Tom Verducci: Appreciate Thomas and Griffey
JorgeFabregas replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The problem is with the byline/summary, which Verducci probably didn't write. In his piece it says 'More importantly, Griffey and Thomas have hit a combined 1,110 home runs through that era without a hint of suspicion about turning to illegal drugs. " -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) Could Ozzie's use of Carlos Quentin in the leadoff spot -- as opposed to Ozuna or Ramirez -- be a sign of a total shift in leadoff-man philosophy for Ozzie Guillen? Has he finally come around to the theory that OBP > Speed at the top? Or am I just being overly optimistic? He has said as much. I think his actions suggest that you have to take him at his word. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) Even I'll struggle to find something negative to say about this game. I'll give it a shot. A win is a win and a shutout is a shutout, but it'll be hard for Floyd to have consistent success if he doesn't get his K:BB ratio up. -

The Toby Hall tidbit was kind of amusing.

I think he's capable of having some .900+ OPS seasons in his career, especially if he's playing at the Cell. His minor league average is .953--it wouldn't seem improbably for his major league average to be somewhere around .850-.875.

Buehrle (0-0) vs. Verlander (0-0)- KEEP IT UP!!

QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) I know its not a popular opinion on this board, but i still stay it is the dumbest thing in the world that crede and fields can't exist on the same team long term. i dont understand the huge push to get rid of crede. i know he is coming of surgery and who is agent is but there is no one who has hit more big hits then joe in the last five years on this team. Where's he gonna play? -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:37 PM) The Tigers intentionally walking AJ when being down by 7 runs is pretty pointless and is now leading to some more runs. Maybe Guillen is right about Leyland being overrated. KEEP IT ALIVE FOR BA! YES! You do have to wonder why Leyland opts to bat I-Rod first. -

QUOTE(Fotop @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Ok, who called up Fields...put him in Crede's jersey and started him at third tonight? Come Clean. Fields gets the ball to first just fine. It's the whole glove thing that's a problem for him. -
Gavin "Pretty Boy" Floyd vs. D-Train, Going for three!

Willis has pitched only one game against the White Sox in his career. He went only one inning while giving up four runs, including a Josh Fields HR. By my count, he has an ERA of 2.85 and WHIP of 1.378 vs. AL teams. He threw a complete game in his only career start vs. his new team. Floyd has more IP vs. Detroit than any other of theam. Detroit has batted .303 against him, but his ERA vs. the kitties is only 2.66--thanks largely to an excellent 19:2 K:BB ratio. -

Sounds like Dye has two misplayed balls today and had one yesterday. His defense is really hurting the team.
