Is our offense still too power oriented????? Griffey is still a good hitter, but he is aging and hits for a low average and is a below-average CF. Also, he no longer runs well and could clog the basepaths. While possible, it's hard to have a deep playoff run with just a lineup of power hitters (only once in 40 years). Even AJ and Alexei (especially Alexei) are free-swingers. Cabrera is not a true leadoff hitter. He is more suited for the 2 hole. I get concerned watching them try to hit good pitching, b/c they all swing for the fence. And you'll see nothing but good pitching in the playoffs (assuming they get there) and it's hard to hit 3 or 4 HR's off Joe Saunders or Josh Beckett no matter who's hitting, good pitching shuts down good hitting. I hope they trade for either a good contact hitter or a speed player, they badly need it. Junior may be a HOFer, but he is past his prime and will not cover the gaps the way he used to.
