Betts will likely finish top 3 in MVP voting. He is younger, cheaper, and has more team control left than Sale. What is the argument for Sale actually having more trade value than Betts?
-
Definitely seems like Rodon's velocity fluctuates more than any Sox pitcher I can remember. If he's tired they should just shut him down.
-
One more disaster start and he should be shutdown for the season.
-
Still 4 GB of the Phillies for the #10 spot. The 23-10 start to the season will really end up hurting the Sox draft position.
-
I'd rather see Fulmer get shut down when the AAA season ends, then start back in Charlotte next year. I don't think he's ready for the majors, yet. But it's nice to see him pitching well.

Would be very strange if no one before Boston put a claim in.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 09:43 PM)This is complete nonsense. He owned the team, he gets the credit.
7 championships. 7. How many championships does Chicago even have as a city? Reinsdorf has 7 of them.
He bought the team when they already had the greatest player of all-time on the roster. I can't imagine how incompetent an organization would had to have been not to win multiple championships with Michael Jordan.
-
QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 08:54 PM)As bad as Reinsdorf's teams have been in the last decade or so, you really can't deny what he has brought to the city of Chicago. 7 World Championships. His legacy is with the Bulls, and he was the first owner to bring a ws trophy to Chicago in 88 years. Unfortunately, he will probably be remembered by most Sox fans as an owner that fielded mediocre teams because of the last decade or so.
He had nothing to do with those Bulls championships. He didn't hire the front office that drafted Michael Jordan. It would have been nearly impossible to screw that up.

Calling up Hansen seems completely absurd. Even if the team was in contention I'd be against it. He was *broken* in college less than 4 months ago. The Chris Sale schedule doesn't work for everyone.
-
Probably could have gotten something for him before the deadline, too. Oh well.
-
Too early to say Hansen is the Sox top pitching prospect?
-
Props to the White Sox development staff for getting Hansen turned around. That is a very pleasant surprise.

Robertson and Duke would be my guess.

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 02:58 PM)You MAY be in the minority? I think that's a safe assumption.
I guess it's too be expected. Of course people on a team specific message board are going to overrate the value of their owns teams players. I'm sure there are threads on a Red Sox message board where people are trying to come up with trades for Sale that don't involve Betts, Xander, Moncada, Benintendi, etc. Dave Cameron (only one persons opinion, but still) recently had Mookie Betts 7th on his trade value column and Sale in 16th. If you are going by fWAR, Betts has *slightly* under performed Sale the past 2 years but he is also younger, cheaper, and has more team control. I also think the fact Sale's stuff and peripherals have declined this year aren't being considered enough when we're talking about potentially trading him.
-
I may be in the minority here, but I would strongly consider Betts straight up for Sale. If Boston added in another decent prospect it's a no brainer. But I don't think it's realistic to expect Boston to be trading one of the best players in their ML roster, even for Sale.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 01:28 PM)Q+Robertson to Red Sox
Sale to Dodgers
Sell off Melky, Frazier, Jones, Jennings, Duke, Shields and Gonzalez for best you can get.
Listen on Abreu and Eaton, but need fair value.
Then pray.
I wish the Sox had an owner who would actually sign off on something like this.
-
I am surprised there is still (supposedly) so much trade interest in Robertson. His results have been bad, peripherals meh, and he's expensive for the next 2 years. Getting a decent prospect for him would be pretty shrewd business, if the Sox pull that off.
-
I would happily let him leave if another team was taking on his contract, so getting any prospects back for him would be a bonus.
-
Back to cheering for losses again. This gets really old. Going from the best record & playoff odds in the American League to this in ~2 months is peak White Sox.
-
Tim Anderson is so fun to watch.
-
I wonder how the conversation went when Sale told Coop he was going back to his old style of pitching.
-
I would like to be wrong, but I don't think is anything that could happen this season that would lead to KW or Hahn being fired. I think they'll be the top 2 decision makers in the organization until someone other than JR owns the team.
-
Incredible how we went from best playoff odds in the American League to this in about a month.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 07:38 PM)I actually feel bad for Robin tonight, nothing he can do about this nonsense.
I could nitpick Frazier batting 5th against a lefty, but that's pretty low on the Sox list of problems right now.
Price rising for Sale and Q

Jones is an elite reliever with a very team friendly contract. The price tag on him should be very, very high.
