Mets aren’t rebuilding?
Not like the Sox. They have hired a competent GM and have an owner willing to buy a championship. Sox have neither and a better overall roster than the Sox.

The sports reporters here sound about as excited as I am when talking about him.

If he's smart, he will sign with NYM.
More playing time for a reclamation type of player. Mets aren’t rebuilding he won’t get much rope there…

And if you’re Fedde, you 100% sign with the White Sox if the money is the same as you will get a lot longer here than in New York.
Sigh….it’s gonna be a long couple years

He was quite good in the KBO last year - won MVP and their equivalent to the Cy Young Award. But it's still the KBO...
2 years 10 mil sounds like a lot for a guy who last pitched in the KBO before leaving the MLB w almost a 6 ERA.

When healthy I like our chances with a core of Moncada, Benintendi, Robert, Eloy, Vaughn. IMO DeJong is a fine bridge to Montgomery, and I think Lopez will get lots of playing time as super-sub. Cease should / will be traded to whichever team fills two of the three remaining RF, 2nd base, and catcher positions with good but perhaps blocked players. They should be ML ready not future hope and dream type players. This assumes of course that JR was serious about competing this year. Finish the Cease trade with however many serviceable arms make the deal work. Use free agency for that position still needing improvement and a couple of arms. Personally, I feel we improved by the subtraction of Grandal, Anderson, and Bummer. The pitchers we lost were nothing to write home about either. It's not the 27' Yanks but this squad would compete for a playoff spot IMO.
How many years in a row are we going to say when healthy for Moncada and Eloy and then act shocked when they don’t stay healthy? This team even if they are healthy have zero pitching and that core last year couldn’t contend. This team must get a haul for Cease to accelerate the rebuild, but outside of that they are going nowhere fast unless they open the check book but we all know JR isn’t about to spend half a billion to fix all the issues they have.

I really wish Youtube TV still had MLBN. I liked having the Winter Meetings coverage on in the background during the work day the last couple of years.
Sign up for a free trial of like directvstream for that week and the cancel afterwards. That’s what imma do this year

Lopez is almost certainly going to be on the MLB roster. Shewmake will be in Charlotte. Remillard probably doesn’t survive the offseason on the 40 man.
Without DeJong is the 40 man full at the moment? Who gets the hook once he passes the physical?

I don’t make assumptions slugger.
Slugger? Lol…did you read the post in its entirety? Don’t know how you missed the part of things going south quickly for this organization you didn’t understand. IMO Daffy Duck and Mickey Mouse have a better shot at being in the 2024 rotation than Dylan Cease does.

Although the placeholders will most certainly stink, making the prospects earn the job over just handing it to them out of negligence/necessity is a refreshing change of pace.
It’s early on this off-season but until Cease is dealt for some almost ready mlb prospects the future is going to look grim even for their “competing” year in 2025. A bunch of one year stop gaps ain’t gonna cut it come next offseason when the only real prospects you currently have that look to make an impact soon is Montgomery and Quero.

I don’t think anyone is “all in” at the moment. Mickey mouse and daffy duck leading the pitching staff after Cease is gone won’t lead to much.
Sorry you didn’t catch the sarcasm in that message…

To think…just a couple years ago we went all in for Grandal right before thanksgiving. This year we are going all in with Paul DeJong right before thanksgiving….man how things have gone south quickly for this organization

100% Cease and Eloy are getting traded.
Boob said on the podcast he doesn’t think Eloy gets moved this off-season but if anything happens it’d be at the trade deadline because there is no market for him I guess

Nightengale gives a Cease trade a 90 pct chance of happening. Nothing close though, as he thinks Sox will get two of a teams’s top 10 prospects. He also mentioned they’re definitely lowering payroll after the attendance disaster last year.
This was from soxtalk podcast
Shocker. This just in: noone wants to see a s%*# product out on the field. It’s funny how most say the thing that generates revenue is the TV deals and advertising yet the Sox love to continuously complain about attendance numbers, yet do nothing to put a competitive team on the field.

Proof that a million dollars isn't what it used to be.
Not unless you are the Chicago White Sox and Jerry Reinsdorf. They are still looking at what a million dollars looked like back in the 1990s

I feel like adding Soroka to rotation over a gamble in free agency making ~$10M makes it feel like payroll is getting slashed even more than we expect.
Saving Jerry more money to take to the grave. Gotta love it

There are I think 5 active threads right now where this could go. As far as I can tell it is easily the most popular answer to the original post.
Cant be a rivalry if Sox fans are consistently getting shafted. In the end Jerry always wins…
