  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) I don't know why you would bunt off a guy throwing 100. Especially when the guy isn't showing great control.
  2. It's your typical patented White Sox mental midget performance against the Royals.
  3. I get so tired of the Royals Pitching Clinic every time they face the Sox.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) After seeing that Soriano said he had no interest in going to the Giants, and know that he turned down other trade opportunities, it makes me wonder... Is there something in the Old Style there? The fans don't care about winning, the players don't care about winning... It just amazes me that an awful baseball team, in an antique ballpark, has all of these players (such as Sori, Dempster, Wood, etc) who never want to leave. Phil Rodgers, "No team could use Soriano more than the Rays". Rumor has it Detroit was interested at one time.
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) Season high 13 games above. Anyone know when the last time this happened?
  6. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) If you have 5 senses, you are obviously not a Cub fan. Post of the week.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:55 AM) With regard to those ups and downs, I genuinely feel that's been the biggest difference in the regimes. They are obviously better prepared and sharper fundamentally, but the Sox have never had a really long bad stretch throughout the season, and they've only really had one semi-extended stretch where they were really good, those being two 3-10's and one 1 13-1 stretch. Otherwise, they have legitimately played about .550 ball all year long. I haven't had this much fun following a team since 2008, and even then they were on dire straits by the end of the year and really lucked into a playoff appearance. That's something I can't recall seeing in any Sox team this century. AJ is throwing guys out, Rios is awesome in RF. People are put in better situations to succeed which may not have always been possible in previous seasons. The only thing that still worries me is lack of ML experience in some players and manager.
  8. He’d be available for a theoretical NLCS. So Bud Selig. If it were Bettman the suspension would allow him for the post season.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) That's fine. And that's my point. What percentage of those have come in the last 4 years? It's just not as big as it once was. The pitching today is the best it's ever been. These arms being produced every year just baffles me. Velocity is way up. Seems like everybody has a + breaking ball to go with that velocity. Babe Ruth would be John Kruk in today's game. I don't know if that's true. I do think there is a great divide between the aces and the very good and there is an even bigger drop off after that. I look at some older players who are suppose to be on the downside like AJ and Jeter and they are having abnormal seasons.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Liked the Ventura hire from the beginning, but I refuse to pile on Guillen. His time was clearly up, but he was the right hire at the right time. He won a World Series. Glad to see someone gets it. Ozzie-He gone. No need to bring him up constantly.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) Supposedly, Cooper really loves Septimo, Veal was pretty impressive his first stint and looks good again tonight. I hope it's not another Pena scenario.
  12. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 08:01 PM) I love cruising Tigers forums after a White Sox win. Is is doom and gloom or confident the Tigers will take the division?
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN #WhiteSox 6th in #MLB in '12 w/ 43.4% of runs scoring on HRs. Of late, figure has soared to 61%. Hence lineup change. Kinda like 2005-2006. I did not know this but found out listening to the Toronto broadcast that the Sox have 5 guys hitting over .300 with RISP.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) GAME! Great job by Reed, and we got a lot of hard hit outs right at our defender. Just how awesome is Rios now he's playing RF?
  15. I didn't want to read thru 8 pages, but isn't this decision based on options? Wise can't be sent down.
  16. To bad the Sox aren't facing NL teams. Problem solved.
  17. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) The ball was on a tee the last two nights and he did nothing with it. He wasn't the only one.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) They honestly don't bother me as much anymore. I think all my hatred has been bestowed upon the Red Sox, that I kinda let the Yankees slide. My hatred is towards the Sox losing the series to KC. There was opportunity to gain some ground here.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 07:39 PM) 8-7 Yankees now. We really need to start hitting against Guthrie. I'm gonna watch that game instead if this snooze fest.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 05:19 PM) Yankees @ Detroit.. should be a great series. Hopefully NY takes 3 of 4, we take 2 of 3 against KC, and we'll be up 3 games going into the weekend series vs Oakland. Looks like Detroit is handling the Yankees while the Sox struggle with the 4th place team in their division. That's the Sox 2nd half MO.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 11:39 AM) If the Sox come up 1 or 2 games short of the postseason, is it fair to criticize Robin for not adjusting when things need a change? Such as sticking with Morel in the 2-hole way too long, having Santiago close out of spring training, not batting Rios-Dunn-Konerko 3-4-5, taking Sale out of the rotation abruptly in May, and pulling Quintana from a 1-0 game in LA with only 77 pitches? I may forgive him for the last one, but there have been some management mistakes this year that may cause Kenny to come up short making the playoffs again. Leading the league in blown saves doesn't help either.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) That game really stunk tonight, at least the seventh inning on. I love Jake Peavy don't get me wrong. But it's difficult for that guy to every be bailed out of games by his bullpen because of his refusal to come out of games. He doesn't give Coop or Robin a chance to rescue him in an inning because he won't come out. I know a lot of times he pitches out of late jams, but let's just say tonight Coop had a feeling it was time to get jake out of there after one hit in the seventh inning instead of the fourth or fifth hit?? It was too late to save Jake. Am I right or wrong on this one? He's no Verlander.
  23. Detroit's taken two from the Yankees and the Sox can't get past the Royals. Makes you panic a bit.
  24. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) I'm taking any comments from the Boston Globe in regards to Youk with a huge grain of salt... I'll believe when I hear Kenny say it.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) I like that he doesn't take your crap. Why should he put up with it? Bravo! It's nice that any athlete would take the time to have a facebook account and respond.
