  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 07:42 AM)
    You guys putting them in the playoffs already really need to slow down. They're hot right now but they aren't this good. They're going to hit a major slump again just to even this stretch out.

    Playoffs or not, they're a good up and coming team. They're not 19 games over .500 due to luck.

  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 06:52 PM)
    If Rodon is on the table, the Cubs take him over Schwarber.

    And I'll take the potential of an ace lefty over a DH, no matter how good.

    Maybe, maybe not. They took Bryant over Gray in 2013 when Appel/Gray were the consensus top 2 picks. The FO and scouting department over there has done quite a nice job the past few years.

  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 10:03 PM)
    Not the moves that should be made, like dumping Kenny and his sidekick Ricky

    The problem is I think if Hahn had his way, he'd go young and rebuild like so many other teams have done the past few years (Astros, Cubs, Twins) but the Sox have always had a mindset under KW (and perhaps by orders of JR) to never go that route. The Sox will always try to put the most competitive team on the field which is good however when you get to the point where they are now and you're dishing out contracts to 35 and 36 year old players and the result is always the same, it's time to try something new.

  4. I like Hahn and I think he knows what has to be done but the question is will the Sox let him do it. The Sox have always been very stubborn when it comes to the "R" word but what they've been doing is clearly not working. I said it this past week but this team needs to follow the Northsiders' lead and do a full scale rebuild. It won't be pretty but if you look at the Cubs now they're a team on the rise with bright future and money to spend. If the Sox start this asap they can maybe be competitive again before Sale hits Free Agency in 2020. They have some nice young arms to build around in Sale, Q, Rodon and Fulmer but they have nothing aside from Abreu as far as position players go and that needs to change.

  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 24, 2015 -> 02:14 PM)
    I disagree, I would guess they trade him and then try to sign him in the offseason if they want him back.

    I agree, the Cubs traded him last year for a guy who is their starting 2B right now. No reason why the Sox can't do the same thing, plus he'll be in high demand because he's a UFA at year's end. Sox can get a nice haul for him.

  6. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 24, 2015 -> 10:15 AM)
    I agree that we don't know what he will do, however I wouldn't be as unconcerned as you would be, if indeed he is terrible for the rest of this year, and

    next year. I've practically given up on this year, but it will be very disappointing if they can't right this ship next season, with our good young, reasonably

    signed players. Next year is the beginning of what I perceive is our realistic window to compete.

    I haven't given up on this year because they don't have a chance. They aren't that far out of it, but they just don't seem to have all of the pieces, and La Roche

    is one of the problems, if he can't adequately fill the hole, which he was signed to fill. They fixed several problems in this last off season, but they need to fix a few more for next.

    I haven't given up either on this year but the Sox are one more bad stretch from being double digits out of 1st place. Not too many teams recover from that.

  7. The Sox can fire Ventura and it be completely justified. That being said, is there a real chance that this team just isn't really that good? Many teams have looked great on paper before and then have failed to live up to expectations, this might be what the Sox truly are. Aside from Abreu, is there really anyone in this line up who scares opposing pitchers? Honestly I don't think so.

    Long story short, I'm not sure a manager change will get this team going. I won't blame them if they try it but overall this team might just not be any damn good.

  8. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 11:29 PM)
    Harold Reynolds is blaming Adam Eaton.

    What exactly did Eaton do? Unless he did something earlier in the game I don't see it. Completely uncalled for by Ventura. Yost is a d-bag too.
