  1. Get a good return and I'm fine with it. I don't think having him DH and mixing in as a backup catcher is the best use of resources in the short or long-term.
  2. I don't understand why there'd even be interest on a minor league deal. Any MLB organization seriously considering Patrick Wisdom at this point in his career should be embarrassed.
  3. There's a lot of money in baseball and it has to go somewhere. Props to Blue Jays ownership for being willing to spend and actually trying to win.
  4. Crochet could have had the best 2 months for any pitcher in baseball history and it wouldn't have been able to fetch Roman Anthony. Fair or not, most GMs won't trade prospects of that caliber for anyone with less than 2 years of team control remaining.
  5. I don't think it's normal for a typical pitching coach/organization to have similar before & after results Katz had with guys like Giolito, Crochet, Cease and Rodon. Every time he had success with a legitimately talented pitcher they were traded away. Fedde's career basically fell apart (again) after the Sox traded him away, FWIW. Whether you want to credit Bannister or Katz for his success is a fair question.
  6. Katz is one of the best organizational hires they've made in a very long time. I'd imagine he'll land on his feet quickly. Hopefully the Sox can upgrade but I am very skeptical.
  7. I'm shocked running player development for years in an org right before they were the worst team of all-time wasn't enough to get a vote or 2.
  8. Gotta be AV. All of his expected stats have been good... which no one cares about and rightfully so.
  9. People forget Dombrowski was running Tigers player development for years before their organization imploded and then he received a promotion to GM that no other team would have ever considered giving him. Oh no... that was Getz? Never mind.
  10. Can't get fleeced in trades if you don't have anyone worth trading for
  11. Nothing will change until there's new ownership. There is no light at the end of the tunnel.
  12. The Clevinger experience is so insulating and such a waste of everyone's time
  13. Doesn't appear to me any organization has solved that.
  14. At least we get to watch Mike Clevinger as the top high leverage reliever on the worst team of all-time
  15. Robert, Meidroth, and Tauchman are the only 3 hitters in the org I'd feel confident to be above replacement level players right now.
  16. Might as well go up there without a bat AV
  17. Player development is a huge part of it too
  18. I think leaning into their org strengths developing pitching to flip it for hitting would be reasonable. But would you expect them to hit on the right trades? Of course not.
  19. Brian Bannister and Ethan Katz are good at their jobs and most people in the organization aren't.
  20. Shane Smith has produced more fWAR today than Andrew Vaughn has in his entire career.
  21. It'll never get old watching Luis Robert glide around CF.
