I feel sorry for Ramon Ortiz, considering Fartolo and his 6.84 ERA is still in the rotation. No trade value right now I'd say.

HE came, he ate, and he conquered ... again. Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi, of Japan, has downed a world-record 53-and-a-half hot dogs in 12 minutes at an annual contest in New York. He blew away his rivals for the fourth year in a row. The surprisingly diminutive 26-year-old "gurgitator" successfully retained the Mustard Yellow Belt – the World Cup of competitive eating – at the annual July 4 Nathan's Famous hot dog eating event in Coney Island. Using his trademark "Solomon technique" – breaking the wieners in half before wolfing them down – Mr Kobayashi easily surpassed his own 50-and-a-half-dog record, which he set in 2002. It was a one-two finish for Japan, with Mr Kobayashi's countryman, Noboyuki Shirota, taking the second spot after consuming a comparatively abstemious 38 hot dogs. American Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas, weighing in at a mere 45kgs, placed third with a total of 32 dogs, shattering the women's world record. She also managed to restore some pride to the host nation, which has had to cede its traditional dominance of the event since Mr Kobayashi burst onto the scene. Ms Thomas, 36, only began competitive eating one year ago, but regularly out-devours men four times her size. Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Competition has been held every year at Coney island since 1916.

Mark Cuban rips Sam Smith and the Tribune Company
DBAHO replied to Spiff's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
He's got Smith there on the Pavel front. -
I think Spiff's got about 20 mods to back him up.
-
I seriously hope it comes out on PS2 down here, but I'm not gettin my hopes up.
-
2-0, good pitch on the upper half of the K zone to hit a fly ball, and he pops out. :headshake
-
Shows you how important it is for Willie and Uribe to get on base. When they struggle, we struggle to score runs, simple as that.
-
We made Glendon Rusch look like Cy Young out there. Joe Crede blew a huge oppurtunity popping up, with Lee on 3rd with 1 out. That killed us. Shingo was throwing a lot of fastballs, and the Cubs weren't chasing them.
-
And this shows his hatred of Hawk and JR perfectly, :headshake knowing owner Jerry Reinsdorf more likely would have dinner with first-base-coach-tackler William Ligue than produce big-bucks contracts for Garcia AND Ordonez.

From the Newark Stark Ledger,
-
Found this on Reed and Morse from the Sun - Sentinel, Outfielder Jeremy Reed won't take long to reach Seattle and could make center fielder Randy Winn expendable by the trade deadline. Keep an eye, as well, on the throw-in in the deal, Michael Morse. The Nova High product is a 6-foot-5, 230-pound specimen still playing shortstop. The former third-round pick already had a career-high 11 homers at Double-A, but Morse, 22, projects as a third baseman down the road. ...

Thump him once for me Hawk,

LOL, sorry Beastly I thought that was really funny. How's that teenager life workin out for ya?
-
Playing in front of a national audience has never been a strength of the White Sox, hopefully they can turn it around, cos I'll be watching. Feel confident with Buerhle on the hill though.

I disagree with u there Danman. Back in the 90's, women's tennis had no depth, only Graf and Seles were any good. Now you hav the 2 Williams sisters, the 2 Belgians Henin - Hardenne and Clijsters, Capriati, Davenport, and Sharapova. There are a lot of good young players as well.

Good Thrice Songs: Stare at the Sun All That's Left All Eyes Phoenix Ignition In Your Hands A Turbo Torch Personally I prefer All That's Left the best. It was on the Madden 2004 soundtrack, and I've been hooked on Thrice ever since.
-
That's what happens when you aren't around to keep the youngins in line.

Right click on it, and click on Set As My Background.

What about the Jeremy Reed and Miggy Olivo club?
-
Don't worry, they still need about 17 members to challenge all the admin and mods round here.
-
And who would be the Kobe Bryant of Baseball?
-
That's a great Steff impression if ever I saw one. What's next, the fearsome foursome?
