and Cleveland essentially clinches the division, and 6-6 doesn't hurt either. I'm also getting that loving feeling. Ozzie throwing clayton back to the bump tomorrow doesn't help our chances for a 3 of 4 from the yankees, unfortunately His decisions sometimes, just laughable Of course, he *could* win, or rather WE could win (He could leave with a lead, or being down, and we could perhaps score more runs ultimately), but the odds of us winning with someone who's as f***ing bad as Clayton Richard, is very slim, and that pisses me off right now
  14. for what it's worth, ESPN's accuscore had the Sox's chances of winning last nights game at 34%
  15. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) While that may be true, this is not the KGJ that played against Pettite during his AL days, this is the slow bat, pull conscious Griffey now. So those career numbers really shouldn't matter at this point in his career. Regardless, Thome is the better option at DH every night and against any match-up. And I am not so sure KGJ beats Thome by that much in a foot race. this isn't the same petitte either, just sayin
  16. Win this game decisively please, no nail-biters in the 9th inning, can't take many more of those Have a game paulie (please)
  17. wassermullet sucks, i hope we never see him in another game this year he just can't throw strikes consistently, yet he was throwing well in the minors, might be the pressure of being in a pennant race. there was a time where thornton couldn't get the ball over the plate (hell, it happened this year), but he's been pitching well lately horacio is just, wtf MacD, never know what you're going to get, he seems to vary batter to batter, same with Dotel (though as some have suggested, could be related to dead-arm/fatigue) outside of thornton, our pen scares me, I just call them the gas can right now
  18. i'm all for resigning uribe for next year, for a super utility role i'll eat my crow for thinking he'd be useless for this team this year, he's been anything but useless also, i'm probably the only person who's considered this, but how would a, sort of platoon between DH & RF of Dye & Abreu look for us next year, what do you guys think? obviously it would likely never happen, but just think about it both players would be able to enter the lineup on a daily basis both players would get adequate rest from playing the outfield by alternating between DH and the OF we would be getting another left-handed bat in the lineup this assumes thome isn't with the club next year, of course anything that lets us keep Dye's legs fresh, i'm all ears
  19. konerko playing tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! edit: adding more info, konerko took about 30 flips today, and put weight on his knee and said that he told Ozzie he is fit to play first base tomorrow
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) Shot at 3,000? He's only 32, and he's one of the most durable pitchers in baseball. If he averages around 150 K's (that's being very conservative) a year and stays healthy, he should get 3,000 before he's 40. more realistic to talk about 2500 K's, where would he stand on the all-time list at that point? how many pitchers right now have 2500 or more?
