  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 05:45 PM) First Sox home night game of the season = annual reminder that I hate living in the Eastern time zone. Try following the Sox from the UK (or, as Joxer does, Ireland)!
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) Nationals See the guy that gave up their first runs last night, and then he holds them silent for 2.1 innings. Keep that up, Bruney. Yep, the beard did good.
  3. Nationals dodge Danks thinking they'll get a shot at a stretched BP. Who comes in? JFP. Keep it up, Jake.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) Oh s*** JFP rubbing some sort of ointment on his arm for super strength. That was just for the tattoos.
  5. Caught a break there with the bad call; thought AJ threw out a runner and then realised it was Blastro.
  6. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 3, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) Just read an article on Larry Walker in Denver Post -- He is out of baseball and would love a coaching gig. He had one of the best five year runs of all time (1997-2001). reat hitter, great defensive OF, etc. At least that way the 'Fire Walker' threads would live on.
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 11:23 PM) Cabrera doesn't know what the word "stop" means. Just ask his wife. Or his bartender.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 06:51 PM) Personal gain is what drug use is about 100%. Any they are cheating a lot more than themselves. Hamilton cheated his family, his friends, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to start with... His drug use wasn't to pad his numbers and gain a bigger contract. Giambi > Hamilton in terms of callous disregard for others.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) People hate Giambi, a juicer who cleaned up and pretty much admitted what he did, yet Hamilton is a hero after nearly killing himself on something way more dangerous. I don't get it. One is premeditated and aims to cheat fans, clubs and peers for personal gain. The other is an often tragic tale of addiction and loss that isn't cheating anyone but themselves. I see a massive difference between the two.

    There are a lot of problems this side of the pond, with many people also cancelling subscriptions. However mine still works. They keep adding and changing it every year, the product was fine!
  11. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) anyone else having streaming issues with mlb.tv today? very very pixelated/choppy video You are not alone, I am too.
  12. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 09:43 PM) it's only spring, yadda yadda ("He yadda yadda'd me!") Vazquez, J IP:2.1 H:5 R:5 ER: 4 BB:2 SO:3 HR:2 ERA:15.43 why no game threads today? Could be worse: Zito IP:0.2, H:7, ER:8, BB:2, SO:0, ERA: 108.00
  13. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) Welcome aboard! Thanks On the subject at hand: the Internet and it leading to further Sabrmetrics. From a personal perspective, and probably that of many UK fans, I would hardly have the interest in Baseball I do now had it not been for the Internet. The additional media it holds and access to news is a fantastic tool given its limited coverage here. To the numbers. I hold merely a passing interest in those outside the usual spectrum of stats, I prefer to watch the game for what it is. I do, however, admire the dedication of those who have pioneered such fields of research into these areas. With an over saturated media driven era hungry for information and interesting facts; subjective opinion doesn't cut it anymore. An article written by Josh Chetwynd has a great take on the numbers surpassing the spectacle: Enough with the numbers 5th entry down. You might want to ignore the first paragraph! "When Jim Thome smacked his 500th home run this past week, I simply shrugged and wanted to watch another highlight"
  14. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) There aren't too many Sox fans around me, so this is the next best thing. Try following them from the UK!
