Maybe this is why Illinois basketball is in shambles every year. They need to recruit Chicago and Chicago seems to be a cesspool in every facet of society.

This is stupid and I'm not even an Illini fan. I would accept THT's commitment and go from there. Ayo Dosunmo really gonna make himself look stupid and de-commit after all the "staying home" talk last week? You can't let guys like this dictate what you do with your program. He's good and it's a big deal for Illinois but he's not like some immediate top 3 pick or something.

Rumors that it isn't just Ayo, but the Irvins too. If the Illini chose to take THT it may have cost them a good chance at guys like Okoro, Miller, and Whitney.

 

I would have called Ayos bluff too if it didn't have the Irvins backing it.

Well, talk about your fork in the road decision by Underwood. Hope it's the right one long term. I hope he or his assistants are still tight with Robert Smith at Simeon. This is a bad look, even if he's picking the better player. I wonder how much Miller's recruitment next year plays into this.

I guess they feel pretty strongly with Okoro, Miller, and Whitney by doing this. Simeon pipeline is pretty dried up. Definitely not a good look though.i feel bad for THT and wish him luck.

It sure is sounding like THT to Illinois, still not sure what the severity is of Ayo's camp stance is. There's hope, but I wouldn't be surprised by either direction at this point.

Quite frankly, the staff would get killed if they lose Ayo in one week. They cannot afford the PR hit, they can't comment on it and Ayo can, they would lose.

Just 4 days ago he talked about building a legacy at Illinois. How he values loyalty. If he leaves it definitely doesn't look good. Luckily, I've read that even if he does leave the Irvins still really like the staff. Apparently the Irvins want the kids to play together, Ayo and THT don't mind, but it's Ayo's parents for some reason that have the biggest issue.

Ugh, I HATE CPL recruiting. It's such a big thing for Illinois but the drama and craziness that comes with it is exhausting.

 

THT announcing Thursday, at this point Illinois has to choose between him and Ayo (how awful would that look to lose him) or hope Jesus comes down and makes everything ok.

It would look worse for Ayo to decommit with all the stuff he talked about last week after his commitment. I don't think Illinois is picking one or the other, they're trying to get both and if Ayo leaves it's basically on him. You can't let a recruit dictate who you go after, especially if it's not a top 5 pick in the NBA type guy.

 

There's still some time to make things okay. We'll see. THT still might not even commit to Illinois

How you can look at this team and not see progress over last year is beyond me. The Bears have no weapons on the outside. They got hurt. It sucks, but it is what it is. They're starting a rookie QB. They've had the lead the last two weeks so there was no reason for them to go air the ball out and risk turnovers when they didn't need to.They have already equaled their wins from last year where most people had the Bears penciled in at 0-7 or 1-6.

It's a fair point, but as other teams get more film on Trubusky, it's going to be more and more difficult for the Bears offense to do anything whatsoever. Sure, your earlier point is accurate - if they run the ball effectively and play well defensively, they'll be in most games, but I don't think their defense is dominant enough to win many.

They don't have a ton of talent on offense, especially on the outside, but I'd be pretty surprised if the Bears didn't win 7 or 8 games at this point.

The Bears don't have an NFL offense. If you can't see that, I am not sure what to say here.

The team without the NFL offense is 2-1 since they put a QB in there that doesn't turn the ball over multiple times per game. You don't have to say anything. I'll continue to enjoy their wins.

Bad would be an improvement over what the offense looked like today. It was so bad that words cannot describe it. A Jonathan Quinn or Moses Moreno lead offense would have been a massive improvement on today's dumpster fire. Quite frankly this is the worst offensive performance I have ever seen by the Bears. That says a lot.

I'll take this offensive performance any day of the week over the Bucs performance and the Packers performance where the offense pretty much lost the Bears the game in the first quarter.

Panthers offense: 293 Yds Bears offense 153, 70 of which came on one play. Whose defense dominated whom? Gee I wonder? Panthers played sloppy, Bears played putrid. Panthers turned the ball over, which resulted in scores without the offense taking the field. If Jackson steps out of bounds on both of those plays, I doubt that the Bears score more than 3 points. The Bears in no way shape or form should be holding their heads up high after this win. If I were the coach, I'd tell them that they didn't actually win today, it was a dream and they actually got shut out.

Bears defense 14 points, Panthers offense 3 points. Bears offense 3 points, Panthers defense 0 points.... I'll say the Bears defense dominated. You can keep your empty yards. That game was over in the second quarter. The Bears offense might have looked bad, but they didn't need to look good. They just had to not turn the ball over, which is what they did.

They're not wrong. Ron Rivera bungled this game away for the Panthers. There is no way in hell the Bears should have won this game. They won more because of the incompetence of the Panthers more than anything else.

Saying a team shouldn't have won a game when they led for nearly all 4 quarters, including them being up two scores for nearly 3 of the quarters, seems pretty dumb to me. They likely call plays a bit differently if they are down there. They just didn't need to.

 

The Bears defense absolutely dominated Carolina.

Losing Fowler and then (believe it or not) having Schwarber in some of their lineups really hurt. They had an all time great defensive season last year. Those two changes are a huge difference.

As much as I was hoping Taylor hit a grand slam, just as satisfying would have been a 3-run triple because Happ screwed up a flyball that Heyward would have caught.

It's been a rough recruiting season for the staff, if they get Ayo a lot of the of pain goes away but at this point I don't think the confidence the insiders have on this one is as solid as once thought. I think Ayo wants to be the man but not the only guy in the class.

And thankfully they only lose one guy from this year's roster
