Just my 2 cents about hiring an MLB manager: --Hiring a guy with no coaching or minor league managerial experience is dangerous for the game. We're losing out on guys that put in the time and develop baseball instincts. If a guy has major league managerial aspirations and didn't play in the big leagues for years, he is at a huge disadvantage in becoming a manager. There are exceptions, but we're seeing a lot of Celebrity Managers these days, it's not good for the game as a whole. --You should hire a guy that fits in with a philosophy that fits in with the type of team you're fielding. --Once you hire a manager that fits in with what you're fielding, a three year contract is pretty standard. If that manager doesn't stand out after three years, you move on to the next one. I'll admit, a lot of managers are interchangeable. You can give them the information, they can play by the book, and do nice interviews before the game and after the game...and they may actually win because the talent is superior. But if the manager doesn't stand out and doesn't win when you're trying to win, that manager should be replaced.

Honest answer...I don't care as long as they hire somebody with major league coaching staff or minor league managerial experience. Somebody that fits into a vision for the team they are fielding...ya know, somebody with a plan. And if/when this person proves they suck too, they fire them after three years.

Ventura stays. Cabrera back Tuesday. Jackson goes on the DL Tuesday, and Coats stays up. Anderson stays in Charlotte. Purke goes down when Shields is added. Nothing exciting, I know.

I watched the MLB Network preview this morning. Is it me, or does this draft look extremely thin?

Sox come home on June 5th with 29 wins. 13-12 at home, 16-16 on the road. Not the way anyone thought they'd get there though.

It sucks that this has happened. The Sox got good crowds against the Royals. There are fans out there that were ready for a good summer of baseball and contending all season. Now, it seems that will go up in flames unless they get hot at home this week. These are must win series...all of them.

4-5 at home would bring the Sox to 33-33. A nice symmetry of starting 23-10, then going 10-23. That should send somebody home.

Coats is a good reminder to take AAA stats in perspective.

June 16 would be a good day for a Ventura canning if they don't have a winning homestand. Day off, and the Sox fly to Cleveland that night.
