I don’t think it’s Springer or bust necessarily. You have Jackie Bradley Jr. and Joc Pederson. Both are good options for this team. You also have Ozuna, but the problem with him is he’s not good defensively but he can hit the cover off the ball. There’s Michael Brantley too but I think he’s going to resign with the Astros. If you can’t sign a RF in free agency than I would think about trading for one as a last resort such as a Joey Gallo or even a Cole Calhoun.

I think the Sox are working aggressively to land Springer but if they don’t get him than I think they will pivot towards Jackie Bradley Jr. or Joc Pederson. Either one of those will do just fine. Bradley Jr. is quick so an outfield of him and Robert would be something else.

I think there’s a good chance the Sox will do 2 out of 3 of those things but that leaves RF and possibly another bullpen arm into question. If they don’t sign a RF do you think they go with a platoon of a Leury/Engel? Who do think will fill the void of the closer spot since Colome is most likely gone? Aaron Bummer?

This may be an indication of where the Sox are focusing their attention to if they don’t sign any low tier pitchers. We shall see.

This is strange, Al’s Cheesy Beef tweeted that the Sox are interested in Odorizzi and than deleted the tweet. He’s now tweeting about Quintana and how he would be a perfect fit for the backend of the rotation. What are your thoughts on Quintana?

The goal now is to win championships. You do that by signing a top player or more in free agency but also by mixing in a trade or two to get a top player or someone of value if you can’t find that in free agency. They got some holes to fill this year in RF and SP. The market for top of the rotation SP’s this year is thin outside of a Bauer but realistically do you think they have a chance of signing him so the only other option is to go outside of free agency via trade for a top of the rotation SP. There are quite a bit of options for the back of the rotation on the market this year but not for the top of the rotation so you concentrate on signing a quality or top RF and a back of the rotation SP in free agency this year.

The reason why I’m so confident in the Sox spending this offseason is Merkin thinks they will spend and usually when he says they will, they usually do. He has the inside track to information inside the organization.

Well, we didn’t last year with signing Kuechel. Yes, we lost Wheeler but we didn’t lose out by much. What makes you think this year will be different? The uncertainty of the virus? JR’s history of not willing to open up his wallet?

These guys were quiet all day. They must have been watching the Masters earlier and football. Al’s Cheesy Beef tweeted that Springer is their 1a and Jackie Bradley Jr is their 1b and he is claiming that he is a different person than Not Steve Cishek and PortillosHamburger Lol. ?

Well James, WSD, Merkin and most of the national media guys are saying the Sox will spend this offseason so I wouldn’t worry. It’s early. This is kind of strange though that Not Steve Cishek tweeted this after Portillos tweeted that he’s not the same person as Al’s Cheesy Beef. He made it sound like he created all three accounts under the same umbrella to save face.

I wouldn’t worry about this too much. It sounds like all these guys are at the bottom of their list or a backup in case their plans don’t work out. That’s how I read the tweet.
