To be fair to Shark the last two teams he faced were the best team in the AL and the hottest team in the NL. Not like he got rocked by Boston and Colorado.

Maybe, maybe not. They took Bryant over Gray in 2013 when Appel/Gray were the consensus top 2 picks. The FO and scouting department over there has done quite a nice job the past few years.

Samardzija turned down 5/$85 mil from the Cubs last year. He wants to test free agency and he wants a $100 mil plus contract. He will wait until the market is set by Price and Cueto and then after that most likely go to the highest bidder.

The Cubs arrow is definitely pointing up, however they may have struck gold with Joe Maddon. He's just seems like the type of guy you want managing your ball club.

The problem is I think if Hahn had his way, he'd go young and rebuild like so many other teams have done the past few years (Astros, Cubs, Twins) but the Sox have always had a mindset under KW (and perhaps by orders of JR) to never go that route. The Sox will always try to put the most competitive team on the field which is good however when you get to the point where they are now and you're dishing out contracts to 35 and 36 year old players and the result is always the same, it's time to try something new.

I think we'll see some moves from the Sox by July 31st. You'd have to think Samardzija will be dealt, maybe Alexi too.

I agree with those who say to trade Samardzija. Hopefully Hahn deals him soon and gets some good position player prospects back.

I like Hahn and I think he knows what has to be done but the question is will the Sox let him do it. The Sox have always been very stubborn when it comes to the "R" word but what they've been doing is clearly not working. I said it this past week but this team needs to follow the Northsiders' lead and do a full scale rebuild. It won't be pretty but if you look at the Cubs now they're a team on the rise with bright future and money to spend. If the Sox start this asap they can maybe be competitive again before Sale hits Free Agency in 2020. They have some nice young arms to build around in Sale, Q, Rodon and Fulmer but they have nothing aside from Abreu as far as position players go and that needs to change.

I keep hearing the Sox can't do the full scale rebuild like the Cubs but at this point, I'm all for it. This team isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I agree, the Cubs traded him last year for a guy who is their starting 2B right now. No reason why the Sox can't do the same thing, plus he'll be in high demand because he's a UFA at year's end. Sox can get a nice haul for him.

I haven't given up on this year because they don't have a chance. They aren't that far out of it, but they just don't seem to have all of the pieces, and La Roche
is one of the problems, if he can't adequately fill the hole, which he was signed to fill. They fixed several problems in this last off season, but they need to fix a few more for next.
I haven't given up either on this year but the Sox are one more bad stretch from being double digits out of 1st place. Not too many teams recover from that.

I would still take Abreu now (present day) but Rizzo is going to be a beast in the coming years. He's only 25 I think.

The Sox can fire Ventura and it be completely justified. That being said, is there a real chance that this team just isn't really that good? Many teams have looked great on paper before and then have failed to live up to expectations, this might be what the Sox truly are. Aside from Abreu, is there really anyone in this line up who scares opposing pitchers? Honestly I don't think so.
Long story short, I'm not sure a manager change will get this team going. I won't blame them if they try it but overall this team might just not be any damn good.
