QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) Would you rather have Self, the recruiter, or Weber, the coach? Weber, the coach, easy. I never said I would take a great recruiter over a great coach.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) Well, I've been enrolled at that very university for seasons under Zook and Turner, seeing nearly every game in person and I guarantee you this team is not significantly better. Of course they aren't significantly better yet, Zook's recruits haven't even seen the field much. We have already established the fact that Zook is a recruiter and not a great coach. So how can you judge what he has done here without any of his recruits even playing?
-
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) it should be awesome coaching of s***ty players versus s***ty coaching of awesome players. But Turner is not an awesome coach, he is a decent at best coach of s***ty players. Which is who after all I am comparing Zook to. Awesome coaches don't grow on trees so I would said Zook was a pretty good choice for a team that couldn't get s*** for talent.

s***ty coaching of awesome players > Decent coaching of s***ty players Fact of the matter this football program is significantly better with Zook over Turner.

1 quarter and maybe 5-7 passes in 3 weeks vs. 0 quarters in 3 weeks really will not make too much of a difference on his rust factor this weekend. Damn this week is going by so slow, it needs to be Sunday. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Yeah, tell me about it. I'm so sick of the "their QB ratings are the same" comments. I mean s*** just watch the Atlanta game 1st half vs. 2nd half. Night and day. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) 2) No paper arguments here. I never miss Bears games, so I don't even have to look at any statsheets. The difference between Orton and Grossman is drastic. You only have to watch a couple of games to find that out. And this is what everyone fails to realize. -

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) Ohio State won that game. FYI FYI he won it all in 01.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) So every coach who's ever coached in a title game should never be fired? Come on now, Coker did that back in '01 and has gotten consistently worse since. I hope they keep him, I hate Miami. I never said he should never be fired but it seems pretty unfair to judge him on being able to coach players when he hasn't exactly been coaching his own players for an extensive period of time. If anything the book is still out until he gets a more extended chance at coaching his own recruits without having his accomplishments dismissed because it's Davis' players. It's stupid to say he should never be fired. But it's hard to say a guy can't coach when he won a National Title, no matter whose players they were.
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) With who's players? Butch Davis'. The luck stops here, the LSU game is a sign of things to come. Coker saved his job by canning half his staff, but next year its him on the chopping block. He's got Kyle Wright (who will always be developing) and Tyrone Moss (I'll give them credit on him, hes a very talented Football player... who has no knee left), but Orien Harris and Devin Hester have all the talent in the world yet look like chickens with thier heads cut off. Why is that? Coker. Yes it is with Davis' players. It's not about whose players they are...that deals with recruiting. He coached them to a National Title which really is what we are talking about, no?
