One of the best defensive plays of Burgers career right there

Ugh, why is Romy still on this team. He is AAAA at best
Those off-season hype pieces were fun, though

That's my catcher 🙂

Speaking of championship windows, how about Hahn and company deciding not to get another starter for 2020 when Ricky was begging for one?
I've always wondered why the Lynn traded didn't happen in season during 2020. Would have made sense for everyone involved.

If the next ten days go as expected, changes need to happen with the front office
If this team lost 100 games in a row I'm skeptical Jerry would change anything. Especially during the season

Passan, Rosenthal, etc will report the Dodgers have serious interest in TA. Whether a trade happens or not, I don't know.
But I'm expecting we'll see some smoke around him being dealt and to the Dodgers specifically.

Gonna be fun when Gallo hits more homers than all Sox outfielders combined.
He strikes out a lot though so it doesn't count

The Sox made the playoffs because they played in the weakest division in the sport. They weren't anything special because of weak pitching. Even with a Harper or Machado on offense.
The Phillies weren't anything special last year either but still made the World Series in large part because Harper went nuclear in October. That definitely could have happened here.

We'd be the Angels in that case.
No thanks.
The Sox made the playoffs in 2020 and 2021. The Angels did neither.

Sure has been a disappointment considering the pieces he had to trade. It’s biggest reason why this rebuild failed.
The complete inability to scout and develop talent once they flipped to contending has been crippling. Every meaningful trade has come at the expense of also making the big league roster worse. No top prospect has been added to the mix sense and the system has been so dry adding impact players in trades is impossible.

The pitching staff is horrendous. How long before these guys get Katz fired?
They can and would do a lot worse.

in hindsight, not signing $300 million free agents will be a blessing when this tear down happens. Thanks to the epic failure by this "core".
It still would have been pretty damn cool to see Machado or Harper in a Sox jersey. Especially when that potentially could have put them over the top in 2020 or 2021. Look at how Harper carried the Phillies last October.

Players catching strays for something that isn't their fault is always amusing
(sosa obviously is at 3b now)

5 HR/13 on the year isn't bad... but it's Mike Cameron 4.5ish fWAR and not star numbers by any stretch.
Or a half season of Buxton.
A 125 wRC+ with the caliber of defense he plays when healthy is going to be much better than a 4.5 WAR player.

Every mistake Lopez has made this year gets punished

Clearly the scouting report for Elvus is throw everything inside because he's either getting hit or nearly hit every game it seems

That pitch is why it’s so hard to give up on Bummer ever
Also he's very good (unless you only look at 6 innings this year) at now allowing runs

I think we're going to get a scoreless inning for Bummer here.

The Sox had too much bullpen depth to acquire this guy for just cash? His minor league numbers are excellent and the stuff is moving like crazy.

Nice to see him be efficient through that part of the lineup. Wonder if he comes back out?
I would think the plan is/was Lambert-Graveman-Bummer-Lopez?
-
It's not easy getting through that part of the Rays lineup. Great job Graveman

Lambert isn't going to be able to hold up all season long with this much usage...
Jimmy Cordero vibes in 2020 except he's actually good. Hopefully his UCL is strong.

There might be something here with Lambert.

Did Brian Anderson also have a 121 career wRC+ after his first 240 games? I'll go out on a limb and say no.
