  1. It's funny, basically the same reason I became a Sox fan is the reason I am quitting the White Sox.

My dad came to this country in the 70s from Poland and quickly became a big baseball fan. For obvious TV reasons, he mostly watched the Cubs. But he got sick of how they were proud of being lovable losers and they always had some BS excuse of why they could never be good enough to win. So he became a White Sox fan.

40 years later, my life has come full circle. The White Sox are that team that is proud of being the little engine that almost could. "We're not cheap. Just unlucky. Woe is us."

Think of it this way: if the Red Sox looked at Moncada and thought they couldn't develop his potential what on earth would give you any hope he even stays above water under the tutelage of the White Sox?

How do you know they thought they couldn't develop his potential?  They wanted to win now, traded for a top 5 starter, and guess what?  They won now.  Moncada's future be damned.

I don’t know, didn’t work for the nets.

This is true.  European soccer does work much differently than the American system as far as acquiring talent.

As a side note, this led me to this hilarious Wikipedia tidbit about the Nets owner. 😆

    Personal life[edit]

Prokhorov has never been married and is acknowledged as one of the world's most eligible bachelors.[by whom?] Shortly after purchasing the Nets, he vowed to get married if the Nets had not won the NBA championship within five years. In July 2015, he rescinded the pledge, saying that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver had "taken his place" by marrying his fiancée in May.[61]

We haven’t combed through the list of High Liquidity Middle Eastern and Asian billionaires quite yet...not every single one of them can buy a football club.

I just read a whole book about the last 25 years of the Premier League business wide and all the new owners.  That's my last hope for the White Sox.  A Russian oil tycoon, a shiek from the Middle East, somebody with a net worth in the 10 figures that just wants a play team in the States.

Machado and Harper signed for $300m and $330m respectively, with one opt-out combined between them. Neither AAV sets a record.

And the White Sox didn’t get either of them.

The White Sox have a total of $15m committed to next year’s payroll.

But they won't have any albatrosses on their payroll during Jerry's age 90-93 years.

I'm a late 40's white guy from the southwest suburbs and I voted for Lightfoot.

I thought her and Vallas were only two  candidates worth a damn.

In the suburbs but still voted.  That's Chicago politics at it's heart!!!   😉

    It's jerry reinsdorf's birthday today

Wonder what sox fans would like to say to jerry on his 83rd birthday

I hope you buy yourself some nice $30 million gifts on your 92nd and 93rd birthdays, since those were more important than realistically trying to sign Machado and improving this baseball team you claim to care about so much.

Back to back big losses for the Hawks. Team just isn't very good. Anisimov, Saad, Gustafsson, etc. are guys Stan should look to move and get assets back.

The recent stretch was fun but I think strength of schedule was a big part of it. Getting beat by better teams on the schedule again.

Piggybacking what you and Tony said, when Toews and Kane signed those monster deals, you kind of assumed if 88 was a MVP candidate and 19 was putting up a point per game, it would be enough to at least get you in the playoffs, but that's not even the case with this roster.

He's given tons to worthwhile causes. I'm sure he'll keep doing so, and that the pop stars who stood by him don't need or want the money.

He started public feuds with artists who were willing to take NFL money to perform, then 10 days later took a  cash settlement from the same league to keep his mouth shut about his battle. If you cant see the humor in that, I cant help you.

Well after talking it over, she's firm that she wants to keep it but she wants nothing to do with me and I want nothing to do with her (we borderline hate each other). She doesn't know where I live, where I work, last name, etc and she said she wants to go to court with me to give up my parental rights which I'm all for. Do you guys think this is the right approach? Should I change my number (which I'm probably going to do) so she can't track me through that just in case?

I also wanna thank a couple of posters who have PM'd me through this ordeal. You know who you are and it meant so much to me. Thanks guys.

I don't know where you stand financially, but you might want to think about consulting a lawyer that specializes in family law.  So if you do go to court you can be sure there are no surprises and everything happens the way you are expecting it to.

It might cost you some cash now, but can't put a price on piece of mind and it prevent any surprises down the line.
