  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 10:21 AM) Not one of your better posts. I guess I didn't make the soxtalk all-star team for posts. Should have just taken the 4 days off.
  2. Do I cheer for an out or a hit? I hate Jeter and I don't want him to be MVP, but, I want the AL to win. I'm going to cheer for the out and then hope Crede and CQ will take care of business and win this game for the AL.
  3. Cubs/Red Sox/ Yankees now 1-12 with 5 Ks and a GIDP.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 10:43 AM) Cubs/Yankees/Red Sox hitters are something like 1-9. 1-10 with 3 Ks and a GIDP.
  5. I'd love o see Manny go yard now.
  6. Hopefully CQ comes out in Left for the next few innings.
  7. With that hit and stolen base I think Jeter pretty much assured himself the ASG MVP.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 09:49 AM) Heads and I agree that he will hit 2 grand slams each off of Zambrano and Dempster. I like where your head is at.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 09:32 AM) Remember how ESPN got on us in 03 when we boo'd Prior and Wood at the All Star Game? Can't wait to hear them rip Yankee fans for booing Red Sox players. It was because it was that douche Chris Berman. I hate ESPN. How many HRs does CQ hit tonight? Take Manny out after the 1st and leave CQ in for the remainder of the game.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 04:18 AM) He was actually a Frick award finalist like a year or two ago and I think he'll get that eventually. Like him or not, he's been an institution on the south side for decades now. Don't get me wrong, I love Hawk. I just don't think he'll go into the Hall as an announcer. Especially if he keeps becoming more and more senile with each passing year. But maybe I'm wrong, and that'd be cool if he did get inducted.
  11. Maybe Hawk will get in as a broadcaster.
  12. I didn't mention Thome because I doubt he'll go into the Hall with a Sox hat on. He may ask to go in with the Sox, but the Hall now has the final say. And they usually go with where the player played during their peak. I bet Jim will go in as an Indian, despite the fact that he is still getting booed there.
  13. So I'm sitting here thinking about how boring this week in sports usually is. And I am trying to busy myself, and I started thinking, who on the Sox past or present has an outside shot at making it to the Hall of Fame? Obviously Frank will make it, but after that, I couldn't think of anyone. Then I started thinking about Buehrle. He would have to be the closest person right now, right? He has some pretty good numbers. He's been the staff ace for the better part of a decade. His career ERA isn't awful. He has a world series ring, along with a victory and a save in the series as well. He's been to several all-star games and has an ASG victory. He's only 29 and with the way he pitches he could pitch for a while longer. I worry about his velocity, but if he can keep that under control, he's got a few years left in him. He's never won a Cy Young, but he's been close, right? Like in the top 5? I'm just bored and throwing this out there. I just want to see what Soxtalk has to say about this. One thing is for sure, I think he definitely deserves a spot on that outfield wall when he retires, and hell, a statue somewhere in the park too.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 09:44 AM) To all of you who wanted Vazzy out of the game. OK tell me, what inning would you have pulled him? He's a veteran and he sucked. But veteran starters in the big leagues go six no matter what. I wanted him to spare the pen, but that doesn't mean I can't be extremely pissed off that he came out yet again and looked like a huge b**** on the mound. I am sick of our so called ace and his near 5 ERA. Get it together.
