  1. does quentin's batting stance remind anyone else, besides me, of Kevin Youkilis' stance?
  2. looks like cleveland gonna win today ugh..
  3. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) Inge at center? He's damn athletic, but idk how he is out there. I'm sure Lexi will get some love from the ESPN announcers and provide some interesting observations on him even though Quentin should be out there. he's better than cabrera defensively at 3rd, and probably worse than clete thomas in CF
  4. QUOTE(JFields27 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) Alexei Ramirez will be in Center for the Sox -- Swish and Dye at the Corners INF is the regular one we see. For the Tigers, Inge is playing Center, Miggy is back at 3rd and Sheffield will be at DH jesus christ, taking out quentin for ramirez? unreal...
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) dye needs to be in there...hes 9 for 20 with 3 HR lifetime off of verlander interesting quotes from Verlander: we might see a different style of pitching from verlander tonight
  6. hee hee garland crapping the bed today edit: 1-0 A's over tribe ! sweeney 5-10 on the year haha
  7. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:06 AM) I didn't want to put this in a new thread, but how about Swisher's defense today? He looked to be getting some good jumps on the balls, and made some really good plays out there. I haven't watched him out in CF that much, but if he can do what he did today, I'll be impressed. And while talking defense, how about Quentin throwing Renteria out? Hell of a throw and arm... I'm glad he's brought his A-game thus far this season, hopefully it'll make it tougher to keep him out of the lineup. well, he went to stanford. he's probably a relatively intelligent individual and realizes the performance that he needs to exhibit to keep a job on the big league club, he's going to give it his all game in and game out, and we need pretty much every single guy on the team to do that all year long if we plan on making the playoffs contreras, javy, and mark haven't gotten the memo yet unfortunately
  8. i'd have to say Danks first outing, it's only 1 outing but he looked like a friggin stud, moreso than any other time i've seen him during a real MLB game, if he can be that good, or at least nearly that good for the rest of the year, we could have the best 1-2-3 in the AL
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 12:38 PM) So, basically you dont like Gavin? His fastball is not 90 mph. not with toby hall calling the game, i don't.
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/...05&n8pe6c=1 Singleton on BBTN He does a great job, wow.
  11. simply put, if gavin doesn't fall behind every single batter like he did all spring training, he should be fine and allow our hitters a chance to win the game he can't be all over the place, throwing his curve ball 5 feet in front of home plate, or throwing the ball to the back stop, or missing the strikezone completely with his (90mph) fastball seriously, just throw strikes gavin.
  12. QUOTE(Cowch @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 04:44 PM) I could get used to this pen. And I probably will be getting used to it with our starting staff. AJ could easily be the AL player of the week if he keeps it up. I was wondering where those down the line doubles we always saw in oakland were in Swish. But he'll start hitting eventually. This year will be fun when all cylinders are running. Oh and if they win tomorrow Sox are a Verlander killer. what's the weather like in oakland/seattle/texas at this time of year? could it be that OC isn't quite used to starting the year off in 30-40' weather and it might take his bat some time to heat up, same for swish, though oakland is in the upper part of california, not exactly known for it's toasty weather like LA/San Diego not trying ot make excuses, just wondering if there's a simple reason for their slow bats, i mentioned earlier today that it looked like OC was swinging a 45oz bat today
  13. QUOTE(max power @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:28 PM) I was in the shower for the replay. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?g...gameday#gameday 9th inning, at the center/bottom of the screen, there's a video link to the dye catch with a slow-motion replay of it
  14. QUOTE(max power @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) I don't think he caught it. Oh well. Win. he caught it, watch the replay, his glove was on the ground and the ball landed right inside it, fortunately. lol
  15. 4 games, only 1 decision by a starter and it's a loss to javy. hopefully the starting rotation starts to look better starting tomorrow
  16. come on bobby, your stuff is good if you just throw it over the plate, don't try to get fancy..
  17. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) tigers working bobby hard he can't throw his curveball right now, so they aren't swinging at really bad pitches, not really "working him hard", just not helping him out swinging at balls bouncing 5 feet in front of the plate
  18. polanco has a good approach facing bobby, i have to admit, his swing is super-short on 2 strikes edit: regardless, 1 down
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) It's April 4th. Seriously, the 4th or April. is this multiple choice? i choose 4th!
  20. i'm going to give it a month before i say our pen is lights out, i remember when the pirate made everyone here thinking we found a diamond in the rough last year, a couple innings for our pen in extremely un-baseball like weather doesn't really prove much yet...
  21. bad pitch to swing at JD, oh well
  22. nice inning by dotel
  23. swisher starting to show his defensive liabilities in CF, i can see that position really wearing him down over the course of the year. did you see the look on his face right there?
  24. QUOTE(lostfan @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 02:33 PM) Last Play: J. Uribe grounded into double play third to first to first to catcher, C. Quentin out at home lol what? quentin was on third, crede on second, 0 outs. uribe grounded out, out at 1st, but crede and quentin apparently thought a run on contact-play was on, so both took off, they threw out uribe then doubled off quentin quickly at 3rd, crede remained at 2nd, it was brutal.
