9/20 Sox v. Royals; 6:10PM CDT - WGN
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) This team is so maddening. They just refuse to put any real seperation between themselves and the Twins.

That was the June version of Uribe going after that bad pitch with that weak ass swing. Come on guys. This is Kyle f***ing Davies.

That was almost a frozen rope by Swisher there.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) It was rookie of the year not MVP. Why the f*** can't a fan base just be honest with themselves? Why is there this need to be dishonest with themselves? If there's actually anyone out there who still thinks Alexei is deserving of the ROY then they either don't follow any team outside of the Sox or are baseball retarded. There is no case for Alexei. Yeah, that's what I meant and I thought I typed ROY. I'm doing 2 things at once. Actually 3 if you count typing on this board.

QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) 93% yes. Heh, I thought so. Hometown love FTW. Looking past my own homerism, it seems pretty clear to me that Longoria is the better player. Although I would love if Alexei won it.

I was just typing a class assignment when they read the vote on Alexei deserving MVP. What did it say? I voted no.

Mack was like putting Dye in CF.

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 06:53 PM) Wise had a better chance coming from left. Or even Anderson from the dugout. Still, weeks later, it's real dumb having Griffey in center. Wise or Anderson would've both been busting their asses to that ball to make that play. That kind of mental mistake is not something I'd expect out of one of the best baseball players of all time.

Ok Dye, that was much, much better.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 06:50 PM) I am surprised it took this long for someone to hit an Inside the Park dong with Griffey and Dye patrolling CF and RF. Yeah... that is one of the slowest RF/CF combos in the league. It's not a coincidence that Ichiro hit one in last year's All-Star game to Griffey.

QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) Where the f*** was the backup from Griffey? For a guy that has so much experience, you would think he would actually be doing his job once in awhile. I don't think he has the range to be anywhere near that ball... but the ball DID go back towards CF, he should've at least been somewhat close to it. He broke towards it way too late.

Ugh, I can't even really get mad at Dye for falling on his ass there... that was way too far into right to think about Griffey backing him up.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 06:22 PM) No, I think it split them. However, it was scary how slow they were going after it. It was like neither one of them knew whose ball it was, and they were both trying to back the other up in case they didn't get there in time.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 06:17 PM) I can't tell because that ball was so far from either of them, but should that have been caught??? It sure seems like it. It looked like he thought Dye was going to get it because when he saw it was about to fall, he sped up. Dye was jogging too.

9/20 Sox v. Royals; 6:10PM CDT - WGN
Was that jog Griffey's normal running speed?

It's all up to Harris, Punto, and Gomez to spark a 7-run rally.

Lefty Floyd looks to follow in Buehrle's footsteps

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) It's even funnier with the picture they are using. I get a strange feeling of deja vu... didn't they do this with Danks a while back?

Rank Our MLB Roster: Best to Worst
QUOTE (3E8 @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 01:22 PM) Wow, look at Wise. If that was normalized for playing time, he'd skyrocket to the top Only if he bats against RHP all the time. He's been murdering it this year. Against LHP in a fraction of the ABs he has a .308 OPS. Wise should start against every RHP for the rest of the year and see some time in the playoffs as well, if possible.

The Democrat Thread
Not sure where exactly to post this, but if anybody was wondering where the stereotypes of Republicans being racist comes from, this partially explains it: Notice that the Republican part of the chart is always ahead on everything negative, and behind on everything positive. Does this mean that the Republican party is racist? Of course not. But there are many more Republicans than anyone else who hold negative views of blacks as a whole.

Injury status aside
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 12:52 PM) Fair enough, but the Sox are obviously having these conversations just in case, so we can too. They wouldnt be doing all this medical stuff w/ Quentin if they werent at least giving it a shot. Because the question is would you debut him in the Minnesota series when he could be super rusty. while Wise is currently hitting for power, laying down bunts, speed, some d, etc. Other option is trying to seal the deal in Minny w/o him, and then use him in Cleveland to get him a little time to acclimate. Oh, I see. I'd play him one game to see where he's at, and what kind of at-bats he's getting.
-
Injury status aside
I'm having trouble understanding the question. If we aren't worried about his injury status or are otherwise disregarding it, why wouldn't you play him?

Five Best Things Congress Has Done In The Past 25 Years
QUOTE (YASNY @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:55 AM) Impressive list we going here. Me: YASNY, what would you say was the biggest accomplishment in your life? YASNY: Um, well that time I did nothing I guess, because I couldn't f*** anything up that way. Seriously I think there's a little something to that. The government seems to mess things up when it tries too hard.

50 FAVORITE WHITE SOX PLAYERS
QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) First pitch: Ball One. Why? Because Frank Thomas didn't swing at it. The umpire knows that if Frank doesn't swing, it has to be a ball. Second pitch: A screaming foul ball! A souvenir that everyone, yet no one really wants. Is a broken hand worth a baseball hit by Thomas? Ummm...yep. Third pitch: In the left field bleachers, 400 feet away. Tie Game. This part of the write-up is AWESOME
