  1. I love this time of the year. I don't get another feeling like this till pitchers and catchers report.
  2. We have a surplus of 3b options in-house. There's no need to go outside the organization for a nostalgia trip with a crippled back.
  3. That's a sexy haul for the Jays. Seems like a decent move for both sides.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Just read 7/$161 over at SOSH. But that's according to a "source." This seemed like the logical compromise to the 6 or 8 years debate.
  5. The Nats are coming to play next year. I guess having a kid like Strasburg will do that to you.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) The infatuation with Homer Bailey around here is a tad bit ridiculous. He's in the John Danks/Gavin Floyd mold, but with a slightly higher ceiling and insane stuff. I don't see what's not to like.
  7. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) Quentin and Viciedo for BJ Upton I adore this trade. Our OF defense would be insane and Upton's skillset would make him a weapon at the Cell.
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) Is there a darkhorse on Cliff Lee? Try these five teams! http://bit.ly/gtFOCa #Angels #Phillies #Reds #Tigers #WhiteSox #MLB - Ken Rosenthal Kenny seemed really tickled at the idea of getting Roy Halladay to fill out the rotation last year. It wouldn't suprise me if he went all in to get another big-time arm.
  9. As KW once (kinda) said, "This puts the Red Sox in a better position to compete with us. " . IF we fill out our pen, i expect some epic playoff battles for the next couple of years.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Ok, that's crazy. The Reds were operating from a position of strength too. That's just a ridiculious deal.
  11. Adam Dunn is killing it with Boers and Bernstein. He's a very genuine guy.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 01:49 PM) People's sarcasm detectors need to be fixed today. Sorry, i'm elated at the direction of this team to the point where a lot of this stuff is flying past me.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) By the way...everyone is writing down that they're not allowed to complain when Linebrink has a legitimate solid season in the NL, right? We call this the Javy-Policy.
  14. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) I would normally jump on, but I'm going to wait and see if Kenny can trade Teahen straight-up for Bell and sign Putz for about $600K before I look at DJ. I assume you mean Viciedo. Teahen for Bell has about as real a chance as me making my major league debut this year.
  15. I wonder what kind of effect this could have on Gavin. I remember hearing that they were close to the point where Gavin looked to Linebrink as almost a spiritual mentor.
  16. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) So no impact? Exactly. Coefield could kick me in the nuts this spring and i'll still be happy that we freed up Linebrink's money.
  17. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 01:31 PM) Marquez had an impact? Neither of those two did. They're Coefield-esque filler for two other salary dumps.
  18. I imagine Kyle Coefield could have a Jon Link/Jeff Marquez- like impact on this team. And i love it.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) .231/.411/.478/.890 for his career No I was not aware of something that is not true The minute Adam Dunn steps up to the plate, he's in a scoring position. That's all that matters.
  20. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) Kenny you are my f***ing HERO!!! Please let Teahen be next oh pretty pretty please!!! I actually think Teahen could have a Mark Derosa-esque effect off the bench for this team.
  21. This is aces if it's Linebrink. That's a crafty bit of salary dumping.
  22. It's about time that we start acting like a big market team.
  23. At the moment our bench looks to be Vizquel, Teahen, Castro, and Lillibridge, and likely Dayan Viciedo. We' might have to go out and get someone who can spell Alex in CF, because i don't know how comfortable i am with Lillbridge being thrown out there. It's actually an oddly versatile bench, but it' sucess relies on Viciedo taking a step forward and Teahen assuming career norm production.
  24. I suspect he’ll get into the Hall of Fame now and it will be an incredibly hollow tribute. This man prostituted himself for the award year in and out, whether he was truly deserving or not, and had it denied of him. He was a bit wacky, but he was a warrior on the field and off. Rest In.Peace, Ron,
