The idea behind acquiring Doyle is the same as Vargas. See if they can fix some of his flaws and turn him into a valuable OF option. Guy puts up anywhere near a 100 wRC+ and he's a valuable player with his defense. Maybe they could've grabbed him in the offseason, maybe not. Take him now, get to know him, help him out more this offseason and see if you can get something valuable for a guy who likely is gonna suck in the majors and be a decent reliever at best.

Gausman had a no trade here so it's a moot point anyway.

They already have Grichuk who does the same thing. I guess you could play Adell in right but he's terrible on defense. You could DH him but then they're carrying 2 DHs with him and Benintendi. He just wasn't a great fit and he absolutely cannot hit righties.

Adell was a negative bWAR player with the Angels this year and has put up the STELLAR fWAR lines of 0.5, 1.2, 0.1, 0.2, -0.2, 0.1 and -1.4 in his career. At least Doyle has an actual decent season under his belt. 🤣

Like I said in the other thread, he should've traded for every rental on a heater but only when they are on a heater.

Yea man I remember the uproar when Adell was traded to the Guardians. Everyone just knew he was gonna be great there.

Well that sucked

Now how’s about one of those seven run homers?

It’s a lot to ask your offense to score 11 and then 9 so far tonight, especially when you’re immediately down by multiple runs.

His whole thing was coming in with guys on and getting out of it.

Brazoban cannot go an outing without giving up a run

They would score 810 runs in a season if they averaged 5 per game. That would have been 3rd in baseball last season. 5 is plenty. The pitching needs to not suck so bad.

They scored 7 and 5 runs in the first two games against the Mets

It's games like tonight and the middle game against the Mets that are rough. Just blow up the bullpen and make the offense have to fight back from 5 down by the 5th.

The starters? Kay and Fedde have, Burke has been meh lately, Urquidy and Castillo had one good start each.

If you're down big early in games it wears on you. Guys are pressing. Pitching needs to hold it together better than this.

Two worst guys right now to be up in that situation. Second to last pitch was probably a ball and I support a challenge because of how big that pitch is but I also get being cautious with only one remaining.

Dude if the catcher is telling the pitcher to pull down on the pitch then it’s probably going to be a ball. You just saw a slider in the zone so you know the rotation on it. Come on.

Garbage

Colson is late on the fastball

Now how’s about one of those grand slams?

Luckily Rocker sucks too. Up over 50 pitches in the third.

Now how’s about one of those three run homers? I swear this is gonna work someday

Good start. Glad we’re the top run scoring offense in the AL cuz we’re gonna need it
