  1. QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 10:09 PM) This show is moving at a snails pace AND SUCKS! Why couldn't Steve Martin host again? Oscars are notorious for running over schedule. According to Comcast it should go until 10:30, but considering 5-6 nominations remain, it shouldn't be finished later than 11:30. Although I do agree it sucks.
  2. I'm surprised Eddie Murphy didn't win Best Supporting Actor for Dreamgirls. Must publications I came across predicted he'd win.
  3. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 03:12 AM) Somehow, I never saw Goonies either. I don't even think I've ever stumbled across it accidently on tv. My wife loves it, though, so I'll rent it for my kids in a few years. I can't wait to watch Stand By Me with my son. He's 7 now, so I think I'll wait a little while on that, too. PS I'm not ashamed to watch Back to the Future every time it's on. My son alerts me every time the commercial with Christopher Lloyd comes on tv, "Dad, it's the guy from your favorite movie." Speaking of old movies, I watched an 80's cult classic "The Gate" on Comcast OnDemand earlier this afternoon. Not exactly on the level of The Goonies in terms of popularity, but I had never seen it before. I was actually quite shocked at how realistic special effects within the movie appeared. Overall it was a solid, albeit cheesy, film.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) I think at some point this season we'll see a lot of John Danks. I hope not. If Guillen thinks Sweeney playing full-time suggests something went wrong, for Danks to pitch ahead of Haegar and Floyd (this season) would mean both have absolutely tanked. ....or we're out of contention early.
  5. Doesn't sound very contradictory to me. Guillen has probably already made his decision of Floyd as the 5th starter, and now needs the result to match.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) Oh, I'm also on the 300 bandwagon. That looks like a great film. Imdb.com users (which are likely studio executives and people associated with the film) have already voted the film into the Top 250 movies of all time. #250 actually. We'll seen how that rating pans out once the film is released nationwide.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) I saw them with his johnson blurred. If they are indeed her, Idol will have something to think about. If they are indeed wanting to keep a family image, they may have to get rid of her. If her singing doesn't get her kicked off (which it should have already) this will. Hell, even if the pictures are not of Antonella, other pictures provided on the site I viewed showed her desecrating a World War II memorial with a near-nude photoshot. If this incident proves anything to future Idol contestants, it's to make sure you don't have anything in your past you'd rather forget. She'll have a tough time returning home after this crap.
  8. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 08:41 AM) As for Antonella, I think she got votes for another reason: http://www.derekhail.com/2007/02/21/antone...a-nude-pictures These are nothing. There are pictures floating around, supposedly of her, giving an ex boyfriend oral pleasure. It's linked through Dlisted.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 11:41 AM) So lets just say for a second that Erstad does make the team as the everyday starter in CF and Brian Anderson is sent to AAA to start the season. Who the hell plays CF when an injury plagued Erstad needs a day off or tweaks something requiring a week of rest? Anderson surely can't be recalled every time Erstad needs to sit so what's the plan out there? Ozzie can say Mack will not be seeing any time in CF this year all he wants but if he's going to be demoting the only other passable CF on this team for an injury plagued 33 year old, I don't see what other options he's leaving himself here. Well, as long as Terrero grinds it out on the field, and plays spicey Latin music in the clubhouse, everything should be fine.
  10. QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) I wonder how Brian would take a demotion??? I don't know him personally, but I have a feeling he wouldn't take it too well. Would anyone? Next thing you know he'll be out of town, like McCarthy.
  11. If I ever caught the HR ball which eclipses Aaron, I'd do something outrageous like write "Roids" in permanent market then throw it back on the field. What's awesome is no one would know what to do with it. Can't just throw that baseball away, but neither could you send it to Cooperstown.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) Actually, by the way his body is contorted, it looks more to me like Anderson hit the ball to right field on a pitch low and away. He's hunched over, his front foot seems to be pointing in the vicinity of 1st base, his eyes seem to have a horizontal view rather than him looking up at a pop up, and he only has 1 hand on the bat. But then again, with his hips that open, it could very well be a pop up. OR, the BP pitcher threw him a slider and Anderson completely whiffed. He had to look away in shame.
  13. This definitely sounds like the work of our old pal, alcohol. To your answer you question, it's Mackowiak. Whether it's the Hall of Fame or this poll, I'll never vote for Santo.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) If he's popping his fastball consistently at 91-93 and still has that nasty hook that I saw in his scouting video, I don't care if he's 5'1. Neither do I. This is merely my way of having something to complain about prior to the season.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 11:45 PM) A few minutes worth of work and I get a real height for Gio. Somewhere between 5'8" and 5'9" but closer to 5'9". I'd believe 5'9-5'10, but not because of the picture. -Aardsma is striding off the ground -Gonzalez is bent slightly -Gonzalez is probably a foot, foot and a half behind Aarsdma. They can't be judged on an equal plane. Even with this, you're fairly close to the true height.
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) Yeah, 5'11 my ass.
  17. Some time, I want to guess around 1990-1992, there was a boardgame which centered around the idea of a plastic, cone shaped object (representing a Tornado) following a path once you spun it. I may be missing up certain elements of the game, but I recall the board was created to resemble mountains. Anyone know the title?
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 08:49 AM) Oh yeah, Ozzie calls out Mariotti at least once this year. Did you post this exact prediction sometime last year as well ? I'm having deja-vu, here.
  19. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 03:45 AM) It's possible none of them called 911 because they all believed he was dead and they were possibly trying to figure out a way to make this look like an accident to the police, which is just unbelievable. This story gets worse every day. It has been strange how few people within the media have raised this possibility. Which I believe is entirely possible. If a concerned resident of the apartment complex didn't call 911, what would have happened? They may, as you have suggested, been in the intial stages of planning a coverup. Next question someone should ask -- did any of the coaching staff know about the accident prior to a resident calling 911?
  20. Thankfully Whitlock is black or else his story would have been dismissed as blatant racism. And yes, it wouldn't have made his account any less truthful if he were white; but you know how society judges people who speak outside their own race, religion, ethnicity, etc.
  21. Nothing really elaborate about the bombing. All McVeigh needed to successfully destroy the Oklahoma City Federal building was several thousand pounds of fertilizer and a rental vehicle. Concerning Nichols' allegations, I'm more willing to believe accounts of Indonesian terrorists advising those two than our own government participating.
  22. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) They threw some serious info at us tonight. I liked how they went back to before the bombs went off. They still left enough mystery to make you want more, but tonight they gave me exactly what I wanted... more background on Jake and Hawkins. What I love about this show thus far is the sheer number of subplots and characters. You figure they can realistically put out 6-7 good seasons before the material runs dry. Far as the episode, I agree, they answered some pressing questions. Considering how much energy Jake spent into ignoring his past, and Hawkins creating his own for himself and his family, background information was necessary. Definitely looking forward to next Wednesday. It became more and more obvious through the laptop messages Hawkins was involved. We just never knew the extent, until tonight. I also love how all the terrorists were of a different nationality. CBS made sure not to discriminate. What I'd like to see addressed, only because I'm impatient, is: why Hawkins was involved with the plot, if any foreign countries were behind it, how does China figure into the equation, which country were the nuclear missles directed towards, and whether there will be additional terrorist attacks.
  23. Boers and Berstein were absolutely hysterical this afternoon. Illinois apologists just need to quit calling in and embarrassing themselves. It's funny listening to people voice concern for Carlwell, while simultaneously attempting to divert attention off the incident and its implication towards future recruiting classes.
  24. I meant to ask yesterday, but forgot -- was the male contestants vote off that went on a minute long speech complimenting the looks of fellow male competitors? I heard this in another room, and may have misinterpreted several words. I did hear Seacrests' statement of "Glad I'm on the other coach," though. All I could think to myself is, this guy is gone. Don't even need to hear his voice. I'm a tolerant person, but from my position it just sounded incredibly....gay. And I wouldn't put it past voters to completely sour on whoever said those comments.
  25. That's strange. Usually Comcast service within our area only malfunctions during storms. Have you actually exchanged your cable box for another?
