He can't touch that change up and he's gotta deal with cutters half a foot inside being called strikes.

We've had chances every inning. Just can't get the hit we need.

They really didn't wanna throw Grandal a fastball.

Tim looks like he got shaken up a little. I'm scared everytime our guys run hard now.

I swear Naylor and Hedges only do well against us and absolutely nothing against anyone else.

He sucks vs. left handed hitters this year cause his cutter hasn't been that good. He absolutely hung the cutter to Meadows and he almost hit it out.

No TJS planned for now. Huge blow for the Rays.

"sticky substances"
I noticed the side of his pants were still dirty yesterday from where he likes to rub his hand on. I think he just didn't have his good stuff last night.

The Sox are 2nd in baseball in average 4-seam fastball spin rate, behind only the Dodgers (although the gap there is pretty wide). We are somewhere in the middle for breaking pitches. I really hope that our guys have been mostly clean this whole time, but you never know. It's pretty obvious Lynn and Hendriks have been using something this whole time, although neither of their spin rates are ridiculously high. You just hope that this crackdown doesn't negatively affect our dominant pitching.

Starters will get periodic checks every game either between innings or after he comes out. Every relief pitcher will be checked after they come out of the game. So it looks like they're going to try to enforce it pretty hard. Manfred basically created this problem when they decided to make adjustments to the ball this off-season. Very few people had a problem with high spin rates before 2021 because home runs were through the roof. Now they're punishing pitchers because they deadened the ball.

They were already dead to begin with. Although Karinchak may be in complete shambles. He's literally gonna be Wild Thing from Major League before he got his glasses.

"sticky substances"
Reading everything from Passan and Heyman, they're not gonna allow any foreign substances aside from rosin. All pitchers will be checked after they come out of the game or in between innings. Of course it's gonna depend on if the umpires want to enforce it. For a team that relies on pitching as much as we do, I don't think this is gonna end up being a good thing.

It is, but I'm referencing the spin rates in the picture. His 4 seam fastball spin rate went down more than his cutter and sinker. Usually when people say fastball they mean a 4 seamer.

The Indians are gonna need to pull starting pitchers out of their ass. No Bieber or Plesac for the next few weeks at least.

Indians are about to win by 1 and they got 2 runs cause DJ Stewart tripped on a routine fly ball with 2 RISP.

How did that ball get away?

He's tried to. It didn't work and it just kinda made it worse.

Aced him.

Tim should just stay on the bag next time. Your run means nothing if we don't score another, why are you even bothering trying to steal 2nd?

Rays @ Sox, 6/14 7:10 ct
Come on Tim...you can't get picked off there.

Rays @ Sox, 6/14 7:10 ct
What? What does that have to do with the 3 batter minimum rule then?

He could have pulled Crochet if he wanted to since he had already faced 3 hitters.

Tonight is probably the best Crochet's slider has looked all year. It's too bad he couldn't get a backfoot slider close enough to Arozarena.
