UZR
I know it is a somewhat small sample size but still almost 50 games in please someone explain this to me... Per fangraphs some White Sox players UZRs(UZR/150 were all just as bad): Alex Rios 1.3 De Aza 0.8 25th and 27th ranked OF, while with a UZR of 5.9 Alfonso Soriano is 3rd overall!! Alexei Ramirez -0.8 16th SS Gordon Beckham -3.3 23rd 2B Brent Morel -0.6 14th 3B WTF?

Zambrano worth the risk?
What about a trade for Zambrano where the cubs would take on Linebrink+Teahan and a decent prospect or two and cover around half of his salary. He could be send into the bullpen for the year and figure out the rest next year. Am I crazyy?

White Sox acquire Juan Pierre
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) For instance last year i was under the impression we acquired Rios to play CF but he'd play in RF with Pods in CF. That was to keep Q in LF until the season was over

White Sox acquire Juan Pierre
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) I'm talking about all the times we've seen Pods in CF, Mackowiak in CF, Wise in CF, etc. Who else was on the team at those times who would have been a better option?

White Sox acquire Juan Pierre
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:12 AM) He's a slight improvement over Pods for more money. The base running intelligence alone makes this better then pods. Plus he wears high socks to replace carrasco

Sox interested in Yanks' Brett Gardner
Maybe instead of Betemit then? From the article it seems Kenny has had his eye on him for a while now since seeing him in the AFL

Sox interested in Yanks' Brett Gardner
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) Um, duh. The only problem with that is the Yankees wouldn't have done that deal, so it is a moot point. Did they really think that highly of him I always thought of him as a backup in their eyes... guess as time has pasted ive forgotten how little value Swisher had when we sent him packing

Sox interested in Yanks' Brett Gardner
Wouldn't Brett Gardner have been a much better piece in the Swisher trade instead of superstar Jeff Marquez?

What about a Juan Pierre for Linebrink swap?
QUOTE (balfanman @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) Personally I think that Pierre gets a bad rap. I don't think that, other than his arm, he is that bad a ballplayer. Sure his contract isn't good, but how many players in MLB with more than 6 - 7 years of experience have "good" contracts. Ozzie seems to like him so maybe he does possess some type of intangible that may help a winning team. Pierre has been on what, for the most part, has been winning ballclubs in L.A. and while being primarily a bench player I haven't heard anything about him being disruptive. I'm sure that Ozzie has requested some type of a typical lead off hitter and for what is actually available I think that you could do a lot worse. For those in the know, Pierre can still cover ground in the outfield can't he? If the Dodgers are in the financiakl bind that people are claiming and don't want to give cash in a Pierre - Linebrink swap, maybe K.W. can get them to part with a good prospect or 2. JMHO. Not exactly sure how to interpret this but according to fangraphs his UZR/150 was 10.5 for OF but -19.4 in CF, to have that rating wouldn't he have to be pretty good in LF to cancel out CF??? Also while he makes 10M this year his salary drops to 8.5M in '11 making him an easier piece to move if he doesn't work out.

What about a Juan Pierre for Linebrink swap?
QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 6, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) Opps... he is fast though...Who would you take two Jermaine Dyes in RF/CF or one Juan Pierre doing both
-
What about a Juan Pierre for Linebrink swap?
Juan Pierre owed 18.5M over the next two years, Linebrink 10.5M so we would have to take on 8M over the next two years which doesn't seem unreasonable since it would fill the hole in the OF and at leadoff. Probably have to throw in a prospect or two, I was thinking Torres or another AAAA starter since they seem to want pitching. http://twitter.com/stevehenson333/status/6416431930

Official: Omar Vizquel Signs with Sox
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) With Ramirez at SS and Beckham at 2B, where do you envision Nix and Getz fitting in long-term? My guess would be sending Nix down to AAA to work the Ks and with Getz I envision him wearing a Royals uni next year....

What's next ?
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 11:41 PM) None of that makes any sense. The Cubs would be dumb to trade for a closer considering how good Marmol is, and it would be ridiculous of them to trade Marmol along with Bradley to get Jenks unless they are that dead set on getting rid of Bradley and cannot find any suitors whatsoever. Further, moving Thornton to closer and having Marmol takes out the one legitimate left handed arm the Sox have in the middle of the bullpen. Thornton has the capability of closing, and I have no doubt about that, but much of his value comes from the fact that he throws with his left hand and that players hitting from the same side of the plate have a ton of trouble getting to him. Being able to use Thornton in the 7th, 8th, or 9th helps aid his value astronomically, and Marmol would be the closer by default. I would say that this is not possible. 4 blown saves in 19 opportunities as opposed to 27 holds I think shows hes much better suited for a set up man role and lefties last year hit .136 against him

What's next ?
QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) I read on espn about a trade possibilty Jenks to cubs for bradley with the cubs eating part of bradley's contract . The only way this trade makes sense is if cubs include Marmol... which probably means we eat all of Bradley's deal... but then you move Thorton to the closer and Marmol takes his place as a go to guy in the pen(being a headcase a role much better suited for him) Possible?
