Hilarious to look back at these quotes now, as if any fans bought into this BS they were selling.

Yep. And I think most of us here saw through their bullshit and were offended that they couldn't just talk straight with us. We know what this is.

They either look incompetent for thinking it WASN'T a rebuild, or liars for trying to convince us.

    it's time to flush Grifol...

Sox should hire Ozzie and treat it like a reality show to see if he can squeeze out 40 more wins from this team. At least it'll be entertaining to watch

Go full Savannah Bananas at this point.

  3. Thank you for some perspective. It's "fun" to watch the new levels of futility we're sinking to every day and setting new records of *bad*, but that only goes so far. We need something to look forward to, even if we have to squint to see the positives coming a in a few years.

Here is a factoid for you:

As of all games completed on 4/7 the WS have scored a league last 16 runs. 29 teams have scored 20 or more. 27 teams have scored 30 or more.

Follow-up factoid related to the White Sox team having scored 16 runs as a team...

Mookie Betts has also scored 16 runs thus far this season.

  5. Personally, I'd rather just call up Brett Phillips. Sure, he swings a wet noodle of a  bat, but so does everyone else on this team. The guy is FUN. He's a fan favorite in every other city, he plays great defense, and seems like a fun teammate for others to be around.

We aren't winning games. We aren't going to score runs. You want veteran leadership to change the culture of this team? Brett Phillips can have a much bigger impact on this team than any other journeyman we think can be a bandaid for this team.

I'm pretty concerned honestly that we are about to head into a 20 year streak of obsolescence like the 90s/2000s. This just seems so far off from building back up, and zero confidence that this group can consistently make the right decision. Mena for Fletcher, the cease trade not inspiring confidence so far.

Before I can say it'll be 20 years, we have to see what happens with the next ownership group. I agree that this is going to be a long seven years or so until the new stadium gets built (assuming that happens!), and then I feel like 2030 will have a wide-open outlook.

Not saying 2030+ will be great, just that we're definitely going to see different people running it, so at least we have that to look forward to.

Sounds like we’ve been “dangling” Kopech per Nightengale’s latest article:

Reminds of that "I've got a dollar!" on a fishing pole insurance commercial from awhile back

  8. I'm of two minds here: 1. I can't wait to be rid of him and 2. He might actually turn into a great reliever.

I look at Liam Hendriks as an example and how god awful he was as a starter between MIN, KC, and TOR with an ERA+ of like 70 and a FIP close to 6 for four years. Toronto decides to bring him back and turn him into a reliever, focus his energy on just max effort for a short run. Like a bulldog with horse blinders on.

Kopech is worth nothing to anyone as a starter anymore - he is what he is at this point.

But I can squint and see the talent, MAYBE we can get that bulldog 9th inning out of him and he can turn his career around.

A multi-BILLION dollar industry and they can’t get a working radar gun for Spring Training?

Hey, they're also unable to stream all of the spring training games online for *reasons*, remember?

I get what you're saying and I too wish every game was televised, but what you're asking for is something no other team does. So this isn't just another "white sox gonna white sox".

That's fair. But if I can watch every single one of my 10 year old nephew's games on a live webcast, you'd think a Major League franchise should do the same.

  11. Minor pet peeve that always gets to me: when someone takes a photo of a two-dimensional subject (usually a TV screen but in this case the lineup card) at an angle instead of head-on.

    Anyway, go Sox I guess.

My dad said that they reminded him of old Comiskey.

I never got to experience it but I assumed that was a reference, yeah.

Also reminds me of Philadelphia. Thought how cool this moment would have been with us and then I made myself feel bad again.
