  1. trying to make the least predictable sport more predictable the bigger issue is the mound
  2. I think it's a smokescreen. If one is not a baseball fan they could care less. I think it is different with the NFL. I think gambling is more popular than the game. Rare to see those gambling commercials that feature baseball.
  3. We like to think we are a fly on the wall with these negotiations. We haven't the slightest clue what went on. We want to believe the myth the farm system is on the level of other organizations. It's a big difference trading for a World Series which maybe having at least 2 Skubals might do it. There's a reality ignored that much of this Sox lineup came from other farm systems. I have to agree with the arrogance part. Unfortunately it's hard for a GM to avoid that midseason trade deadline just to make a trade. We should start a I Take My Apology Back to Getz thread. I still don't understand that trade with the Pirates.
  4. I'd feel better if the Sox can get a field goal. Meanwhile looking at the box score evert TX pitcher gave up at least a run. Hopefully Sox don't try to match that.
  5. It's easier said than done; If it were me I would think going opposite I wish miss more pitches.
  6. I haven't the slightest clue what hitters do when they can't hit a baseball. I say it's easier said that done. I do remember Yaz making changes when he got older but he is a HoF player. I still remember when Chet Lemon had this extremely long slump and Ted Williams was at Comiskey and he sought advice from Ted. Then there was the really long slump of Konerko's. We forget he is a young player. I'd worry about it a lot more if he was batting close to .400 in the minors and this happens. It would be far worse if it trickled down to his fielding.
  7. It is possible that final wildcard spot will be a team under .500. The AL West is worse than the central.
  8. What will your reaction be if they don't? Imagine looking out up all of our post the last offseason and even into April. How many would really care how far they went into the postseason vs. at least they got there. It seems like it is a new experience going from losing 100 games and hoping that would happen again to get rid of Getz to seeing some more Sox baseball in Oct. This wasn't suppose to happen.
  9. Something has to said that winning is also a habit. No metric or stat can prove that on paper. They don't roll over easy. Then there are the Royals - the turd sandwich.
  10. Like who? I think people have overrated the farm system. All of the guys are playing on the big league roster. The revolving door of talent isn't happening here yet. So few teams have that. Then we ignore what a GM may want. We can bring up all sorts of scenarios and then there is reality. I think it would be much different if it were a team with veterans who are locked up for a few years. Odd to think the infielder that has been on this team the longest is Vargas.
  11. Sox in the postseason in the postseason is like the Jamaican Bobsled team winning the bronze. It's nice but they are not ready.
  12. That would make sense but no one ever thought this would be a team in first place for so long.
  13. So often the SCORE seems to wander away from sports talk. They don't do that as much in Phoenix I just listen to podcasts when it's Sox related.
  14. They haven't had a long losing streak either.
  15. stealing Caufields gotta somehow make it political thunder
  16. Most opposing broadcasts do. They would get crucified in this forum, I always watch the other broadcasts. I've learned more about the Sox that way.
  17. So can we move away from the ledge another day? I haven't watched the games but it seems they re still winning and not playing the best baseball.
  18. Would've been better off not making any trade but some GMs have this habit making trade just to make trades. He was right with the Vargas trade but it took awhile.
  19. Some of us were old enough to remember Let's Talk Baseball With Jimmy Piersal.
  20. I think it is financial. It's the younger and cheaper model. Who will be next in the budget cut?
  21. We can remember when there was no internet, meaning no forums, or everyone has to hear our opinion on "social" media or youtube. Then people forget there is such a thing as sarcasm online. One thing that seems to be gone is fans calling in on radio for the postgame.
  22. I guess some can back off the ledge for a day Isn't this twice a .100 hitting catcher becomes a hero?
  23. It seems to be a pattern with new managers........you think they learned nothing from being a bench coach
  24. 2 went down to the wire at Wrigley
