  2. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) If Thome reaches a certain amount of PA, his option automatically kicks in. Jim has made a ton of money over his career, but I don't see him walking away from 14 million. Anyone got the number? Per mlbtraderumors, Thome may only need 564 AB's, not 664. He can probably get to 564. Thome's '09 Option By Tim Dierkes [June 26 at 8:11am CST] Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times discusses Jim Thome's '09 option. Cowley says Thome needs 392 more plate appearances this year for the $13MM salary to vest. The White Sox can choose a $3MM buyout if it does not vest. However, both Cot's Baseball Contracts and the Chicago Tribune indicate that Thome's '09 option vests if he tallies 564 PAs this year. He already has 274, so he needs 292 more. He should be able to pull it off if he starts 75 more games. The White Sox have 85 games left. Today's game is the last in an NL park, so Thome can go back to DHing regularly. This option will go right down to the wire. Thome may be back regardless, according to the Tribune in February. The White Sox have been getting a half price deal on his contract; the Phillies paid them $22MM. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. ump's in play...i thought he was going to hit him too
  4. Danks seemed to work quickly today - it suits him well. Kind of Buehrle-esqe.
  5. I'll wait and see. Remember, on May 16, 2007 Aardsma had a 1.64ERA and 27 K's in 22IP.
  6. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) SF and the Angels would make the most sense for Crede especially SF who are known to like the veterans. The thing with them is they don't have much that we want (they will not give us Lincecum or Cain) and I think KW wants more impact/ready guys instead of spects at this time. rumors in SF were Misch and Roberts for Crede, but with the Swisher deal, I don't think it works.
  7. QUOTE(scenario @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) I read somewhere recently that the Dodgers have had 18 third baseman since Adrian Beltre left after the 2004 season. Maybe Crede ends up in Dodger blue? or he could end up in SF Feliz talks run aground Chronicle Staff Report Wednesday, January 9, 2008 Contract talks between the Giants and incumbent third baseman Pedro Feliz appear to be stalling. Sources said the team offered Feliz a contract of less than the three years he is believed to be seeking, and no deal was struck despite a deadline imposed by the team. Contract length appears to be one significant stumbling block. General manager Brian Sabean said last month he would agree to a deal of less than three years. Before the 2007 season ended, Feliz hinted he was hoping for a longer deal. A passing deadline does not necessarily mean Feliz is gone, but does mean that with five weeks before spring training, the Giants might have to intensify trade talks for Scott Rolen, Joe Crede or any other third baseman who might be available.
  8. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) Crede is going somewhere... and probably soon. Could it be SF?
