Jay and Alonso serve a purpose for one year with or without Machado. They don’t hurt the Whitesox in anyway shape or form moving forward. They had more value to us on the roster than not and I don’t blame managements forward thinking in acquiring them.

Would it be worth the extra 10 mil a year to legitimize your franchise again? We act like we are up towards the cap already, I would pay Bryce whatever it took to get him here. We have the cap room and it just gets bigger in the following years.....

You know what the crazy thing is the White Sox have a chance to fix their mistake and save face right here with Harper and it appears they are not going to do so. Even if they are behind the scenes trying to make something happen it is going to be looked at by fans like the front office just rolled over and gave up after so much press/confidence surrounding Machado.

I agree on the part of going to bed uneasy, if that was Hahn getting cute on his part with the contract negotiations and Jerry had agreed to go to 300 million then Hahn is an idiot and deserves to be fired, however he cannot be the one to blame if Uncle Jerry said this is the only way we can make 300 mil work for us...

This, you my friend have won the day. They have never been in negotiations like this before and came up short. Maybe next time, if there ever is a next time, they actually pay the $ required to get the player they want. At least that’s what one would hope....

I’m not necessarily blaming it on Hahn, but the shrewdness of the owner.....if you don’t handcuff your GM I have complete faith he would have landed him and Machado would be a White Sox.

That’s what I mean though, Machado was the guy they wanted and had their eye on for 2 years or so they say....if you aren’t willing to go the distance for your guy they aren’t going to be major players in many down the road when the big boys come to play in free agency

And this is exactly why I don’t see the White Sox landing a big time free agent anytime soon. Jerry hamstrings his front office so they can’t land a big named guy, always has been the case and always will....

This....if they are indeed bidding on him there is no chance they are going to be as public with things as they were with Machado, that way if they don’t land him they don’t have fans expectations up and make this even worse. With that said, I don’t think they are in it...
