And whether that's a sign that Katz might likely to be on the way back to the West Coast and/or wherever Flaherty or Giolito end up.
They worked together in San Fran, I’d be shocked if Katz is gone

The move seems to be a good one and people are commending it online. By all accounts, this is someone who the Sox probably should’ve hired to be GM. A quick glance at his resume tells me that he is more accomplished than Getz is right now.

Your next White Sox GM

This made me look up Enrique Bradfield's numbers and god damnit.
That being said, still pulling for Gonzalez. But I have 0 faith in a Getz-led organization to develop him.
The models loved Bradfield.

And where is the scout who signed the anomalous Montgomery??
No longer with the White Sox, of course…
Good for him, college assistants are getting paid crazy money. He made the smart move and took the better job

CJ Abrams looks like a budding superstar, at worst a very valuable player as a 20/20 SS. He was picked two picks after Andrew Vaughn

Say no to college 2B at the top of the draft.
Why?

Sounds like most of the 2000's and early 2010s when we kept drafting football players such as Courtney Hawkins and Keenyn Walker and trying to refine them into baseball players.
I think if Courtney Hawkins was drafted by another team, he would’ve been a MLB player. They ruined his development by rushing him and they couldn’t develop an approach at the plate
-
Then he should shut the f*** up.

This team doesn’t hit the ball hard, they don’t hit the ball in the air enough, they don’t see enough pitches, and they don’t take enough walks.

Are you trying to tell me they are getting better at it or just drafted some talented high schoolers? Believe me I'm happy they are trying but nothing about the talent development in this organization screams to me that they will be anything more than a detractor to these talented youngsters.
Luis Robert wasn’t developed by the Sox system?

Normally I'd be pretty happy to add an elite prospect but our farm sucks so much and the future seems so hopeless that not even this matters. They'll just go with a "safe" college bat like Vaughn because they know they can't develop high schoolers for s%*#.
The best players in this draft (as of now) are all college hitters. Kurtz (1B/OF), Bazzana (2B/SS), Honeycutt (CF) and Wetherholt (2B/3B). The Sox should be pleased with any one of those guys falling to them at 4

Pedro's 3-year contract begs the question: Why 3 years? Was he gonna turn down the deal if only offered 2 years? This is Leury Garcia, part II.
I think that’s standard

Getz and Grifol just go to show you that no matter how bad you are at your job if you publicly fellate your boss enough that you rise to the top.

What’s their for pitchers to learn at Charlotte?
The team has to think about leaving that affiliate, surely?

“We’re still addressing it”

Salvy's going to look awesome in a sox uni next year. Hope we can sign Hosmer too.
Need Moustakas too.

Moncada has to be on a short Leah next year. I’d give him till June 1st before I’d eat the money and release him if he’s underperforming
-
Getz made a major blunder during the intro press conference where he tied himself to Grifol. He could’ve and should’ve said that Grifol was under review and that a decision would be made after the season, regardless if he planned on keeping him or not but he went out of his way to tie himself to Grifol.
So these losses are tied to Getz. Grifol after all is his handpicked manager because Getz said what he said, these loses are a reflection of him and not Grifol because he endorsed this.
If Getz is smart, he has to see what’s transpiring on the field and fire Grifol as soon as the season is over. The team is horrendous baseball. They have no effort. And Grifol is doing nothing to optimize the talent on roster in the interim or long term. One of the worst managerial jobs I’ve seen in sometime.

Need the team to get embarrassed like that the rest of the way, that might be our only hope of Grifol not coming back.

Why? He's the second guy Getz should fire (after Haber). Even JR mentioned in his press conference (the one he answered questions) that the removed the guy because they wanted more out of draft. I thought he was still around just to be a Hahn fan-boy
I was shocked that JR was so candid about that. And in typically Sox fashion, they removed him as Scouting Director but put him in charge of pro scouting.

Speaking of environments, Charlotte seems like a real wasteland.
Does anyone learn anything there? Can anyone tell whether or not they do?
It’s such a bad environment for pitchers.

Of course I hate that they didn’t go outside the org or conduct a real search but I hate that Getz and Grifol get to keep their jobs or be promoted.
They’re survivalist and ass kissers. I know AJ said on his show that whenever he was doing a Sox game he would see Getz sitting with Jerry, talking into his ear. And whenever Grifol is asked a question, he speaks directly to Jerry with his answers, saying things that would appeal to him.
They’re scum.
Josh Barfield expected to be asst. GM; Brian Bannister and Gene Watson coming as well
