  1. Robert is at .353/.441/.549 over the last month, so I’m not upset that he’s staying. Hopefully he keeps it up for the rest of the year and they pick up his option.
  2. He was very good for them until recently - his last 14 IP he's given up 13 runs. Guessing the Cubs think he's cooked.
  3. Makes sense to me, if the Sox aren't getting any interesting trade proposals with at least one guy they can squint and see an MLB player out of, then why bother trading him just for the sake of trading him? Let him stay here, help the younger guys and maybe be a solid platoon outfielder again next year.
  4. Maybe the leak on Vientos was less "the Sox want him" and more "the Mets are putting this out there to let teams know Vientos is up for grabs"
  5. Trading any player on the MLB roster for scraps, or for guy who isn't likely to make it to MLB just isn't worth it unless you're doing the player a favor or setting up a relationship for future trades. If the offers for Robert are not providing any real potential assets they might as well keep him and exercise the option, or just let him go in the offseason. If the rumors are true and they can get something like a top 10 guy + a low level guy with promise, then they should take that. If not, don't just trade him for something that isn't likely to provide any future value.
  6. The Sox could be completely stupid I guess, but I assume that if a package of prospects equivalent to or better than Vientos was offered, Robert would be gone by now.

I am not immensely enjoying the Guardians having a gambling scandal with a starter and their top tier closer no siree I do not exist solely for schadenfreude at all.

And that's why teams want him - he's got a ton of upside and wouldn't cost much right now. You'd only trade him if some team was willing to meet you close to halfway on his current value vs. potential value, and no one is going to do that because it'd make his lower potential outcomes way too expensive to obtain.
  9. He's looked better recently - .235/.357/.529/.887 over the last 14 days (10 games). Hopefully he's figured something out.
  10. Rasmussen has been pretty bad over his last three starts, that ballpark is a bandbox, and the Sox are hot right now. So we know they're gonna score 2 runs or less.
  11. I know it's a personal preference thing, but I am much happier complaining about the heat than the cold.
  12. Super glad I can't watch this one legally because of MLB blackout rules, but I get it. I'm a quick 3.5 hour trip from Tampa after all.
  13. Of course the most runs Houser gives up as a Sox player is to the Pirates
  14. Burrows has been basically untouchable so far. Wide strike zone not helping.
  15. They are hitting Houser hard so far. Hopefully they won't have much to show for it. EDIT: Nope! Leadoff triple is stranded. The Pirates are real bad.
  16. Law REALLY wanted to work that pun in
  17. If only the Sox were like the Bulls. Then we would all be happy.
  18. Were the analytics Haber used for Gonzalez based on "which draft pick is going to end up being an immediate disappointment"?
