  1. A tip of the cap to Andruw for keeping the inning going with his two strike hit off a right hander. That was huge in the grand scheme of things, too!
  2. That was a stake in the heart of the Detroit Tigers' 2010 season.
  3. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) Here comes the series split Explain.
  4. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 06:57 PM) We deserve to lose this one, it's that simple But we didn't now, did we? Championship teams have a way of winning games that you think they should have lost (in the 3rd inning, no less - shame on you!). GO SOX!!!
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Here we go. Fasten your seat belts... I'm already in sit-back, strap-it-down, cinch-it-up, hunker-down mode!
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) It's just the top of the 8th was so long. Yes, and I will admit I did not factor that as much as I probably should have when I made my proclamation that Edwin should start the 8th. Duly noted!
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Personally, I'm a HUGE believer in letting a reliever start an inning when possible. I'm usually with you on that one, Fathom. It was the pitch count and the score that lead me to think he deserved to at least face the first guy in the 8th.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) Shack is 100% right here. THat was a 35 minute+ half inning after the guy had thrown 90 pitches. I see and appreciate what you guys are saying, but I still think Ozzie played it right. He gave Jackson one at-bat, which he blew with the walk, and then he yanked him. Who's to say anyone from the bullpen would have done any better with just that one batter? We just saw what Putz had on hand tonight.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) What did that prove, Ozzie? With a four-run lead, our bullpen, and EdWIN's pitch count, to my way of thinking, you absolutely give him at least one batter to continue along. He walked Cabrera, and Ozzie came and got him right away. I have no problem with rewarding Jackson with the start of the inning under those circumstances.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) I guess it's one of the perks of being Out-of-Chicago Sox fans. I'm watching ESPN on TV, listening to Hawk & Stone Pony on "Extra Innings" (a half inning of Sutcliffe sent me reeling!). = D
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) I'd love to see him in the 8th, but you're right. Rested bullpen, guy who needs the confidence. With a four-run lead, you can pull him after one guy getting on, if you want. He's thrown far fewer pitches than his opponent who not only has thrown more pitches coming into the inning, but who is trailing by four runs. Let him start the inning!
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) I'd let Putz start 8th I'd say with his low pitch count, you do let him start the 8th, as a further confidence builder.
  13. With Jackson's fastball, and all of the various clubs he's has been with, hasn't the concept of coming up with a change-up come up with him before?
  14. Jackson is at a low enough pitch count to be able to give us another couple of innings, provided of course that he's effective.
  15. What to do...what to do...what to do next season with this man we call *Paulie*!!!
  16. I think I'd rather watch Vizquel at third when he's 50 than Teahen there ever again.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) Very nice AB by Beckham. Come on Ozzie, put a play on. +1
  18. What is considered to be Edwin's best off-speed pitch? He seems to have an effective fastball, but I haven't seen the good off-speed to go with it. It certainly isn't the slider this evening.
  19. With tomorrow marking the two thirds way mark in the season, doesn't it just make sense to get Dayan into the starting line-up every day, whether at 3rd or DH, and maybe just maybe have Kotsay pinch-hit for him sporadically against certain right-handed pitchers? I mean, enough is enough already!
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 07:11 PM) I'd like to note...I think you made Carlos angry. Now THAT is some funny stuff!!
  21. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) One? You arent watching the game apparently You don't deserve to lose a game you are leading 1-0 in the 3rd inning.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) Juan Pierre might be the most ideal candidate for the hit-and-run to play in the majors during the last decade. It's a no-brainer with the way he's able to make contact.
  23. Isn't the 9th spot in the line-up usually where you drop off the worst hitter in your line-up?
