I am told that a TGIFridays is being put in CF behind the batters eye for this upcoming season. Does anyone know about the sox getting rid of the blue seats and all blue paint and changing it to green in the future? jeff

First, to Mac9001, your little signature picture on the bottom has a logo saying , WhiteSox, soon to be 2003 AL champs. Yet in your predictions you have them Oakland as the AL Champs? So, make up your mind. Here we go AL East New York Boston Toronto Baltimore Tampa AL Central Chicago Minn KC Cleve Det AL West Oak Sea Anaheim Tex Wild Card Boston NL East Atlanta Phil NY Mon Fla NL Central Houston St. Louis Chicago Pitt Cinn Mil NL West SF AZ LA Col SD Wild Card St.Louis Houston over SF St.Louis over Atlanta Houston over Atlanta White Sox over Boston NY over Oak White Sox over New York White Sox over Houston AL MVP Maggs NL MVP Berkman

Some of the farthest homers I have ever seen hit have come from Frank Thomas, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa in the HR Derbies. Thomas hit one in HR derby in Pittsburgh 512 feet, McGwire in Boston was a monster, and Sosa every year hits them around 520 feet. Now, in an actual game McGwire hit a moon shot in the Kingdome off Randy Johnson that was mighty impressive. Then there was Glenallen Hills shot that left Wrigley, across the street and landed on the roof of a building across the street. They measured it at 460 but common, that is just a bomb. But the farthest ball I ever seen while being at the game is Eric Chavez two years ago at Comiskey. I think Glover was pitching and Chavez tagged a ball that cleared the RF bleachers, cleared the whole concourse and actually hit about 4 feet up off the bathroom wall. 500 plus i would have to say. With the home run derby coming to Comiskey it will be interesting to see if anyone can put it out of the park for the first time ever. Over the Concourse and through the openings by the light tower in left. Sosa has a shot. Cant wait to see it, hope I am there Jeff

Ivan Rodriguez and J.Cruz,Jr. on the southside

Hey, I knew all the worker bees would come out to protect there queen, she can use that kind of language and no one says a word. There might be young Sox fans on here who read these boards. And I dont care if you are a man or a woman, talking like that lacks class. Just because she has 2000 posts and I have 15 or whatever doesnt make her God. I have written for this site and enjoy everyone's opinion. But HSC has just shown a lack of respect for all people who post on here. Be civil HSC, no need to get all defensive with me. As for my woman fan comment, maybe I should have re worded it. Sorry to all of you who have your nose up her butt. She is just a fan like everyone else, except her Ego is ten times bigger then everyone elses. If she said that the Sox should bring back Chris Sabo you would all agree. Be leaders. I have agreed with her before and tried to be civil with her, but her attitude stinks and her language disrespectful. As for all of you who like Aaron Rowand, give me a break. The guy stinks. Hustle and heart only get you so far. I can not believe the Sox are not going out and getting a new CF. And by the way, he can not even throw or hit right now because of his dirt bike injury. Will not be ready for spring traing, and I HOPE that he is not ready for opening day. In closing, I will say good luck to the Sox , and their quest to prove Ms. Disrespectful wrong. jeff -
Ivan Rodriguez and J.Cruz,Jr. on the southside

Real classy, really classy. You disgust me with your language and for your info, looks like Rowand wont be ready by spring training. He is a BUM. You like Olivo and Rowand, but do not like Colon. Typical woman fan who thinks she knows baseball. -
Ivan Rodriguez and J.Cruz,Jr. on the southside

To you HOTSOX chick, I realize that we need another pitcher, but the remaining FA out there are BUMS, and for you to call IROD over the hill is insane, he is a future Hall of Famer. Cruz is better then Rowand. So if you rather have Rowand and Olivo....(both bums) starting the season over Cruz and Irod, you are the one in the wrong. You claim that we need another pitcher, which i do agree with you there, but if we do get another pitcher you will just bash him and say he sucks and why feel good about it until we win the world series. Your whole negative attitude when we got Colon makes me sick. By the way, nice mouth, shows alot of class. Jeff -
The Baltimore Orioles have offered Ivan Rodriguez and Jose Cruz Jr.(JCJ) contracts. It looks like the Orioles may get JCJ for under 2mil and I am not sure about IROD but it can not be more then 8mil a year. After we got Colon KW mentioned that Jerry Reinsdorf is serious about winning a world series, heck, he is closing in on 70 years old. I think getting JCJ at under 2mil is such a steal. He had a down year due to injuries last year, but was a 30-30 man the previous year while hitting from both sides of the plate and playing great D in centerfield. I do not have to talk about Ivan Rodriguez because everyone knows what he would add to this team. I know we need a pitcher but here is my plan for Reinsdorf. Sign Ivan Rodriguez to a 1 year deal and lace it with incentives. If we might only have Colon for one year, lets go for the whole #### thing this year and give a year to IROD. Put Olivo back down in the minors where he belongs for another year and let Sandy Alomar back up IROD when he needs rest. Go sign Jose Cruz Jr for one year and give him incentives too.....a one year contract for the both of them is not out of the question for us. After obtaining these two players are offense would be stock piled, even if it is only for a year. Take a look.... D.Jimenez I.Rodriguez F.Thomas M.Ordonez J.Cruz Jr P.Konerko C. Lee J.Valentine J.Crede Are you kidding me????? With this lineup, and the addition of Colon to our staff, and Koch and Gordon to the bullpen we should be a cinch for the AL Central. Then, down the stretch, pick up that veteran pitcher for the playoffs. Trade a few prospects to give us another solid pitcher to go in the playoffs with Colon, Buerhle , and Garland. Maybe we trade for Wood down the stretch, or if the Mets flop again we get Al Leiter. I just say things are looking good right now. But adding Irod and JCJ would make us WORLD SERIOUS

Now that I look at it, why even get Daal, he is nothing to speak of, actually, he is s***ty. Ritchie is better then Valdes, I do not want Valdes, he is a piece of s***. We blew it already. Sitting on our asses watching guys like Glavine, Hampton, Ortiz, Byrd, Colon, Vazquez slip away. We suck
-
I was very optomistic about Ortiz and getting others, but now I know we truly will not do anything. Im sick to my stomach with this offseason so far. We have no pitching, no CF, no catcher, we are the same team as last year.
-
I agree , I am discusted with KW not doing s***, and I am sick of hearing that we are a small market team. There are 10 mililon people in this city, and we have one of the richest owners in all of sports. You are right, f*** the Braves, and the Yankees, but f*** us more for being pussys and not getting anyone. DISCRNTLED

Is a naming rights deal in the works?
kruzer31 replied to suffering-nomore-sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There is already a Pepsi Center in Colorodo for the Avalanche. Even though you hate Yahoo, they are a big sponsor fo the White Sox. Let them rename the stadium for all I care, as long as it brings the HR porch and the new upper deck Jeff -
Aaron Rowand brings nothing to the Sox anyways, I hope he is OK but I hope we bring someone else to play center field. He is not as good as everyone thinks and showing hustle and heart makes people think he can hit .310 and hit 15 homers and steal 30 bases. It wont happen. Remember, the Sox could have had Lidle for Rowand last year during the beginning of the season. Now they are giving up Lee for him? Common Kenny, what is with you. With Rowand hurt and Lee possibly gone we have only Mags in the OF, oh well. Jeff

Anyone hear anything different about Sox Fest then what is already up on the White Sox main site? I like that Ron Kittle and Baines will be there. But how bout bringing more players back from the 83 team to celebrate the 20th anniversary of winning ugly. Id like to get Greg Luzinski, Richard Dotson, Rudy Law, and Greg Walkers autograph. But most of all, can Rob Gallas and the Sox marketing team get Carlton Fisk to come out and sign? Does anyone have some new ideas that they could start having at Sox Fest? It is a great time there and I would love to hear others input on the weekend. JEFF

Well, I can't say I totally agree with your assessment of Jeff Liefer. He was just the odd man out last year. When Frank was hurt in 2001 he played and hit 18 dongs in around 300 at bats. If Liefer goes to another club and gets 600 at bats he may hit 35 homers. No Joke. And if Thomas is not back next year, why not give Liefer the 600 at bats at DH for the 2003 Sox. Look what happen when the Sox gave Konerko a chance. Made the Reds and Dodgers look foolish to let Paulie go. I do believe Liefer strikes out alot but he could put up these numbers if given 600 at bats next season .265, 34, dare i say 100 rbi?????? Jeff

no, i say keep the current uniforms...just use the old logo hitter with sox underneath for a patch on the sleeve in out colors of today...thats all jeff
-
Is it possible to bring back this logo,,,,just the hitter, not the wording underneath , as a patch on the sleeveless home jerseys. Change the hitter to an all white logo with black and sliver outline, would make a great patch. Jeff

No one can knock what A.Belle did. Ventura went down in 97 which killed us and for some reason the Big Hurt wasnt the Big Hurt when Belle came aboard. Albert Belle was a monster for the White Sox. The one year he hit like 49 dingers and 160 rbis, both franchise records. He was well worth the cash, and was never a problem with us. Yes, he was supposed to help us get to the world series, and he tried, it was not his fault. Anyone disagree? Jeff

There is a way that Clemens can become available if he opts out of his contract with New York, I believe it is his option to do so, not the teams. The odds of him wanting to picth here are not good. But the White Sox could lure him with an incentive laden contract for one year. He will definitly bring the fans out and would be nice to see him win number 300 in a Sox uniform just like Seaver did in 85. I know I wrote about getting Person and Moyer but just think if we had Clemens and Moyer. Ahhhh, dreams. Someone brought up Shane Reynolds, I just dont like him. He is always injured, and i mean always. I know Person is coming off shoulder surgery but he has more of an upside then Reynolds who is at the tail end of his career. Anyone like Shawn Estes? How bout Chuck Finley? Maybe Pedro Astacio. Sox priorities in order should be The Rocket, Moyer, Person, then Astacio. Forget Reynolds, he is an accident waiting to happen. Jeff
