We've been able to get Odor out with guys on base, but not anyone else apparently.

We basically got a free run and gave it away.

Ventura will earn his extension the next 43 games
QUOTE (bmags @ May 11, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) It's funny because ahead of a series, we all say "this will be a togh series, I'll be happy with 1-2". And then the two losses happen and immediately its OMG ITS OVER WEREDEAAAAD Had yesterday's game been closer and not a 5 run lead in the 8th inning, the loss wouldn't have stung as much. It's fine to look at games in a retrospective way, but when you're up 5 in the 8th inning and about to win another series, having it slip away because the manager wasn't prepared is maddening. Yeah I would have been okay with winning 1 of 3 in Arlington, but not when we've already won the first one and were 6 outs away from winning the second one.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) And I'm still trying to figure out what Austin Jackson did that was so egregious. It wasn't like Sands' play the night before. It might have been a slight misread and it almost felt like he wasn't tracking it....that it either carried a lot better than he expected to the deepest part of the park OR he drifted too much with it instead of sprinting across like that amazing basket catch over the weekend where he had a 96% route accuracy and was going at almost 20 MPH. Watching it on video a bunch of times, it just feels like he wasn't quite running all out and misjudged it a hair, but, once again, that ball was crushed by Desmond and certainly not close to an error. It's probably one that he catches 7 or 8 times out of 10, though. He had time to keep running for that ball. I think he misjudged it a little bit.

The sooner we get an automated strike zone, the better
QUOTE (Tex @ May 11, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) Based on the really small number of calls that are even questioned, including very close plays, I would say it proves the umps are very good. If one in a few hundred gets questioned, that's very good even if it gets overruled. When they are talking an inch off the plate I wonder how far off the plate the graphic shows. We are being fed an enhanced view for entertainment. I wonder how exact they are actually able to detect. Even if umpires are right 95% of the time on pitch calls, do you realize how many missed calls that is? Over the course of one game, that's at least 10 missed calls. Over the course of one night with a full slate of games, that's 150 missed calls. Over the course of a whole season, that's ~24,000 missed calls.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:58 PM) Just like last night, the bullpen implosion wouldn't have been bad if the defense just made a play that was tough but should be made most of the time. Also I really hate Ian Desmond. Frazier almost had Holaday's double. Jackson probably should have caught Desmond's fly ball. Ugh.

Bullpen and Albers especially were due for regression. Unfortunately it happened in the span of one f***ing inning.

Albers got rushed. Robin wasn't ready for the s*** storm that Caroll stirred up. That's on him.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:44 PM) He had Duke and Putnam up right away. Carroll makes those guys look like Pedro. Duke should have been in for Mazara.

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:41 PM) No way this won't be the worst loss of the year. Seriously? We had a 5 run lead with 6 outs to go. No excuses.

You can blame Albers for not pitching well. But it was clear they were not ready to even pitch before the damn inning. The team had almost mailed this one in thinking they had it. That's on the coaching staff.

If Putnam was available, then why the hell were we throwing Carroll? Damn it Robin.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:12 PM) you can request a review and 90% of the time they will review it. Seems like you might as well get unlimited challenges then. Rangers are one of the teams that review almost everything and it's extremely annoying.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:09 PM) Challenging plays in the 8th inning of a 5 run game is an abuse of the system. I thought teams don't get challenges after the 7th... Umpires must have thought it was close enough to review.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:09 PM) That last angle you can see foot was off at some point. Tough to overturn Eh I think it's pretty obvious that he had the ball and the foot on. They got the call right.
