Smith's eFG% on jump shots is 42.8%, and 44.1% for Rose.
I don't think teams will ever need to double team Smoove on the perimeter, while Rose faces constant double teams and traps. Rose also have the immense responsibility of creating shots on the perimeter with shot clock winding down.
And please don't even bring up the 3 point shooting story, Rose has more than twice as many makes from 3 than Smith, and if you want the real story, take off the 30 miss 3 point shots from half court or full court heaves Rose took at the end of quarters. Yes. 30.

Kobe getting all first team honor is ridiculous. Just about every person who watches basketball knows his defense has been really bad this year. It showed throughout much of the playoffs. His defensive plus and minuses is one of the worst in the league IIRC. Tony Allen has a better defender than Kobe hands down. This is almost as bad as Jeter getting Gold Gloves year in and year out.

couple of interesting notes about the second round
The only analyst on ESPN that's picking the Bulls to sweep the Hawks is..... John Hollinger. I am shocked.
The Celtics and the Heat actually gets a 3 day rest between Game 2 and Game 3 (G2 on Tues, G3 on Sat.) while the Bulls and Hawks will play every other day. This will be though if we run into nagging injuries.

There is nothing like a Game 7 overtime of the Stanley Cup playoffs, granted it's only the opening round. This ought to be awesome!

Rose went on a three point rampage a couple weeks ago when both Boozer and Noah were out. I think over a 6 game stretch he was taking 8 3s a game and only making 25% of them. But I also read an article a few weeks back, noting that much of Derrick's underwhelming 3 point% is due to the fact that he have to take so many 3s late in the shot clock, and hoist up long distance 3 pointers at the end of the quarter. 25 of them to be exact. Take those off and his percentage is at a more respectable 35-36%. If you watch games, he actually demands the ball with little time left in the quarter, he doesn't mind sacrificing his stats for the team. You can't say that about every superstar.
Also, I noticed that his three point shot has gotten a little flatter compared to earlier in the season. This could be an effect of tired legs from intense summer practice and the FIBA tournament. If he continues gets a nice rest over the summer, and keep practicing on the shot, I have no problem with him taking 4 3 pointers a game.

the rate that DRose takes and makes FT is quite scary right now. At this rate, he can get to the line 10 times next season and hit 90% of them.
This only thing that worries me now if Noah, he hasn't really mash well with Boozer since his return from the thumb injury. I would like to see him get more playing time in the near future.

His cheating allegations were confirmed when Aljejandra gave birth to a black baby. Now the farther is said to be Jason Richardson, Nash’s former teammate. The Suns abruptly traded Richardson to the Orlando Magic in December. This was around the time that the baby was born.

I think a bulk of your argument is based on physical dominance. Howard, being the man child with freakish athleticism, looks to be the most dominant player on the floor every game out there. With the eye test alone, he definitely has the most impact in the game both ends of the floor because he looks superior to his opposition. But if you take a look at DRose, is there a more dominant 6'3 guard in the league in DRose? I mean it tough to say that a 6'3 point guard is physically dominating, but that is exactly DRose is. Watching Rose on a drive to the hoop is like watching a wild stallion let loose from the barn racing towards the carrots up front while barn keepers are trying to catch him from behind. Many times you would see big men try to grab a piece of Rose while he relentlessly tries to get to the hoop. If you need illustration, just look at the amazing layup against Wade and Lebron in the last Heat game.
The point is that, I think Rose is just as physically dominating as howard on the offensive end, even though he is a 6'3 point guard. Defensively, there is no argument, Howard definitely brings more to the table than Rose. But given Rose's many late game heroics and clutch plays(tonight is a great example), it definitely gives him the edge over Howard. Howard on the other hand, is a liability in late games because his poor FT shooting, and teams don't usually draw up plays for big men late in the game. I think the value both men brings to the table is more similar than a lot would think.
As a vivid Bulls fan, I say the MVP race is a toss up now between Rose and Howard, but I will give Rose the slight advantage given the Bulls are 7 games up on the Magic in the loss column. If both team's record are similar, I would go for Howard in a heart beat.
p.s. if you think Howard has a s***ty supporting cast, get this. Count the number of games the offensively inept Keith Bogans, Taj Gibson, the 55 year old Kurt Thomas, and the injured Noah started for us, you would be amazed that the Bulls are somehow in first place.

I'd gone insane too if I was Blake. Normally if the player posterizes someone like that, they would always call the blocking foul instead of a charge, and this was a really close call. I think the ref was just tired of Blake doing mean things to foreign white centers.

It's hard not to envision Howard in a Laker uniform. In two years, Kobe would be 34, going into his 16th season. With the Kobe on the verge of retirement and the Laker in need of a superstar, I would assume they will go all out of Howard. The Lakers has always had a superstar/hall of famer on their squad, from Elgin Baylor to Jerry West, to Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq, and Kobe. Howard would have the personality, style of play, and impact to be the torch bearer to a Laker great and play in front of the most popular basketball team in the world. He could be the face of the Lakers for the next 7-8 years. For Howard, it would increase his already great popularity, and possibly cement his legacy if he can win with that team.

Only four really tough games: the road games against Atlanta, Orlando, the Knicks and at home against Bosotn.
If they can play at the level they are playing right now, they can easily go 16-1.
Trouble is, the Bulls always play down to their opponent. They may end up beating all of Boston, Orlando and Atlanta at ATL, but they will sure lose a game here and there playing the weaklings.

I couldn't disagree with you more on this one. Kirk is exactly the type of player we need right now. He is not a elite shooter ala Korver or Ray Allen, but he is shooting 45-41-89% this season, pretty good don't u think? A career 38% from 3s is no slouch either. While Bogans is a good defender, Kirk is a great defender (all defensive team recognition), a couple years back I even heard people call him the best defensive guard in the league besides Kobe.
The most important difference between Bogans and Kirk is Kirk can actually handle. We do not have anyone who can handle the ball and create their own shots outside of Rose and Watson, that is why you see constant trapping on Rose. Bogans is one trick pony who can only shoot spot up threes, but you get more dimensions with Kirk. Lastly, Kirk can easily get you 10-12 points a game with limited touches, but Bogans 4 points per game is not going to fly.

jeez, looking at the horror the Bulls have brought this season. First they got Jim O'Brien and Jerry Sloans fired, and now they have the Miami wimps crying like little leaguers, I wonder what's next.

I would assume that that's the case. All the practice and FIBA games over the summer has to have some effects on him. He doesn't look as fast has he was at the beginning of the year. Thibs noticed that as well. Normally he would sub Rose out at the beginning of second and put him back in at the 7 or 6 minute mark. But last night Rose didn't come back until the 3 minute mark. It's been the same pattern for quite a few games now. I just hope Rose doesn't get gas out when the playoff starts.

rose should stop taking so many 3s, he has struggled with his 3 pt shot with the exception of December. He shooting 22% from 3 between february and march, yet he's taking 5-6 threes per game.

I'd say it has been one of the most awful 4 game experience for me as a Bulls fan ever. Miami's achille's heel has been their inability to beat elite teams and their inability (Lebron's) to finish out close games. The Bulls on the other hand, were mediocre at times against weak teams and has been superb against elite competition, they excelled in close games because D-Rose often times single handedly wins the game for the team.
But it seems like the trend has reversed completely this series. Lebron was ultra aggressive and got some big time buckets down the stretch, and Rose has failed time and time over again in end of the game situation. They embarrassed us by beating us at our own game on our home court, twice. That, plus the fact that our offense has been completely been shut down really makes this series one to forget. I really hope this will not be the trend going forward vs the Heat.
The only way for us to even compete with the Heat is to get an all star level SG, namely Ginobili or Eric Gordon. Even that, we aren't guaranteed to beat the Heat in the playoffs. Noah is garbage offensively when it matters, and Boozer is probably the worst big name playoff performer in the league today.
If we have to beat the Heat, we HAVE TO get Dwight Howard. The Bulls know that, D Rose knows that, and I think Howard knows that. He can only beat the Heat if he join the Thunder or the Bulls. With that, here are my fantasy trade proposals that will help push us past the heat
but not a chance it's gonna happen.
Trade Noah, Boozer, Asik, and a future first round pick to the Magic for Howard, Duhon, and Daniel Orton. We have to get Howard, because Heat can stop D Rose, or Howard, but not both at the same time.
Trade Duhon, Orton, and a first round pick this year for Channing Frye. Frye would theoretically fit well with Howard and Rose because he can stretch the defense.
Trade a first round pick this year, and a future first round pick for Aaron Affalo. I really like this guy. He has become a really good shooter, handles and doesn't turn the ball over at all, and best of all, he is one of the few guys that can guard Wade well.
Sign a guy like JJ Barea or Mike Bibby to play the backup point. CJ Watson might be a decent defender, but mainly because he's in Thib's system, he is garbage when it comes to knocking down long shots and playing the point.
Bring back Kurt Thomas to play back up center or draft one in the 2nd round.
The lineup would look something like
Howard / Thomas
Frye / Gibson
Deng / Korver
Affalo / Brewer / Bogans
Rose / Barea or Bibby
We have to studs who demands double team every possession, and guys who can stretch the defense and yet still one of the top defensive units in the league. As bad as it sounds, getting Howard may be our only chance to get past the Heat.
