I already voted twice for JD and Carlos Lee. If MLB.com wasn't so slow, I would of done more. It kept on messing up the verification images.

Anybody know when they'll announce the guys in the HR Derby. Call it what you want, but it's still fun to watch 420 foot HR after 420 foot HR.

Hamilton says if he's asked, he'll do it.

Here's my dream scenario:

AL

Morneau

Hamilton

Kinsler

Manny

Sizemore

NL

McClouth

Tejada

Utley

Uggla

Aramis

When do they announce the injury replacements? They already know Ortiz won't play, so why not just name his roster replacement now? (Hint, hint, JD, hint, hint.)

Good idea. Then they could add AJ to the final vote ballot.

Too bad he'd never win now.

They'll pick JD or Giambi to replace Ortiz.

Giambi should never be considered for any type of award or recognition like an All Star appearance, IMO.

You'd like to think so, but he's doing very well this year and the game's in New York.

I understand he is having a good year, but he is a guy who has admitted under oath to using steroids extensively and continues to get a free pass by the media while they worship his porn stache.

All I'll say is that it's a crying shame that Varitek is in the game seeing as how there are like 12 other better candidates.

This just goes to show that the Fan Vote, while nice, shouldn't be the deciding factor for starters. Personally, I think it should be:

Fans continue to vote for the last player

GMs choose starters

Managers and coaches choose bench.

But it will never happen so.......

Dumpster picked over Hamels. Moves like that ensure the NL will lose a 12th straight All Star game.

Chase Utley, Dan Uggla, Lance Berkman, Josh Hamilton, and Grady Sizemore, all confirmed participants in Home Run Derby.

Vlad is also going to be in the home run derby despite not being an all star.

im watching the Red Sox/Twins game on ESPN right now, and they were discussing Varitek in the all-star game when Steve Phillips spits out this gem:

".....and AJ Pierzynski's offensive numbers support that he should be in the all-star game, but the all-star game isnt all about offensive numbers. the Catcher position is different than any other position, and I think people recognize how well Varitek handles Matsuzaka and this young Red Sox pitching staff."

Are you f***ing kidding me? Does Phillips even watch the game? is he aware of how good the White Sox pitching staff is, and how young it is, and how well Pierzynski handles it?

Every time i think Phillips cant top himself with something stupid coming out of his mouth, he does.

Ah, good ol' fashioned Red Sox slurping on ESPN...can't beat it.

Steve Phillips lost all his credibility a few years ago when he decided to start picking the Reds. 2nd best pitching staff in baseball and we don't have one pitcher or our catcher.

Anyone who makes a case for Varitek over AJ is a butthead.

The Phillies have 4 guys that will stay at the stadium and vote non stop for Pat Burrell until the deadline. Even after the stadium closes, they will stay and vote. Lame.

No, Steve Phillips lost all credibility sometime when he was still with the Mets, and then he was hired by ESPN and decided to open his mouth and let words come out. I really don't listen a word that man says, but he loves to hear himself talk.

Evan Longoria wins the AL Final Vote and Corey Hart wins it for the NL.

I voted for Corey along with JD.

It seemed when we got Pods and AJ voted in, those days were on a home stand where the Sox could really promote it. This year with JD, being on the road probably didn't help his case...along with his last two games.

Did someone submit this to Boers and Bernsteins "Who you crappin" yesterday? Bernstein read this in an email almost verbatim how I wrote this post.

"....Right fielder Jermaine Dye finished second in the fan voting for the final spot on the AL All-Star team. Dye was edged out by Tampa Bay Rays rookie Evan Longoria, but by how many votes? No one seemed to know. That's why a few Sox players were questioning the legitimacy of the process....."

Did I miss this? Which players?

HOME RUN DERBY LINEUP:

LANCE BERKMAN Houston

RYAN BRAUN Milwaukee

DAN UGGLA Florida

CHASE UTLEY Philadelphia

JOSH HAMILTON Texas
