  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) You fail to see any sadness in the fact that the US has an agreement with Mexico and the US failed to honor that agreement? At the end of the day, I take my word seriously. If I tell you that we have an agreement, that means something. As an United States citizen I am ashamed that we told 170 countries that we would abide by a treaty and we failed to do it. Not only that, but after we were told we were in the wrong, we didnt even change our actions, we just went on our way acting like it doesnt matter, that somehow vengeance is more important then our word. That makes me sad, it makes me sad because we are supposed to be a country where there is liberty and justice for all. And that means we treat the worst of society with the same respect and decency we treat the best of society. I wonder what the people of the great state of Texas would say if an American civilian was denied rights in Mexico and executed. Would we merely say "Well Mexico has that right" or would we expect more? Would we expect that our citizen be given the rights and treatment that Mexico agreed to give them when they signed the treaty? So today I am sad, not because of the death, but because we were so hellbent on killing this man that we had to break our word to do it. And unlike you, I dont believe Mr. Leal will be going to hell, I dont believe hes going anywhere. Dead is dead. How about the liberty and justice of Ms. Sauceda? Where were her rights? Oh, yeah, she didn't get any. She got raped and murdered. Mr. Leal got all the liberty and justice he was owed when he received a fair trial from the American justice system. That's the only "liberty and justice" a man of his nature deserves. If an American rapist and murderer were arrested for his crimes in Mexico, I'd want him to get a fair trial. Once he got that, I would expect that Mexico carried out his assigned sentence. The only reason I would complain would be if that American was not honestly tried in a court of law. Mr. Leal got that. I don't know why everyone is acting as if he were summarily executed without a trial. Strange tries to mock me with the whole "national sovereignty" thing, but it's true. I don't agree with any treaty that surrenders our national sovereignty to foreign elements. This treaty needs to be revoked immediately. Mexico and the ICJ have no place intervening in our criminal justice system. Get this silly agreement off the books right away. And you're an atheist. That's pleasant. You're free to face God with any reputation you like; it's not my place to change you or convert you or anything like that. So good luck.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 08:13 PM) Sad day for the US. Wish that we could have done better, but hopefully one day we do. Today, Texas executed a fairly convicted rapist and murderer. You can argue all day that he should have been allowed to speak with the consulate, but whatever the results of that debate, I fail to see any sadness in this. Burn in Hell, Mr. Leal.
  3. Joe, you previously mentioned that you are a sucker for damsels in distress, and that you would feel bad for "abandoning" her at a time like this. But don't you realize that she abandons you every single day, or even multiple times a day? She texts you, or grabs your friend's dick, and flirts (and probably not just with you or your friend either), this gives her the attention she wants and desperately needs, and then runs off to her boyfriend for her sexual needs. That's abandonment. She does it constantly to you, so it's silly that you would feel bad for returning the favor. I don't care how many people she's slept with. My girlfriend's slept with less people than her, and certainly that's part of the reason she's not a whore. However, my girlfriend doesn't get drunk with random dudes, show them her tits and grab their cocks. If she did that, the number of people she slept with and the types of clothes she wore would be irrelevant. She'd be a whore. If Ellen Page weren't a whore, she would have spent yesterday with her boyfriend and not in some dude's swimming pool in her panties and drunk off her ass. My girlfriend says you need to end this now (and I concur). If you continue, you will be hurt worse than you are even now. There is no upside to this. It's like Will Ohman coming in to pitch the seventh inning of a game we're losing four to two. Only bad things lie ahead.
  4. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) In fairness he really hadn't had a start like this all year. It was bound to come at some point. I know. It's horribly fitting it would come against this stupid team though.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) It's not Joe's fault she keeps calling him and wants to be with him. I mean the girl is playing with fire. If she wants to sleep around, it might as well be Joe who gets his dream girl or crush girl. My guess is she will reject him, but she's very hot it seems and was half naked in his pool for goshsakes. he's a gentleman, but if she wants to cheat Joe might as well get his dream girl for a night. My guess is he'll be rejected (I didn't see the no dick comment; what did she mean by that and when did she say that?) This girl isn't anybody's dream girl. And Joe thinks she is, he's not thinking straight. This girl is a momentary infatuation for Joe, and she's nothing more than a dimestore hooker. Joe isn't going to find anything good by sleeping with her and then ditching her. Joe will find good things only by sticking to his morals and finding a girl who actually cares about him and wants to be with him. That ain't this girl. And just because she's coming on to him doesn't make it right. Joe needs to leave this alone.
  6. Humber is one of the few players on this team I still like. Seeing him suck like this, it hurts.
  7. That's it. I'm f***ing done with this s***. This is f***ing garbage. Have fun at the AS Game, PaulStar. And for the love of God, can we just put the HOF chat about Paulie to rest now? Do people actually believe that? He doesn't have a chance.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) I dislike Ozzie as much as anyone, but this just isn't the Sox year so far. No manager in baseball could have this group of players playing hard. Something that's interesting to think of is that maybe the Sox need to go away from bringing in guys with a reputation of not being "winning" players. Dunn and Rios definitely had that reputation coming into the year. I agree. But it needs to start with Ozzie. He needs to be held accountable for this team's crap.
  9. I swear, I'm about to start rooting against the Sox just so my sig comes true. Ozzie can take his moronic lineups, poor pen management and stupid quotes somewhere else.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:09 PM) The Sox have 5 of the 70 worst players in baseball in the lineup today: Teahen, Pierre, Rios, Dunn, and Vizquel. Stay hot, KW. Beckham belongs on that list.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) Thing is you seem like a great guy and I wouldn't mind seeing you win here. Why not wait til she gets drunk again, make your move and see if you can get the sex you want with her? If she rejects you like the time I got rejected, fine, you'll know at least. But maybe you can hit it. You've put in a lot of work already with her. If you say the things you are planning on saying, it also will end I feel but maybe you can have sex with her once if she's had a couple drinks and has any feelings for you at all. A "great guy" doesn't get another dude's girlfriend drunk and try to sleep with her. That's a really sleazy suggestion.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:01 PM) Why not just make a Camp Pierre? Vizquel sucks. But, dude, he's first ballot HOFer. Hawk swears by it.
  13. Honestly, if the Sox don't take the AL Central, I hope the Twins do. Just so they can finally take the playoffs consecutive loss record after another Yankee sweep. F*** them and their stupid fans.
  14. I hate the Twins. I also hate Gordon Beckham. Just another version of Joe Borchard, Brian Anderson, Josh Fields, Jerry Lewis etc etc. And then I hate watching a team where it's 3-0 in the second and it feels like it might as well be 10-0 in the eighth. Why can't we take pitches? What was that, a six pitch inning? Thanks, guys.
  15. Joe, you seem like a good guy. That being said, if you keep talking to this girl, you're only going to have yourself to blame when you end up getting hurt. Lay it out for her and tell her how you feel, or don't say anything and just avoid her (I'd suggest the latter). Don't respond to her texts, don't talk to her if she approaches you. Don't have anything to do with her. She is bad news.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 09:02 AM) If you are looking for a relationship (and judging by your posts, you were) than you never want to start you relationship with someone when they are already in a relationship. I have to laugh at people who steal their girlfriends from other dudes and then somehow believe they'll be faithful to them. I've known guys who found their girlfriends this way and I had a guy d it to me. And I'm not jealous of any of them. You really think you stole their heart and made them fall in love with you? You didn't. You found a whore. Somebody else's whore, and now "your" whore. And you're going to be cheated on next. Hell, I know for a fact that my unfaithful ex has already cheated on her new boyfriend. P.S. this rant is directed at anyone on this thread. Just a rant about relationships in general. Now to read JCM's new updates...
  17. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 01:40 AM) Long story short, a lot of crying, rage, and half-naked. Feel free to speculate, lol, but I will explain more tomorrow. Man, I haven't been this excited about a message board post in forever. On another note, I could have called this one. I'm not trying to brag; I'm just saying this was never headed to good places. Don't worry about it, Joe...in the end you'll be better off for it.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 11:51 PM) 100 years ago, sure. In this world where every nation is slowly becoming interconnected, that's impossible. Official agreements are necessary for our trade, which without, we would flounder. Umm, that's what I just said...
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) Yeah, but if we want to be a player on the world stage, which we need to sustain our economy and go about our lives, we have to sign treaties. If Iran can agree to this treaty, then no reason we can't. Unless we want to see American's arrested left and right and not being given the right to the American consulate then being executed, then by all means we should execute the guy. But even if meeting with the Mexican consulate somehow gets him out of the sentence, so be it. His death isn't worth the death of dozens of possible Americans. I'm not against all treaties. Official agreements with other nations are vital to any nation's survival. I'm just against treaties that offer up our national sovereignty. Crime and punishment, to name one area, is something that is an internal affair and should not be subject to the scrutiny of foreign nations. Similarly, another treaty I've ranted against is the UN Small Arms Treaty. Obviously, I love my guns and have no intention of ever giving them over to any authority, but much worse is the idea of submitting our Constitution to the whim of the UN. I honestly don't see where all these Americans are going to be dying abroad. From what I can find, the last American to be executed by a friendly nation (excluding Nazi Germany, the USSR and various rebel groups who wouldn't abide by such "rights" anyhow) was Hawley Crippen for the murder of his wife in London in 1910. So, of the nations that would actually play along with such a treaty, no death sentence has been placed on an American in over 100 years. That's not going to change with the revocation of consulate rights. I believe the US consulates in each country have the duty to ensure that all Americans who have legal troubles in said country receive fair trials to prove guilt surpasses reasonable doubt. Beyond that, my only suggestion is that Americans obey the laws of the countries they venture to. If you don't, you should get a fair trial, and as long as that is met, you're subject to their system. Wanna tape several kilos of heroin to your body and try to board a plane out of Bangkok? You're probably going to be executed. And as long as the trial is fair, I don't think the consulate has any part in that. I certainly don't think it's their part to free Americans from bad judgment they used abroad. They knew the consequences and they shall face them. Same goes for people who come here. Break our laws and be subject to our system. The consulate can observe your legal procedures and even provide you with an attorney, but beyond that, I don't think they have any place interfering in our criminal justice system.
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) Yep. Put yourself in the boyfriend's shoes (minus the "not allowing her to talk to other guys" crazy s***). You wouldn't feel completely betrayed if your girlfriend were talking to some other guy in the same fashion as you two are, and then keeping it from you? This. What you and this girl are doing, JoeCool, is emotional infidelity. You really need to follow the Milkman's advice and put yourself in the boyfriend's shoes so you can realize how hurt you would be if the situation were reversed. You need to get away from this chick quick, both because it's the moral thing to do and because you're going to get hurt. Also, my girlfriend says this girl you know is just fiending for attention. She theorizes that this girl likely believes her boyfriend is a really good guy and doesn't want to hurt him by crossing that physical barrier. However, the fact that she's brought up the sex dream shows that she's contemplated it but she's not brave enough to make the first move (because she's afraid of change). For now though, she's just basking in the fleeting sense of sweetness and caring that you provide her.
  21. Let him meet with his consulate. When they're done, carry out te sentence as planned. I'm not much of a fan of treaties that impede on our national sovereignty and subject our inner workings to foreign scrutiny, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms. What I'm worried about here is that this may turn out to be a backhanded attempt to entirely prevent the otherwise legal execution of a convicted murderer. That mustn't be allowed.
  22. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:29 AM) If you work in the private sector you will realize that people become very good at making a perception that they are important to the company even when they do nothing, and leadership can't always see through it or it isn't a priority for them. Hell, sometimes it's their good friends and they won't listen to it. That sucks. But at least in the private sector, that wastoid is syphoning off private funds (ie the profits of the "good friends" who refuse to pink slip them) and not off of taxpayer dollars. This is whole different can of worms though.
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:12 AM) When I was in the military I found a lot of the civilian employees to be arrogant, not necessarily lazy. I'm not giving up on the laziness part, but I will agree that arrogance is a big part of their collective personna.
