I love gamethreads, some of my best friends are gamethreads.

Ozzie Guillen's Approval Rating
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 01:49 PM) Nix is supposed to be above average at 2B (but didn't look it last year), and is bad at SS and 3B. Nix and Vizquel are not in the same universe defensively. Nix was damn impressive at 2b, and the numbers back that up. He wasn't bad at 3b either. Look, i recognize that Vizquel is the better defender of the two, and that Nix is a flawed player, but there's no need for you to continue disparaging attributes that are actually his strengths.

Say hey, It's Kotsay
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) Ozzie can't be this f***in stupid, can he? I’m going to treat that as rhetorical. I love Ozzie to death, but he’s incredibly impulsive. Too many of these impulses are hurting this team.

ST: vs Padres
This is one of the more absurd batting lineups i've ever seen.

Say hey, It's Kotsay
This is getting underplayed here but Ozzie also wants to LEADOFF Vizquel against LHP's. IF this is true our offense is going to be much worse then we thought, and hell, i already don't think very much of it.

Say hey, It's Kotsay
I'm trying something new and have promised not too get to worked up over the stupid s*** Ozzie does year-to-year. It's not worth b****ing about something that's clearly a terrible idea that we can do nothing to prevent. This'll pass soon enough, we'll lose a couple games in between, and then we'll go back to hitting Q 3rd, and wishing like hell we had signed Thome for Kotsay's contract.

Say hey, It's Kotsay
If this fails, we try another guy there. I don't like the idea of him hitting that high, but if it doesn't work we can just move on with a lesson learned.

ST: vs DBacks--3PM/CSN
Nice to see some encouraging signs from Teahen.

2010 Chicago White Sox Spring Training
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) Thankfully he can stick more to pinchitting this year as Omar will be the primary defensive replacement. As long as Vizquel plays over him at SS, Nix should have some good value for the team this year. I hope he's a staple in the sunday lineup.

Mediocre blogger calls for Ozzie
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 11:39 PM) How about a title edit? I Love it. The truth hurts. I think it's hilarious that the thread about this at Baseball Think Factory started with a guy saying that Hineybird could eat a dick, and then devlolved into a book club discussion. That's how little people care about what the man has to say.

Mediocre blogger calls for Ozzie
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) Nothing personal to the poster who created this thread, but... I was this/close to deleting this thread just to not have this joke show up on our site again.\ Almost did it. Nah, go ahead. He pisses me off too. Figured i'd give the Sox Talk world one more glimpse of this worthless P.O.S, and then we call all move on. So, by all means shut this mother down.

2010 Chicago White Sox Spring Training
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) No surprise. I still think there may be a trade. I wouldn't mind seeing if Nix could get another lefty arm. Randy Williams is having a good spring, but i'd like to upgrade if the chance is there.

Mediocre blogger calls for Ozzie
In the surprise of the century Jay Mariotti calls once again for the head of Ozzie Guillen. http://jay-mariotti.fanhouse.com/2010/03/2...o-fire-guillen/ A Selection from this gem: "CHICAGO -- The Blizzard of Oz, as I've come to call Ozzie Guillen, should have been put out of his misery years ago, dumped like an out-of-control radio caller unfit for human consumption. He is not a breath of fresh air as much as an affront to the American intellect -- a disgrace to baseball, the city of Chicago and a loose-cannon organization called the White Sox." Once again, Mariotti arrives days late to the party, to deliver an inflated reaction to something that's not a big deal. He should have been silenced a long time ago. Luckily, no one gives a damn about AOL fanhouse.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) It wasn't sharp, it was solid. I'd like to retract my previous statement. Solid, not sharp.

Teahen's struggles...
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 06:02 PM) I don't believe this for a millisecond. Agreed, I'd pin it around late 1996-98. You can tell just by looking at pictures of the guy.

ST: vs Giants
Teahen with a sharp single to CF.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) "A homerun here would change the complexity of the ballgame" - Bill Melton That's like me saying that, "A girlfriend would change the complexity of my lovelife." No, duh.

Teahen's struggles...
QUOTE (qwerty @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) The giambi comparison was an unfair and unrealistic (yes, at the time even) one to live up to for teahan... especially at the time. Giambi was nothing short of ridiculous for a 3-4 year stretch, his last .1000 ops+ year was in 2002, the year teahan was drafted. Nothing shocks me anymore with the athletics. Mainly they are all about the hype, and having people buy into the unwarranted hype. Now don't get me wrong they produce major league talent, but rarely, if ever (past decade), do they end up panning out to the level that they were supposed to reach. The athletics organization aggravates me to no end, and it does not help that wite would suck off billy beane if given the chance. I think the Giambi comparison was unfair because it failed to factor in the part that the addition of steroids played in Giambi's development. According to his testimony Giambi started taking roids around 2000-2001. Prior to this time period, he averaged around 26 homeruns and 74 RBI's. This is notable becasue this statline seems well within Teahen's reach. I think Mark Teahen really could be the the kind of player Jason Giambi was, he has a similiar build, and similiar numbers, the important factor here is that it's Jason Giambi before the roids.

ST: vs Giants
It's a bit scary that we're getting great production from Jones and Kotsay this spring, and our offense still looks awful. I'm not giving up yet though, it is only spring training.

My hopes for the White Sox's reality show
QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) AJ as Dwight. Beckham as Ryan. I think the most important question would be who would be Creed? I think Joey Cora is just creepy enough...

ST: vs Giants
De Aza nails Renteria trying to stretch a single to a double.

ST: vs Giants
Floyd K's Bowker on a high-tailing fastball. K's Shierholtz (however the hell you spell that on) a low breaking ball.

Teahen's struggles...
QUOTE (11and1 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Getz performs is not relevant-- unless we are playing the Royals. It's entirely relevant. Your premise was that we overpaid for Mark Teahen, whom you called a mediocre talent. Well, we paid Chris Getz and Josh Fields. One of whom (Getz) is the very definition of mediocre talent, and the other guy is burdened by an overwhelming inability to hit a fastball.
