  1. The Tribe are a good club, we're going to have to accept that fact. Sucks we just went on a real good run and have cut their lead by 1 fn game. However the Cubs were 22-31 in 2007 and 9 out in early June and still managed to win the division, that being said Milwaukee pissed that division away like no other but that's a whole different story. That being said, there's still time but the Sox have got to keep on winning the majorirty of series. .500 or less won't cut it now.

  2. To be honest I didn't have great expectations for this team to start with, I thought we'd be much better than we are but there were still some question marks going into the season. 2006 was extremely disappointing because had we not had a bad stretch or two during the season, we would've definitely repeated.

  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2011 -> 09:52 PM)
    They're not....no room in the payroll and Alexei is our ss of the future at this point.

    I think it's a longshot too, however if the opportunity was there and you can get him, the Sox can move him to 2nd. He's better than Beckham will ever be and you can always try putting Beckham back at 3rd. Like I said though, this is a pipe dream.

  4. If the Sox are serious about Reyes then I don't think you trade for him this year, wait until the offseason and try to sign him. However for that to happen KW is going to have to unload 1-2 hefty contracts. I still think if Peavy comes back and pitches decently, the Yankees could be a possibility for his services. We wouldn't get much if anything back (cash or lower level prospect) but getting rid of that $33 mil over the next 2 years may be worth it.

  5. Hawk always says s*** like that to cover for Sox teams when they're playing bad. He said the same thing in 07 when everything went bad, said he couldn't remember how such a talented team (back then in 07) completely tanked. The Red Sox are more talented then we are and they played like s*** to start the season too.

  6. I think I heard Castro is the youngest player in the Majors right now, if so he has ALOT of time to get his fielding straightened out. From what I've seen of him I've been very impressed. He's not elite yet but I think he has a much higher chance of becoming elite than not becoming elite. Even as a Sox fan I have to admit that Castro is going to be very good for years to come.

    As for Reyes I'd be for that but the Mets are going to ask for alot and since the Sox don't have any blue chip minor league prospects the Sox would have to trade at least to young guys on the active roster. Something realistic would be Sale and Beckham for Reyes. The Mets have no money to spend to they'd want to be taking be cheap players that they can control for a while. Problem is other teams would have more to offer than we would unless we thew in another guy like Alexi or Danks and I can't see KW doing that.

  7. I'm in the middle. Yes we are 9 back in the loss column but I think it's safe to say Cleveland will come crashing back to earth sometime soon although they are a better team than most of us thought. That being said this is exactly what the Sox COULD NOT AFFORD to do. If they continue to start out s***ty, they're going to have to play at an amazing clip (like the 26-5 run last year which will probably not be done again) to make up the ground and win the Central. The bigger concern is that this team just flat out doesn't look like a true contender even if we got our s*** together.

  8.

    Why the hell are the Cubs platooning Colvin and Fukudome? Fukudome has 1 year left with the team and isn't part of their future, they're idiots if they don't start Colvin on a consistent basis soon.
