  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) The Sox have the bullets if they wanted to give up at least one of Danks/Floyd to go with Poreda and Fields (and possibly one more guy). That's exactly the type of deal I was thinking would work. If the Sox are willing to give up Fields, Poreda, Floyd, and one more prospect (maybe Lance Broadway), I think Toronto would consider it. So far there have been posters on here that think thats way too much and some that say it's not near enough. I'd personally jump all over that deal to have Halladay for three years. Floyd is solid, but nowhere near the caliber of Halladay. And if it's truly about winning it all and not just making the playoffs, the Sox would have to say yes to this type of deal if the opportunity presents itself. To have Halladay, Buehrle, Vazquez, and Danks pitching in the playoffs would bring me a ton of confidence in the Sox chances.
  2. I'd have to think a deal like Fields, Poreda, Broadway, and Floyd would get the job done. And I'd personally be all over that deal. To lock up a true ace like Halladay for three years is priceless. I think a rotation of Halladay, Buehrle, Vazquez, Danks, and Contreras would be pretty tough. Contreras is the obvious weakness here, but he's going to be just impossible to get rid of.
  3. QUOTE (robin23 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) Who right not can you say has been pitching well as of late? And to top it all off, the Tigers are winning again and will now be within 4.5 games. I'm offically scared now!
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) From what I've read Clayton Richard's whole game is based around command/location of pitches since his stuff is so mediocre. This certainly isn't another Andrew Sisco. From what everybody has heard/is describing, I'm thinking he could be described as a lefthanded Jon Garland type. Not a big "stuff" guy who will strike out a bunch of hitters, but a guy who relies on the groundball, doesn't walk many, and keeps his team in the game. That seemed to work well for Jon while he was here(back to back 18 win seasons). Let's be honest, he can't be much worse than Contreras has been lately. I'm expecting good things Wednesday.
  5. If you go to www.lycos.com and look at the picture of the guy in the lower righthand corner, you'll see a picture of Jay Mariotti from his college days. Looks like he was sporting a nice orange sweater and some nice glasses back then. That just has to be Mariotti's ugly face. I'm sure he was stepping up to the mic to give some type of anti-Chicago White Sox speech. I was just going to check my email and stumbled across this picture. I figured I'd share the laugh with everyone else in this tense time for Sox fans. http://www.lycos.com/
  6. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) DAMN IT, I thought Paulie had that one. For me, the scariest part of this whole current situation is that the Tigers may be within 5.5 games at the end of tonight. I have a bad feeling that they may role past the Sox and Twins and win this division. My thought all year has been that the Tigers still scare me more than the Twins. With Verlander starting to throw better, the bullpen arms getting healthy, and their lineup starting to click, the Tigers may just be ready to take over the AL Central. I really hope I'm wrong, but that feeling is starting to creep in more and more. With that said, let's see a nice comeback win tonight!
  7. QUOTE (alexgtp @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) I have never been to the stadium club. I always sit in the outfield or the picnic tables at the bull pen sports bar!. I have a friend who is giving me stadium club tickets for the Sox Cubs series. I currently have 500 level tickets. Will i still be able to get into the Stadium Club with 500 level ticket and stadium club ticket. And most importantly can you watch the game from the stadium club or once the game starts do I have to go to the 500 level. Thanks!! You can get into the Stadium Club with 500 level tickets as long as you have your Stadium Club passes. And you can stay up there for the entire game if you so desire. There are two levels to the Stadium Club. The lower level is an actual resaurant that you have to pay for the buffet as you sit down. I believe it's around $20 per person. And the upper level is more of a laid back, bar atmosphere. They also serve food upstairs, but you don't HAVE to purchase food. For the Sox/Cubs series you better go straight to the Stadium Club right when the gates open or you'll never get a table. I'd recommend going up to the upper level of the Stadium Club for a few drinks and appetizers before the game, but then head to your seats for the actual game. Have fun and GO SOX!!!
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) Not if you use the sortable schedules. Well, Soriano was hit by a pitch tonight and it has been confirmed that it's fractured. So he's out at least six weeks. That may change some Sox vs. Cubs predictions. That's too bad. It'll just give Cubs fans an excuse when the Sox take four out of the six games.
  9. QUOTE (pale_hose @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 11:25 AM) Do you guys think we will need to add anyone to get through the rest of the season to keep this up? Who or at what position...Rumor is that Erik Bedard MIGHT be available from Seattle, but not sure if this is true...I would sell the farm for that guy... I think that would reopen the "where would he play?" debate again. Seriously though, who in this rotation deserves to be pushed to the bullpen? Danks, Contreras, and Floyd have been dominant, and Vazquez has been solid. The one person who isn't pitching well overall is Buehrle, but you won't, or should you, see Buehrle sent to the bullpen. I don't think the Sox will be after a starting pitcher, unless it's a guy who has C.C. Sabathia type stuff (how about a healthy Ben Sheets). Of course Sabathia wouldn't be an option for the Sox because Cleveland will never trade him in the division. The offense is hitting like crazy right now, but adding another bat, maybe one with speed, would be a good idea. But in my opinion, this team can win right now, as constructed.
  10. First off, I've been a long time visitor to the site, but I finally decided to sign up and become a member. I've always enjoyed reading the discussions on Soxtalk, so I figured it was time to get involved. But back to the topic at hand. On June 2nd, the Sox were ranked 22nd in the league in runs scored and had just a half game lead over the Minnesota Twins. Now, just seven days later, the Sox have jumped up to 10th in the league in runs scored and now hold a 5.5 game lead(maybe 6.5 in a couple of hours). For me this illustrates how explosive this offense can be when a majority of the lineup gets it together. That's the kind of offense that I've been waiting to see from this team all season long. Let's hope the bats stay hot for an extended period of time now!
