  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) We have no other pitchers right now. Wes Whisler. Justin Cassell. Kyle McCulloch, any of the young guys that could be added and pitched would be better than burls. He needs to be shut down.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) I'm so sick of Ozzie and Kenny trying to rip on the effort of the players. Maybe it's time for Ozzie to look into the mirror and realize these players have tuned him out. His performance during the 2nd half of the season would have gotten many managers fired. Not much else for him to do. None of his players are producing.
  3. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) His value is lower because of this season. We have him under control for a couple more years and he has proven that he can be a great pitcher. I don't see why we would be trading him this offseason. Danks' value is still ridiculously high. He would bring in a haul. That said, it'd be extremely foolish to trade him.
  4. Through 2011 according to Cowley.
  5. Personally, I don't think any of our lower level guys have a chance of being traded. After 2010, Griffith, Gilmore, Upchurch and Leesman may be prime targets. Some guys that I could see going are: 1) Morel 2) Torres 3) Armstrong 4) Gartrell 5) Link None of those guys are going to be headliners, but a "pick three" could land us a bullpen arm out of them.
  6. Nice play by Jermaine, love to have his range out there.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 07:19 PM) You are basing your comments about Nix being a better 2Bman then Getz on what? Homers? Homeruns isn't bat control. Getz is a better defender and that's what we need is defense. Nix is doing just fine as a sub at all 3 infield positions. He makes contact when at the plate and has speed., but he is not especially a great defense man. Nix is far and away the better defender - Getz: -4.6 UZR, -4.0 RngR, -4.8 UZR/150 @ second. Nix: 3.6 UZR, 3.7 RngR, 10.2 UZR/150 @ second.
  8. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) Maybe we should have Kotsay PH for Dye with bases loaded. Or maybe Kotsay could've started or something.
  9. I really wish Kotsay was hitting there.
  10. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) why? Meant to write popup.
  11. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) So how did Peavy look last night? A ton of movement on the fastball, nasty slider and a good looking curve. He just had some control issues, which is what everyone expected.
  12. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) If nobody steps up too early tomorrow, I am going to make the IGT. It will be the most glorious IGT ever created. I totally forgot about it until I realized that there wasn't one made.
  13. Bloomquist -rf Maier - lf Butler - 1b Jacobs - dh Callaspo - 3b Buck - C Hernandez - 2b Betancourt - ss Anderson - cf- Robinson Tejada pitching V Pods- dh Becks - 3b AJ - c Konerko -1b Ramirez - ss Dye - rf Quentin - lf Getz - 2b Rios - CF Sweaty Freddy on the bump
  14. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) and..........the Sox don't need pitching? Let's see this thread started with Jenks for "prospects" to Alexi for a "quality reliever". It amazes me how fans value players. Or you could post the actual quote and get a high quality, major league reliever and a nearly ML ready outfielder. You'd turn down Manny Delcarmen and Josh Reddick for Alexei?
  15. QUOTE (League @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 06:17 PM) Peavy has healed all wounds. Our leadoff hitter gets on after an error. We get him to third. We just replaced 1st and 3rd with a run and 1st and 3rd again. (On a day that Detroit lost). Edit: Against a young left handed pitcher making his first major league start no less. And this is replied to with a short popup and a double play.

  17. Poor kid, making your debut against Peavy in a game like this must be a drag.
  18. Nice first batter for Peavy, great way to start out.
  19. I love the idea of trading Jenks for Hardy, he and Beckham would make one of the most rangy left sides in baseball. I would look for at least two things in an Alexei trade: A high quality, major league reliever and a nearly ML ready outfielder.
  20. I felt the need to be the one who announced the Peavy game. Here's hoping for a good, healthy outing from him.
  21. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) OMG, he has been beyond brutal. Swisher was benched last year for numbers a lot better than Rios'. Hell Anderson and Wise put up better numbers than Rios. And we don't have any better options, all we can do is hope that Rios gets out of it.
